BACK TO SCHOOL. A LOOK BACK.

It certainly has been a busy time with long line-ups in the LB atrium, especially during the first week. We issued 791 ID cards on the first day! All in all, from August 28 to September 15, we issued a total of 7,086 ID cards.

LOYOLA LANDING

Over 200 students stopped by to get their IDs at the short-term pop-up location at Loyola Landing! This new centre aims to become a hub for all services on the Loyola campus.

Our goal is to have the employee overseeing parking at the centre on a regular basis and become the contact for all of our services.

In the meantime, Alex will be on-site every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A welcoming presence to Loyola!

EXPLORE SERVICE FAIR | SEPTEMBER 20

Throughout the three-hour event, almost 300 students swung by the Business Services table. They came to discover our services, snag a Concordia string backpack, and participate in the DPrint contest for a shot at winning one of ten $20 DPrint credits. In total, 178 students entered the contest!

The event is always a fantastic chance to engage with students and enhance their on-campus experience.

The Taking Care of Business team not only met but exceeded the $3,000 goal by an impressive 186%, raising a total of $5,570! This year’s Shuffle event managed to raise an outstanding $117,039. Great job everyone!

Furthermore, Business Services proudly served as a silver sponsor, providing complimentary parking at the P7 parking lot for all event attendees.

Our musical QR code was scanned 38 times!

Staff Spotlight

What was your first job?

I was in the Army Reserve as a weapon technician for two and a half years.

What is one thing you wish people knew about your job?

That much trial and error go into fixing most of the issues of the DPrint devices.

What still surprises you about your work?

People’s perception that printing with DPrint is some kind of wizardry. “How does it know it’s me”, coming from a student who just swiped their ID card at a device is just too funny.

What is your favourite holiday?

Thanksgiving is awesome because of the great food and the times with family and friends. I have great memories of Christmas too! With my Swiss roots, we would go all out with a huge Christmas tree, singing our hearts out until midnight, and placing candles on the tree. It’s all about the good times!

What motivates you?

I’m really task driven. I like resolving issues, answering tickets, and getting things done.

What is one thing on your bucket list?

When I retire, I would love to have a micro orchard. Growing vegetables and fruits his really a passion of mine. What couldn’t you live without? The internet for sure! I like the outdoors but I need facts and answers fast!

What’s your favourite food?

What’s most important to you?

My Grandmother Therese’s cooking is the ultimate comfort food. Family, no questions.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM

“On October 16, we welcome Daniel Zhao to the role of Business Analyst. Daniel, a Commerce Concordia graduate with a major in Accountancy, brings years of experience in accounting and budget analysis working for SNC Lavalin and the St. Lawrence Seaway Management.

We’re excited about the financial analyses, recommendations and new costs budget processes he will bring to the team”.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Staff is required to use the emergency exit situated through the kitchen, which leads directly to Bishop Street. The designated meeting location is on the opposite side of the street, right in front of Bishop Court. In the rare event that this meeting point is inaccessible, our alternative gathering spot will be at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, at the intersection of Bishop and Sherbrooke.

For questions, reach out to our Emergency Coordinator, Alex Rousseau, who is here to assist during evacuations.

Don’t forget to complete the “It takes all of us” mandatory Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention Training by the October 16 deadline.

LOYOLA PAYMENT OPTIONS

Since the introduction of Blinkay payment terminals and online options at Loyola back in May, QR codes on terminals and campus signage have proven to be quite effective.

• 3,391 users scanned for the online options payment page we created.

• 1,063 users downloaded the Blinkay App.

Did you know? Users can also access the payment page via the Concordia App, under Maps/Parking on the Loyola campus.

The cool new branded stickers on internal orders packaging are bound to catch our customer’s eye. It’s a speedy way to boost our brand, featuring a nifty QR code that links directly to our webpage.
