Welcome! I hope you are all doing OK in this cold. Seriously though, I feel like we blinked and it’s mid - July! We are super excited about the next part of the year with the 2022 Party Stylist of the Year Awards gala coming up, our 10th birthday and also my 40th (gulp)! So, this issue is… over 100 pages of goodness! WOW! It’s great to see that despite the world feeling quite upside down at the moment and all over the place, parties are in full swing! Parties make us happy and create new memories which we definitely all need! This issue features some trending themed parties which are literally just OMG, WOW! #OBSESSED! I honestly cannot get enough of flicking through this so we are super duper excited to share this with you so you can also fall in love! MALTESER SHIMMER CAKE Add some shine and shimmer to your next celebration cake! A legit easy-to-execute cake design that’ll up the ante on your typical chocolate cake. By Amber Comadira-Smith from Cake With Amber
METHOD
TOOLS + MATERIALS • Lustre dust – 2 colours of your choosing • Maltesers • A 6-inch cake frosted with buttercream or covered in fondant • 2 large zip-lock bags • 2 bowls
1.
Divide your Maltesers evenly into two bowls – one bowl per lustre colour.

Add approx ¼ tsp of your first lustre colour into a large ziplock bag. Starting with your first bowl, tip a quarter of your Maltesers into the bag and seal it shut.

Using your hands, massage your bag of Malteasers to spread the lustre dust. This will coat your maltesers in a shimmery layer of colour! If you’re not getting full coverage, add a touch more lustre dust into your bag. Repeat this process until all of your Maltesers are coloured.

Adhere your Maltesers to your cake using buttercream or royal icing. Have fun alternating colours and creating cool patterns! This can be a little time-consuming, so make sure you have your favourite playlist or podcast playing. Once you’re finished, complete your cake design with your favourite cake topper, and enjoy this delicious and shimmery celebration cake!

One can never get enough of a Barbie party! So when CottonOn released their Barbie EXTRA clothes range around about the time of the 2021 lockdown, we knew we definitely had to grab our girl gang and get shooting. After having to postpone twice due to spicy flu (thanks but no thanks COVID), we were ready to rock! Rather than the traditional pink, we wanted to pay homage to the fun, colour and message that Barbie conveys. Including some retro elements was also a must, because Barbie just has that nostalgic effect on all of us! Lots of bright colours, a life-size boom box and a Barbie box lay the foundation for our backdrop. Now no outfit, especially when it is EXTRA is complete without coloured hair and braids, thank you to Sydney’s queen of braids The Braid Boss! With each little one dressed in their outift and hair done, it was time to sit down to a table of desserts! Our Cricut got a workout on this shoot, which was super exciting as each girl got a Barbie quote on their meal box and a personalised bottle. So many smiles, fun and happiness...oh to be a kid again! We looked for quotes and messages which spoke of love, friendship, kindness and confidence – all the qualities our girls need to feel empowered and strong! Using our Cricut JOY, we cut them out of vinyl and applied them to these pink boxes which were choc-full of goodies! 18 confettifair.com.au

When Lottie’s Mum contacted me asking for a girly robot-themed first birthday party for her daughter aptly nicknamed ‘Lot Bot,’ I was excited for the challenge! Gorgeous, illustrated robots dictated the colour palette of pink, purple, orange, green, blue and yellow. However, due to the skinny robot body parts, it was necessary to have arch-shaped standees custom designed in lieu of cutting the robots to shape and risking snapped limbs! A matching seamless robot print was custom printed onto fabric and made into tablecloths to adorn the children’s table, with plain pastel tableware in our chosen colour palette counterbalancing the busyness of the tablecloth. Acrylic risers filled with colourful honeycomb balls displayed the children’s grazing in easy reach of hungry little guests. Custom ‘Lot Bot’ napkin wraps and ‘Lot Bot is Upgrading to Version 1.0’ water bottle wraps complimented the signage used on the backdrop setting. Following family tradition, Lot Bot’s grandmother lovingly made her birthday cake, with donuts, cake cones and cookies decorated with robot cogs completing the dessert cart. An extensive soft-play zone and white jumping castle, complete with bright balloon garland, kept young partygoers well entertained. Robot golden books for toddler guests and gourmet fairy floss tubs with robot stickers for the older kids sat on the 3D favour wall ready for home time. H

After a crazy 12 months of lockdowns, restrictions and postponing multiple times Rustic balloons Melbourne was so excited to celebrate Lucy’s last night of being twenty-one! Instead of having a twenty-one plus one, we agreed it was best to celebrate the last 24 hours in style and created a bright, fun and luxe theme of “La dolce vita” (meaning the sweet life). Lucy comes from an Italian background and dreamed of recreating an Italian summer party, in Melbourne’s cold winter month. We wanted to create something different and vibrant and had to work with her favourite Italian drink Aranciata Rossa (blood-orange) as inspiration. We brought the theme to life using all white tableware, table risers, different shaped and textured backdrops, ripple plinths, vases, fresh flowers, bright orange toned balloons, lots of traditional food and drinks and of course fresh oranges everywhere. Thanks to our wonderful photographer Zena, we were able to capture this gorgeous Italian festive event of dancing to traditional Italian music, having Italian Bellini at the bar, chatting with friends and family and making many memories that were unforgettable. It was fair to say the night was a fun Italian fiesta! H

