Centuries ago, when men had a more imminent view of death, authors such as John Donne and Percy Bysshe Shelley tried to vanquish their mortality through writing. Here young Topekan authors have created a collection of their own epitaphs to remain eternal in the minds of other young readers.

A compilation of poems, artwork, and photographs are captured here in this magazine put together by young adults from the areas surrounding the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library . This group of teens was inspired to create a voice for themselves and especially other Topeka writers.

- Zora Neale Hurston I first conceived of this magazine over a year ago, and though we suffered some false starts , I’m proud that we are able to present the first edition of the Topeka and Shawnee County Library’s teen literary magazine The Hidden Edge..

Within is a sample of the voices and visions of our local teens. This is a place where teens can tell their stories, share their emotions and grow through their artistic journeys. I thank them for their courage in sharing their creations.
