Only one ofthe cars was carrying a hazardous substance, which is used in making a commercial strength adhesive. Tribal Fire Deparment was first on the scene, which was near the border of the Umatilla and Union County lines. The state's HazMat Teamin Hermiston was called, along with officals from the railroad and federal agencies. There's more on Page 4. Photo by Audfe Huber, CTUIR Department of Natural Resources

Woman faces prison for interupting family fishing Gibbon resident points rifle at boy as family attempts to exercise right to fish on Umatilla MISSION — A Gibbon woman could find herself behind bars — but most likely will get probation — for trying to chase a tribal family away from the Umatilla
River where they were trying to fish. Marilyn Elaine Pickler,60, faces a maximum penalty of six months in federal prison for each of two chargessimple assault and pointing a firearm at another person. Pickler pleaded not guilty last year, following a July 29,2014 incident, and was found guilty at trial Feb. 3 in Portland in front of U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown. Sentencing is set for May 15 following a pre-sentence report. The facts at trial showed that in June Pickler confronted tribal members — the family of K.C. Picard and
Dionne Bronson — who were fishing on the Umatilla River. Pickler accused them of trespassing on her father's property at Gibbon. According to testimony, Pickler was upset with the tribal members and threatened to slash the tires on their car. Picard reported the threat to police. Two months later in July, the family was fishing upriver at the"Elephant Rock" hole. The family parked thecar and their three children ran to the river ahead of See Famil fishin P a e 37
