Shopping

malls, shopping malls, shopping malls. During our Marvelous Malls UOI, students learned that “shopping malls were designed and organized to serve the community and retailers.”

On Thursday, March 8th, 2012, grade 3 students got an opportunity to go on a field trip to IKEA. The purpose of this field trip was to observe and inquire into how this major shopping complex was organized and how it functioned. During the trip, students got a chance to not only walk through this magnificent facility, but also to purchase their own lunch in IKEA, and to observe how the food industry worked, how it was organized, and how it served the community and its retailers.

Close contact with IKEA management was very important in order to work out a schedule that worked for both Concordian and IKEA. They offered a “Smallish Citizen” membership application to

all of our students, which entitled them to a small discount (one day purchasing of food items at the food court).

We learned many wonderful things about how malls are organized and how they serve our communities. Overall, this was a fantastic trip, which everyone truly enjoyed!

G5 Camping in Chiang Mai

The Grade 5 students, along with their teachers and chaperones, had a tremendous time during their camp last May 14-18, 2012 at Traidhos, Chiang Mai. A mixture of excitement and apprehension were felt by most of the students since it was their first time to be away from their comfort zones. Nevertheless, everybody returned home with big smiles on their faces
