Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) and the Thunder Athletics & Wellness department are proud members of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). We boast one of Alberta’s top athletic programs, with Academic All-Canadians during 2023-24 Season and CCAA National Scholar Award Recipients.
Since 1992, Thunder Athletics has expanded its high performance sports to include 12 teams and nearly 200 varsity student-athletes annually. As a member of the team, you’ll benefit from our top-notch coaching, small-campus environment and the incredible opportunities available to athletes in the city of Edmonton following graduation.

FACILITIES
The Ralph King Athletic Centre, located on CUE’s main campus, is the home of the Concordia Thunder. At approximately 11,000 square feet, the Ralph King gymnasium is ideal for most indoor sporting activities. With a full size basketball and volleyball court, the gym is open to students for training and recreation.
Also located in Ralph King is a 1,000 square foot fitness centre with a wide range of weights and workout equipment.
GIVING BACK
In and out of classrooms, practices and games, the Concordia Thunder are a community of active citizens. Deeply valuing community engagement, volunteering and giving back to those around them, the Concordia Thunder student-athletes:
Take part every December in Thunder Days of Giving , a volunteer-driven initiative aimed at providing care and assistance to communities in need.
Participate in ACAC’s annual Make Some Noise for Mental Health campaign, shining a spotlight on mental health.
Teamed up with the City of Edmonton to lead For Girls by Girls, a free drop-in program helping girls 8 to 17 build confidence and encourage their pursuit in sport and recreation.
