Taking the Library to Seniors Through Red Carpet Senior Services, the library offers a unique connection to seniors in retirement complexes, adult care facilities, senior centers and homes. We take the library to them by bringing books, movies, music and games to thousands in the Topeka and Shawnee County community.

Classics Made Modern

In December discuss The Cricket on the Hearth: A Fairy Tale of Home by Charles Dickens, the third of his five Christmas novellas, first published in 1845. Places in the Library The Robert and Hazel Lingo Rotunda (main library entrance) is a copper-clad tower that renowned architect Michael Graves designed to represent a beacon light for Topeka. The Lingos made several major gifts to the library during their lifetime and made an estate gift of $1.2 million. We use the rotunda to highlight big events, display art and as a musical performance venue in the winter.
