Statement of Service
Concordian International School is a service-oriented school that provides opportunities for all community members to engage and take action in response to individual and collective needs.

The Middle School Community Engagement (MSCE) program has entered its second year at Concordian. In addition to communities visited last year, we also expanded our community partners to include new locations, such as the Bang Pu Recreation Center and the Foundation for Slum Child Care, Khlong Toei branch.
Through these trips, middle school students have the opportunity to explore a variety of communities that are in close proximity to school, to discover these communities and the people who belong to them, and to explore what types of service activities could be of benefit to them. Beyond that, students are able to actively engage with these neighboring communities to develop empathy and a sense of social responsibility.
With this foundation established in middle school, students are able to carry on these experiences with them to serve as inspiration for the more independent, high-level service projects they will go on to lead in future years. In this way, the MSCE program lays the foundation for Secondary School Community Engagement at Concordian.

Grade 9 Independent Community Engagement Project is a year-long project where grade 9 students form groups, and then design and carry out community engagement projects based upon their personal interests, and their experiences from previous years, including their Middle School Community Engagement (MSCE) experiences.
Throughout the year, these groups are asked to find a community, reach out to them to find their specific needs, and then plan their projects. This process includes conducting research, planning activities, as well as engaging in direct service with their chosen communities. Students are expected to follow all of these steps independently, and this experience also aids in their selfsufficiency that they will require for their Personal Project the following year.
Grade 10 students engage in Service through their own initiative, whether it is through participation or leadership of a Service club or by developing their own independent Service / Community Engagement project.
This initiative is to ensure that Grade 10 students continue and maintain their direct Service participation from previous years in areas that suit their interests, while also preparing them for the CAS program in IBDP.
This year we welcomed the addition of multiple new Service clubs, including Wishing Well, SheCares, and Flourish Foundation.
CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service) is an IB Diploma graduation requirement for all students. Throughout the DP, all students are expected to complete a minimumof10MajorCASexperiences, and 2 minor CAS experiences across the three strands of Creativity, Activity, andService.
Students have the opportunity to join schoolsclubs,sportsteams,andbands, to fulfill CAS experience requirements, as well as undertake their own independent experiences outside of school,whichcanalsocomeunderthe threestrands.
The CAS programs begins on the first dayofGrade11.Studentsarerequired to complete their experiences, which include evidence and reflection, by graduation day. Non-DP students are required to complete the same programasagraduationrequirement.
