Governor expected to attend 9-tribe conference Dec. 3

MISSION - The Oregon Tribal State Government-to-Government Summit will take place at Wildhorse Resort & Casino on Dec. 3. Gov. Kate Brown is expected to attend the annual event, which will bring together state agency directors, statewide elected officials as well as legislators and representatives from all nine federally recognized Tribes in Oregon. This is the first time in more than 10 years that the Summit has been hosted by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The theme of this year’s summit is “Shared Opportunities: Learning from our past and working together to build a better future.” Participants will meet and discuss collaboration between the State and Oregon’s nine Tribes to enhance economic opportunity in Tribal communities. A “Night at the Museum” event on Dec. 2 at Tamastslikt Cultural Institute will serve as a welcome to all the participants arriving from around the state. The Public Safety Cluster and the Cultural Resources Cluster will hold meetings on Monday as well.
