Welcome and thank you for attending our 2024 sale. These horses are the result of selective breeding practices with conformation and trainability in mind. Enjoy this family friendly setting, examine the horses, visit with old friends or make new ones, and enjoy the day!

GENERAL INFORMATION

All horses will be available for viewing from Thursday, May 30th through auction close on June 1st. Horses will be held at the Three Creek Livestock Auction (formerly Hugo Livestock), Hugo, Oklahoma To save time, preregister via phone - 580-326-2488 or in-person at the office; bidding numbers will be issued the morning of the sale.

Horses will be penned on the west side of the auction facilities the day of the sale and will remain so until sold. Horses will NOT be sold through the auction ring nor before the sale. If we may be of assistance in animal selection, please do not hesitate to inquire.

Beautiful palomino stallion: well balanced, heavily muscled. Bred and raised by long-time friend and neighbor, Bruce Hammons, who always had a keen eye for a good horse. He is crossing well on our ranch mares. Toughy sires colts with good conformation, lots of color, and eye appeal.

Crossing Toughy on our ranch mares has resulted in a set of attractive replacement fillies with big hips, pretty heads and lots of shape.

Boon is a 14 2 H, thick-bodied, big hipped, low hocked, very well balanced stallion. He crosses well on our Teques Cowboy Up (Cowboy) daughters, producing foals that are good-minded and very trainable. As well, Boon was crossed on a select group of Rubys Cuttin Cat daughters and we are very pleased with the resulting foals. We’d love for you to visit the ranch and see for yourself.

Mutt is a maternal half-brother to Dexter 77 and the stallion we chose to replace his sire, Little Tough Pistol. He has the conformation it takes to raise ranch/performance horses with looks and size. He is well-balanced as evidenced by a short back, long underline, big hip, short cannon bones, and low set hocks. As well, Mutt has lots of bone and good black feet. A beautiful buckskin, Mutt has a super disposition and was easy to start with a trainable, willing attitude.

Drift Bar Jack

Docs Miss J Bird

Although not registered, we have sold three full siblings to this colt that have all made nice horses. Hangover is out of a daughter of Miss N Command, NCHA Non-pro Derby Champion.

Lots 31 and 32 belong to Mark Holder of Vian, Oklahoma and were purchased at the ranch as yearlings. He bought them for his son to train as rope horses, but after starting them, Dillon took a job in Texas, prohibiting training completion. Call Mark - 918-773-2125

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

BIDDING

Every bidder/buyer MUST obtain a bidding number in the office; NO bids will be taken without one! Photo identification is required to receive a buyer’s number. Each horse will sell to the highest bidder. All horses become the property of each respective buyer upon auction end and full payment.

Auction Bidding Format:

Bidding will commence at 10:30 a.m. and extend to or after 1:00 p.m. A BIDDING BOARD will be assembled in the auction ring managed by a team of bid takers, who will receive and post all bids

To place a bid:

-Submit bidding information: lot choice, bid amount, buyer number and signature/initials -All pertinent information will be noted under the lot selection on the Bidding Board

Bidding increments: Up to $2999 – minimum bid is $50 $3000 & up – minimum bid is $100

Auction End and Extended Bidding:

1. Extended bidding means that the auction will remain active until there has been two (2) minutes of bidding inactivity, even if the original ending time has been reached.

2. IF there is NO bidding activity within the last two (2) minutes, the auction ends and all lots will close simultaneously at 1:00 p.m

3. IF a bid has been placed (on any lot) in the last two (2) minutes before 1:00 p.m., extended bidding will start.

4. The extended bidding period is in two (2) minute increments until there are no bids received within that time period.

Examples:

#1: There is no bidding from 12:58 to 1:00 p.m. All lots are declared closed and the sale ends at 1:00 p.m.

#2: There IS a bid(s) placed at 12:58 p.m.; auction is extended by two (2) minutes. IF no more bidding occurs, all lots are declared closed and the sale ends at 1:00 p.m.

#3: There is a bid placed at 12:59 p.m. Auction is extended by two (2) minutes until 1:01 p.m. Another bid is placed at 1:01 p.m. No more bids are placed. All lots are declared closed and the sale ends at 1:01 p.m.

Benefits of this style of auction:

1) Buyer has the CHOICE to switch to any Lot in the offering if he/she is outbid on his/her current choice.

2) Buyer does not have to deal with the ‘seller’s order’ of sale because all Lots are offered and bid on simultaneously.

3) Buyers are given the opportunity to raise their bid on any Lot continuously, in turn, within the time constraints.

4) The buyer has true choices and more time to make decisions.

TIE BREAKER:

In the event of a tied bid when the sale is called/ended: 1) Of the two tied bidders, the first bid per the time posted will be given the first option to increase his/her bid amount to break the tie. 2) Thereafter, time will continue in two minute increments, until the there is no bid for two minutes and the tie is broken.

30

PAYMENT

Terms of the sale are cash, and payment in full must be made to the cashier immediately after the sale. Payment must be in the form of cash, cashier’s check or personal check (U.S. currency only). Photo identification is required with all checks. No horse shall leave the grounds without a bill of sale.

AQHA registration papers, if applicable, will be issued to the buyer at the time of payment. Transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

RISK

Title passes to the buyer and he/she becomes responsible for his/her purchase as soon as the auction closes. At such time, buyer assumes all risk of loss and the responsibility, maintenance, care and expenses of the horse. If a horse must be left overnight, arrangements must be made with the office staff at Three Creek Livestock Auction.

HEALTH

Buyers are strongly encouraged to thoroughly examine the horse(s) that interest them. Any known blemishes or defects will be noted on the horse’s individual ticket. A veterinarian will be available to write health papers; buyer will be responsible for the cost.

An Oklahoma Cowboy, Rancher, & Horseman

Warren Custer (August 15, 1928 – October 30, 2023)

As a young man, Warren loved calf roping, coyote hunting, playing tennis, dancing, and riding motorcycles, which attributed to his right leg being broken multiple times. Warren graduated from Grainola (Oklahoma) High School in 1946. He was an avid basketball player and loved poetry.

As the youngest child, he stayed home and took care of the family and the farm while three of his brothers served in World War II. His love of calf roping was replaced with more responsibilities on the farm/ranch, which he continued in Osage County, Oklahoma and Cowley County, Kansas before moving to Choctaw County, Oklahoma. His eternal optimism continued through the years with his lovely wife, Marilyn, and five children, always on a ranch.

Warren will forever be remembered for using a tractor as a bulldozer and a high lift jack as a multi-purpose tool, both of which were likely not for their original purpose. His favored sayings were, “That’s no step for a stepper” and “Suits the hell out of me.” Another of his favorites, especially during trying times, was “Illegitimi non carborundum.” The family couldn’t have asked for a better role model and will miss him every day. His memory and legacy of (unconditional) love will live on in the hearts of so many, family and friends alike. He made every child and grandchild feel like they were the favorite and special. He loved to teach, and everything was always a lesson.

Tough, tender, and loving are apt descriptors for this ranching cowboy that loved to waltz around the living room with his lovely bride of 66 years. His was a life well lived
