An inflatable boat was launched to help Paul but he had disappeared beneath the water by the time emergency crews arrived . The crew ~ventually used the boat's anchor to bring. him to the surface before paramedics attempted to resuscitate him on the riverbank. The 26-year old was pronounced dead at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital . Claims made by the press that there was no life ring by the side of the river have been quashed by Police Officer, David Green acre.

It is believed they were Paul and his friend .

The second man was black, aged 26 to 30, between 6ft I in and 6ft 3in tall. two women were both white, aged between 17 and 18 and both had long blonde hair. lt is believed ihey were called Kerry and Danielle. Members of this group may be able to assist the police with the last movements of Paul and his friend . An inquest at Norwich Magistrates Court on Friday February 7 heard that Paul had been in the water for 40 minutes before members of the pu~lic saw him stuggling in the river.
