Our small string of purebred Simmental cows has continued to grow with some new genetics added these past few years. Sara has also added several new young cows and heifers to her own herd. Sara has been very active within the Young Canadian Simmental Association of Alberta as well as the National association. After showing animals in the provincial and national shows, Sara was awarded a trip to the leadership summit in Montana this coming summer. All of our cows are selected for longevity, good feet and udders, quiet disposition and performance. We are pleased to once again provide a variety of genetics in the bulls on offer here, both polled and horned. Our bulls are fed to grow on silage, chopped hay and grain ration. Welcome everyone to the 5th Annual Highway 16 West Multi Breed Bull Sale. Our family farm operates a 250 cow/calf operation southwest of Mayerthorpe. We like the traditional style Angus. Our cattle lines are mostly Straight Canadian pedigrees. These cattle are moderate framed, easy keepers and great mothers. We take pride in having a low maintenance program. Culling hard keeps the quality high. Our bulls this year come from the top 25% of the males. We have a variety of different herd sire prospects available this year. Some of the Sires of these bulls are a result of A.I. breeding from some of our herd sires from the 80s and 90s.Visitors are all-ways welcome to view our herd any time or just give us a call.

We are thankful to be a part of the Highway 16 West MultiBreed Bull Sale. We raise Red Angus cow/calf pairs in the Peers area and have enjoyed getting to know the friendly community that surrounds us. We appreciate the quiet temperament and maternal instincts of our cattle. They are raised on good pasture, clean water and free choice salt and mineral. These low maintenance cows are excellent to work with and have sound feet and udders. We hear again and again from guests visiting the ranch about the good looks and quiet nature of our cattle. Understanding EPD's Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) are used to compare the genetic merit of animals in various traits. An EPD predicts the difference in performance of future offspring of a parent, as compared to progeny from other parents, when each are bred to mates of equal value. Remember, the observed performance of an animal is determined by both genetics and environment, and EPDs only predict differences due to genes passed on from parent to offspring.

EPDs are useful when directly comparing two animals of the same breed for a specific trait. By comparing an animal’s EPD for a given trait to the average EPD of all animals, one can determine if the animal is above or below average.

Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire's ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Calving Ease Direct (CED or CE), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers bred to the bull.

Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire's ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire's ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.

Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters sired by the bull.

Maternal Milk EPD (Milk or MK), is a predictor of a sire's genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf's weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.

Maternal Weaning Weight (MW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the difference in weaning weight of an animal’s daughter’s calves.

Total Maternal (TM), expressed in pounds, is a measure of both growth and milking ability.

TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. The Consignors reserve the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, the Consignors reserve full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publically or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, re-bidding will be opened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid.

The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INFORMATION SUPPLIED - The information contained in this catalogue is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the sellers and Timberlind Auctions does not

assume any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate.

CATTLE PICTURES - The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals. Timberlind Auctions assumes no responsibility if the images as received have been altered.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - The proper Registration Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made.

SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Sellers. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement. Bulls can be kept at the consignor(s) farms until May 1st at no charge. After May 1st, a charge of $2/day will apply. GUARANTEE - These are papered, 100% guaranteed breeding bulls according to each breed registry. The bulls are all semen tested by qualified veterinarians.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.
