DIRECTOR'S NOTES A YEAR AGO, I WENT LOOKING FOR AN UPLIFTING, delightful story to tell, to wholeheartedly welcome the Concordia community back to live theatre. I think the initial suggestion came from Kelton, whom I ended up casting as Jesse. I was hoping to celebrate life and to connect to the families that live around the Concordia campus. I reckoned we might need a Spring (pun intended) of renewal after a long winter and two plus years of loss and deferred hope. And that was before Ukraine. As with any theatre project, this is an invitation - to music that is gorgeous and fun, and themes about living life to the fullest and being responsible for our choices. I hope we’ve learned something over the last two years, especially when it comes to deciding what's important and making our lives mean something. This coming-of-age tale of an 11-year-old girl who goes on the adventure of a lifetime, seems right for this time. It's a little on the sentimental side (what fairy tale isn't?!), but it's also full of wonder and has a tender heart. This may sound cliché, but it is unequivocally true… This show simply could not have happened without our entire team: a fearless and dedicated cast, committed and resourceful Stage Management, and diligent, fun, creative collaborators on every level. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. Your dedication, patience, mutual support, and our collective sense of mischief and fun are the centre of this endeavour. I am so proud of the beautiful thing we’ve created. Thank-you. As for the rest a yaz... Enjoy!! – Michael

SPECIAL THANKS: Nico Vanderkley, Kate Holt, Dewey Holt, Kai Waselius, Michael Walsh, Chris Bullough, John Brough, Gordon Holt, Daniel van Heyst, Lori Mohacsy, Chris Wilson, Karen Johnson-Diamond, Matthew Gusul, John Adria, CUE Bookstore, CUE’s Communication Team and all the many folks who supported the cast and crew through the rehearsal process.

CAST AND CREW BIOS Adam Mongomery (Angus Tuck) Adam Montgomery is a second-year drama major at Concordia University of Edmonton with a minor in early childhood studies. He has played many roles such as Officer Krupke from West Side Story, Professor Higgin’s from My Fair Lady, Henry Frank from The Turtle that Rocked. Adam also participated in last year’s CUE100 Cabaret online special. It included a variety of scenes and songs from the decades over the last 100 years. Before Adam attended Concordia he was part of an Improv group called Go 4 Broke so you won’t even know if he missed a line. You may have seen his improv show at The Fringe called Improv Against Humanity. One of his favorite moments from rehearsing Tuck is the camaraderie formed with cast and crew, it’s like a second family. He hopes that you enjoy the show and feel the magic that is Tuck Everlasting!

CAST AND CREW BIOS

Ainsley Hillyard (Choreographer) Ainsley Hillyard is an Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton)-based artist of settler descent. She is a choreographer, performer and educator who works in contemporary dance and theatre. Select choreography credits include; Movement Director for Jane Eyre (Citadel Theatre), assistant choreographer for Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Citadel Theatre), Mr. Burns: A post electric play (You are Here theatre and Blarney Productions) Sterling nomination for Outstanding Choreography, Bears (Pyretic Productions) Sterling Award for Outstanding Choreography; Ursa Major (Catch The Keys Productions) Sterling nomination for Outstanding Choreography, and assistant choreographer for Hadestown (Citadel Theatre). Ainsley enjoys long walks with her French bulldog Jezebel and reading sci-fi.

Amelia Cottee (Sound & Light Operator) Amelia is a first-year drama student at Concordia. At twenty-three they feel out of place amongst most first years, but always find their place in the theatre. They’ve been involved (obsessed) with theatre for as long as they can remember, but it’s only recently they swapped over to the tech side of things. So far they absolutely love it. Amelia hopes you love the production as much as they do!

Angelica Moreno (Ensemble) Angelica is in her second-year as a Drama and Music student at Concordia. Her love for performing arts began in sixth grade when she started doing competitive dance and realized she loved being on stage. Eventually that led her to discover the passion for theatre and music! In high school, Angelica was part of a few shows and short films including: The Wizard of Oz Musical (as the Good Witch), Harry Potter (Ginny Weasley) and Christmas Show (Snowflake queen). Her favorite part of rehearsals for Tuck Everlasting has been getting to work with the amazing cast, connecting with new people and doing dance again! She also loves the choreo for ‘Everything’s Golden’ and the parking lot chats after rehearsals!

Annie Randall (Mae Tuck) Annie is in her 4th year of her BA music major/drama minor. She hopes to be accepted into the vocal performance graduate program next year. She is happy to be back in a musical on stage at Concordia. Her other CUE credits include: Siobhan (The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Nighttime), Rona Perretti (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and a part of The CUE 100 Cabaret. She has an extensive knowledge of random music, and as such is a fantastic edition to your name that tune team. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has enjoyed being a part of it!

