This year I have lined up the last nine offspring of DVE King 63U, our herd bull. King left us with a lot of powerful cows in our herd and also a great legacy of bulls to choose from. My bulls are raised on their own dams, with no creep feed. After weaning they go on hay and pellets. During the summer they are on pasture with no creep feed. They are brought in, in late fall and again are fed hay and pellets. I cull my cows hard—on feet, udders, and dispositions. I like to keep it simple—no fads, no fuss, no frills—just honest, hardworking, low maintenance cattle. The bulls are in moderate condition so they can better acclimatize themselves to your operation. Welcome to our third annual Highway 16 West Multi Breed Bull Sale. Kāla Ranch is extremely proud to be part of this coalition of breeders offering ranch raised, slow grown bulls that have the lasting power you demand.

Kāla Ranch is 2 miles south on RR111 off of Highway 16. Geza has owned land in the Nojack area for 35+ years, but we officially made it our home in 2003. Farming has been a part of most of our lives and we’ve been raising purebred Black Angus since 2004.

Our Black Angus seed stock came from Black Gem, Sandy Bar and Crowfoot. We use a wholistic approach to our herd management and therefore haven’t had to deal with scours, pneumonia, foot rot and the like. We vaccinate with 8 way and 5 way and Dectomax twice a year. Our feeding program consists of pasture, hay and a small but consistent grain/finish feed ration all year long. Our cattle are not pushed nor pampered.

The 3 virgin long yearlings we have up for offer all come from sound genetics. They are athletic instead of fat, and will be ready to go to work as 2 year olds when most of you are ready to breed. They’ve been held back because of age, not performance. We’ve used these lines with great satisfaction and we’re confident you’ll be happy with their performance.

This past year has been yet another busy year. I got married last fall to Dusty Burns. We both are very excited to pursue the beef industry together.

The yearling on offer shows some great traits such as depth, width and a quiet temperament, he is from a daughter from 27Y’s dam (just keeping it in the family).

We have brought back the yearling 27Y from last year as a 2 year old; he will be ready to breed as he has matured very well over the past year.

This is our 3rd year we have been together as a group. What a lot of fun working with this awesome group of people. Our family farm operates a 250 purebred cow/calf herd southwest of Mayerthorpe that has been in the family for over 50 years. We are second generation farmers. We like the traditional Angus. Our cattle lines are mostly Straight Canadian pedigree. These cattle are moderate framed, easy keepers and great mothers. We pride ourselves in being a low maintenance herd. Culling hard keeps the quality high. Our bull calves are from the top 30% of our calf crop. Visitors are always welcome to view our herd any time or call.

They have good hair coats, volume, thickness and depth. I must give my cows credit for doing a remarkable job on these calves. They weaned off the cow 3.11 avg no creep feed. We have been doing weights for EPD’s and it is actually showing some creditable statistics.

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made.

The Consignors reserve the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle.

Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, the Consignors reserve full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publically or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, re-bidding will be opened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.
