Dear CBI Family,
As we welcome the secular year of 2025, I’m excited to share that plans for CBI’s full campus renovation are in full swing! Partnering with the renowned team at Finegold/Alexander and a dedicated group of leaders from both our congregation and beyond, I am confident that our ambitious expansion plans will be a resounding success. But to make this vision a reality, we need your support.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more details about the renovations and the transformative impact we hope to achieve as a congregation This is a labor of love for our CBI community, and there will be meaningful opportunities for everyone to contribute at a level that feels comfortable for you.
A LETTER FROM STEVE ALLEN

Whether it’s enhancing the Sanctuary and surrounding spaces, upgrading our school facilities including classrooms, common areas, and restrooms—or supporting the creation of a welcoming main entrance that fosters a strong Jewish connection, every contribution makes a difference Your support will also help us continue upgrading safety and security measures to ensure CBI remains a safe and sacred space for generations L’Dor V’Dor.
As the “Congregation with a Conscience,” we are committed to making a meaningful impact, both within our community and in Israel This project reflects that mission, and we hope you’ll take pride in being part of it
I’m always available to answer any questions you may have and encourage you to learn more about this initiative. We’re planning a variety of events large and small to engage and inspire everyone to join us in this transformative journey.

OUR RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
What a fantastic first semester it’s been at SLJ! From meaningful Mishpacha (Family) Moments to unforgettable grade-level Shabbatot, we've had an amazing time together Our students are diving into the new Judaics curriculum with so much enthusiasm, and we’ve been thrilled to see how much they’re enjoying the hands-on, project-based learning across all grades.
Here are just a few highlights from our fall semester:
6th Grade B’nai Mitzvah Seminar: This special seminar brought together our 6th graders, their families, and our CBI clergy to dive deep into the B’nai Mitzvah process Together, we made custom Yads, shared personal reflections, and explored the significance of this major milestone. These sessions were filled with meaning, connection, and inspiration.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Shabbat: The Shabbat celebration with Miss Susan and me was nothing short of magical! We enjoyed a delicious dinner where we gathered as a community and then sang our way through Friday night with joy and enthusiasm The spirit in the room was truly unforgettable.
5th Grade Mishpacha Moments: Our 5th graders and their parents came together to discuss the Power of Words with Cantor Muchnick. This session sparked deep conversations about how our words impact ourselves, our loved ones, and the wider community It was a meaningful moment of reflection and connection 8th-12th Grade Electives: Our teens have been enjoying a whole new approach to learning! From Jewish Cooking to Teen Leadership, Judaism & Film, Addressing Antisemitism, Jews in Sports, and Hot Topics, our students have been exploring areas that excite and inspire them We’re excited for the next round of electives in the coming semester!
Chanukah Kickoff: Our Pre-K through 2nd graders truly wowed us with their Chanukah performances! Their energy, singing, and ruach (spirit) lit up the room and set the stage for an incredible Chanukah celebration. After weeks of practice, their shows were a hit – and we ended the day with plenty of Sufganiyot!
Chanukah Fundraiser – Candles for a Cause: A huge thank you to everyone who supported our SLJ Parents Organization’s Chanukah fundraiser! Thanks to your generosity, we sold out of all our candles and helped the Safed Candle Company during a challenging time. Your support means the world.
These are just a few of the incredible programs we've shared in the first semester Looking ahead, we’re gearing up for an even busier and more exciting second semester We can't wait to continue learning with our amazing SLJ students, engage in more family programs, and have tons of fun at our upcoming youth group events!
As always, if you have any questions about SLJ, please feel free to reach out to me at any time
L'Shalom, Carly

MAZEL TOV!
The B’nai Mitzvah experience marks the transition from childhood to responsible adulthood. Judaism, both in belief and deed, is guided by mitzvot, those lessons of the ages that give structure, meaning, and purpose to our lives. In our congregation, this important chapter in a child’s life brings the entire family together to celebrate a time-honored tradition and create a memorable Jewish experience.
