LAVOIE HEADS TO EDMONTON ryan Holt | bakersfield condors
It’s probably the best part of the gig Lavoie, 23, was just named the for an American Hockey League head AHL’s Player of the Week for his six point week which included two coach. The moment you get to deliver the best news in the world to multi-goal games. Last season, he a young, budding prospect that he’s led the Condors in goals with 25. about to realize his dream of going to the National Hockey League.
For Lavoie, he would become the 20th Condor to make his NHL debut in the AHL era. Earlier this week, when fellow Condor Sam Gagner, who’s played over 1,000 NHL games was recalled, Raph was able to put it all in perspective.
For the 20th time since the Condors joined the AHL, that moment happened. This time, it was Colin Chaulk delivering the good news to the team’s leading scorer Raphael “It’s always special to be in the Lavoie. room to tell a guy he’s going to Edmonton,” said Chaulk. “We celebrate these moments. Raph is a guy who has put the time in here in Bakersfield. He’s grown on the ice, he’s grown off the ice, and he’s deserving of this opportunity. It’s definitely special.”
“Of course you want to get called up. It’s something you’ve worked your whole life towards a dream of playing in the NHL,” he said. “Put when you get called up you want to have an impact and be up there for good. I wouldn’t mind playing seven minutes a night and sitting on the bench though either (laughing).”
“We had a lot of hard conversations with Raph when he was younger. About being harder on pucks, being tough in the defensive zone, and managing the game. He has incredible God given talent and an ability to shoot the puck, but his ability to be a complete player is what got him to this point and that didn’t come without hard work, sacrifice, and a will to get better.”
His head coach has seen his development first hand.

SCOTT HOWSON PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE
The AHL is as proud as ever of its role in developing nearly all of the players, coaches, executives, trainers, broadcasters and officials who you see throughout the National Hockey League today. Generations of our great fans have cheered on future superstars, Stanley Cup champions and Hockey Hall of Famers as they have come through the AHL. This season is sure to be another memorable one, from the excitement of opening night to the pageantry of the AHL All-Star Classic in San Jose to the thrills and emotion of the Calder Cup Playoffs. On behalf of all of our teams, thank you for your continuing support of the AHL. Sincerely,
Scott Howson President & CEO | American Hockey League