CAST AND CREW BIOS

Betty Kolodziej (Costume Designer) Betty became involved with costumes many years ago while getting her voice opera degree from University of Alberta. Since then she has worked as costume co-ordinator, builder and/or designer for numerous theatre groups including Concrete Theatre, Concordia University, Keyano Theatre, Red Deer College, Beaumont High School and Foote in the Door. She was the costumer for Kompany! Dance and Edmonton Musical Theatre for over 20 years and has been a costumer for Opera Nuova for 22 years. Besides her costuming work she has been a member of the Edmonton Opera chorus for over 30 years.

Brad Hardstaff (Percussion) Brad Hardstaff is an Edmonton percussionist who has played with various local artists including Martin Kerr, Rob Heath, Chloe Albert, Rick Garvin and the OffWhyte Band.

Brittany Blommaert (Winnie Foster) Brittany Blommaert is in her 3rd year as a drama and music student here at CUE in hopes to become a High School Drama Teacher. She has always loved the theatre. From playing Chip the teacup in Beauty and the Beast to Cinderella from Into The Woods and now to Miss Winnie Foster, she loves portraying the characters that live life to the fullest. Brittany has loved working with such an amazing group of people, her fellow actors and also the amazing tech & stage heroes! Her favourite moment during the rehearsal process was when she walked out on the stage for the first time as Winnie! The goosebumps were real! She hopes that you enjoy the show and get ready to be swept away into the wonder of this enchanting story!

Carlene Lloyd (Ensemble) Carlene is a first-year student at Concordia who is majoring in drama and minoring in English. Carlene went to high school at Thorhild Central School, has had an interest in drama and performing arts since grade seven, and has been in multiple one-act shows since, like The Staggering Heartbreak of Jasmine Merryweather and Cheque Please. She has also been to one drama festival in high school before Covid started. After university, she is hoping to become a voice actor, but if that doesn’t work out, to come back for an education after-degree and become a drama teacher. Tuck Everlasting is the first musical she has performed in and will be by far the longest and the most intricate. One of her favourite parts in rehearsing for Tuck Everlasting would be the amazing energy everyone brought, even on the long days where we were all exhausted. continued

CAST AND CREW BIOS

Cassidy Hoekstra (Assistant Choreographer) Cassidy Hoekstra is a second year drama student with a minor in psychology. She was a performer in the cabaret for The CUE 100 Cabaret in 2021. Before coming to Concordia she acted in 5 musicals and countless plays. On top of acting Cassidy has directed plays, designed sets and lights as well as choreographed for 5 musicals, now adding number 6 - Tuck Everlasting. Cassidy has been acting as the Assistant Choreographer for this semester's musical adding her own choreography to numbers such as You Can’t Trust a Man and Partners in Crime. Cassidy has been training as a dancer for 18 years, still training and competing with Eye Candy Company and 3SB. One of Cassidy's favorite things about working on Tuck Everlasting was how open the cast was to trying new things. No matter what dance moves she threw at them or how many times she made them run dances they were always willing and made it a pleasure to work with them.

Chenuse Aitchedji (Ensemble) Chenu is an eccentric international first year student at Concordia. Majoring in theatre, and minoring in history, Chenu’s love of things “old fashioned” shines through in the Tuck Everlasting's 19th century circus and fairy magic atmosphere. With a talent for the comedic, having performed in absurdist comedies such as The Universal Language by David Ives, and renditions of Monty Python’s Flying circus skits, Chenu is jumping into musical theatre as part of the ensemble with little prior musical experience. Learning to marry his skills of song and dance has

been a welcome challenge. Also, having jumped from a small theatre class back in his previous school, Chenu is foreign to a cast and crew constituting more than 6 people, nevertheless, he’s had a great time being a part of such a large group, working alongside his fellows ensemble and co. to bring Tuck Everlasting to new life.

Daniel Belland (Keyboard) Daniel is an Edmonton-based pianist, music director and composer. Recent work includes original scores for One Song (Margin Release,) Imaginary Friend, Cult Cycle (Straight Edge Theatre,) and short film scores for Delivery (Anam Caras) and Home Again (Vicarious Playground). Recent music directing includes Into The Woods (Foote In The Door Productions,) Little Women (Scona Alumni Theatre Co.,) A Funny Thing On The Way To The Forum (Blue Bridge Repertory,) and A Little Night Music (Foote In The Door.) Daniel is also half of the pop duo Homofonik, with Josh Travnik. Instagram/twitter: @danielbelland | website: www.danielbelland.com

Nicole has been active in performing arts since 2006, beginning her journey in dance and more recently in theatre and voice. Her last production was a spinoff of the ever so classic A Christmas Carol, where she played the very fitting role of the bi-polar fairy of Christmas present. This being her last few months in Concordia, Nicole has deeply appreciated the opportunity to partake in theatre alongside a wonderful cast and crew. She is most thankful of the new connections she has made with her cast and is grateful for the chance to rekindle her love of theatre and performance. She has especially enjoyed that almost every rehearsal involves a fishing rod even though fishing is not the point of the play. Nicole is a member of the bi-weekly waffle sock squad, and she doesn't like wet bread.

Taylor Seibel (Nana) Taylor Seibel is a second-year drama student and a political science minor.