“Always classy, a little bit sassy but never trashy.” What a fun way to celebrate your last soirée before you become a bride. This 1950’s themed bachelorette party, was designed to incorporate the bride-to-be’s, love of the 1950s era, especially the 1950s pin-up girls. To create a special night, we transformed a warehouse into a 195’s diner, in shades of pink (being the bride-to-be, favourite colour). The set-up included a 1950’s diner, a cocktail room featuring beautiful pink, and pink rose florals where the guests had fun enjoying frozen cocktails, a dining area for delicious canapés, and photo walls. The bridal party arrived in style, and all the guests came dressed in 1950s fashion, to celebrate the bride-to-be’s special night. And it wouldn’t be a bachelorette party without a surprise, and the gorgeous “Demilicious” was not only a show stopper with her routine, but was a fabulous (and hilarious) MC throughout the night. A night to remember for Sam, with frozen cocktails, champagne and her closest friends and family celebrating in style, her upcoming wedding.H

When Perth mum Ash found out she’d won a gorgeous kids’ party valued at more than $3,000, the mother of three young boys was blown away: “I’ve never won anything before!” She knew instantly what sort of celebration she wanted: an Encanto-themed fourth birthday party for her middle son, Kaiahn. The brief was simple: lots of flowers and colours, just like the Disney film which had so captivated Ash and her family. It was music to the ears of Ali from Stylish Soirées, who had organised the competition. The stylist relished the opportunity to create a riot of gorgeous blooms and balloons that were wonderfully colourful without ever being garish. The magical palette was carried through by the other vendors who’d teamed up with Stylish Soirées for the competition. From Favor Lane Party’s table settings and Barley Boy’s cake topper and signage, to Oh Goodie’s party bags and The Sugar Fairy’s cupcakes and cookies, every item was custom-made or cleverly curated to complement the vibrant hues. A light-up number “4” from Vintage Letters and styling/prop assistance from Creative Themes were the perfect finishing touches at the event, which was beautifully photographed by P.S Smile Production. But it was more than just the colour palette that paid homage to <Encanto>. Ali made sure that other elements synonymous with the film took centre stage, such as the glorious flower swing (the perfect spot to showcase the birthday cake from 2 Make It Sweet), and the film’s iconic door. A printed backdrop just wasn’t going to cut it, so Ali created a three-dimensional timber door, complete with brass door knocker and handle. The result was simply spectacular – and so realistic that the birthday boy kept knocking at the door, longing to go through!H

From the exquisite staging featuring our white candy cart and newly constructed pink walls with custom black decals from The Vinyl Mum depicting the Eiffel Tower and French theme, to the stunning floral display from Flowers by Louise and a balloon display to die for from Balloons that Rock – this party was designed to appear as though it had been illustrated by Megan Hess herself. We especially loved creating the paper flowers that looked so elegant on the back of the children’s white Tiffany chairs which complimented the party table featuring tableware by Megan Hess, tubs of fairy floss from Floss’d with Claris the Mouse custom labels and a fabulous high tea of sweet treats provided by Sabilicious Cakes. Our showstopping birthday cake was created by Pipoah Cakes with two tiers of cakey sweetness – one tier representing a page from the book whilst the other represented a swan at the request of the birthday girl. Other sweet treats included; custom cookies from Flyawaypineapple (especially loved the ‘press for cheese’); magnum Cake Pops from Launnie Pops (OMG the decorative detail was incredible); mini dessert cups from Sabilicious Cakes (little pots of deliciousness) and cupcakes featuring both Claris the Mouse and Swans from Pipoah Cakes (so adorable). Handmade soaps in the shape of a swan from Carelle Creations were gifted to our guests to enjoy as party favours. Much fun was had as we entertained the children with a fashion show and lots of games and face painting before completing the day with a photo on the front lawn with the Sign Fairy’s giant Happy Birthday lawn signage.H

Logan’s School of Wizardry came to life when my son, who loves all things Harry Potter, asked if he could go to Harry Potter World with his friends for his 6th Birthday. Guests were invited to Logans School of Wizardry with a magical video invitation, and the countdown was on. The best part of designing the layout and all the details, was the time spent with my son and daughter, being the Wizard experts asking for their input and thoughts as I designed the layout and all the details. As guests arrived, they walked through the magical school entrance, into a dining hall and Wizards Alley. The children loved the two wizards’ shops, where there were magical books, potions, crystals and of course lots and lots of handmade wand boxes., which I had made to fit the cutest wand pencils for the guests to take home. One of my favourite elements I made, were the personalised Potion Spell Books , that opened up into gift boxes for the children filled with magical wizard treats. Key features of the set-up included the 13-metre Wizard Dining Hall with Gold Owl Lectern and the incredible spell book birthday cake from Sugar Fairy Perth (which was mistaken for a prop). There was also the wizard entrance, and the two interactive Wizard Shops, with the special new 3D shaker treat boxes and gorgeous gifts from Oh Goodie!. The children’s party table was styled with shield placemats, and the cutest wizard envelope napkins and pencils. The children were entertained by witches, where they learnt about being a wizard and witch including new spells and made their own magic potions. The best part was seeing how much fun all the children had at their own Wizards School.H

Disco Revival Whitney’s disco, was a colour palette of vibrant hot pink, purple, orange and blue combined with shiny disco balls were key - with custom pink dancefloor, backdrop panels, 3D favour wall and wave children’s table used to set the party scene. Hot pink acrylic chairs perfectly complimented the pink wave-table, with acrylic risers filled with disco balls, honeycomb balls and iridescent strands used to display sparkly donuts and cakesicles with holographic popsicle sticks. Stunning tableware, including custom disco ball drink tags with ‘time to boogie’ and ‘your disco needs you’ and realistic disco ball plates completed each place setting. Entertainment included dancing together with a glitter tattoos station and custom mirror so guests could admire their sparkles. The cake was colour palette perfection and was finished with disco balls and custom name plaque. The cake was displayed on a suspended shelf built into the backdrop panel. The 3D favour wall was filled with individual disco ball smash ‘cakes’ for partygoers to take home.
