Every Tuesday, a group of ten second-grade students makes a difference in the lives of residents at Rome Health. 10 serve as pen pals with residents at Rome Health, the best part is that Rosie the therapy dog is doing the delivery. Meanwhile, other second graders take turns getting creative, making beautiful decorations that we display in the Group room.

Eric Gage Weather Presentation

Connected Bradley Elementary School’s third graders had an exciting visit from WKTV Meteorologist Eric Gage! He taught students about local weather, demonstrated forecasting tools, and even created a tornado funnel using water and glitter—a crowd favorite.

Eric wrapped up by answering students’ thoughtful questions, including how early he wakes up to prepare for broadcasts. Our young scientists were inspired by his visit—thank you, Eric, for a fun and educational experience!

Val from Reality Check came in during both the Middle and High School Lunch Periods. During these times, approximately fifteen students stopped in during the sessions to learn more about Reality Check's Mission on countering tobacco and vaping marketing that is aimed at youth. Val was able to share with the group of students engaging information, answered their questions and encouraged the students to take a more active role in promoting healthier choices with their peers and throughout their communities. The visit sparked genuine interest, and three students took applications to become Youth Ambassadors for the Reality Check Program. Val will be returning on December 10th to continue the conversations and offer additional opportunities for the students to get involved.
