or t c e r i D p m a C , a n i r a C As a 6-year old camper in Backyard Explorers, my best memories are the field trips and fun activities like art and crawdad fishing. When I was old enough to be a C.I.T (Counselor in Training), I signed up, further cementing my desire to work with kids. I became a counselor in 2013 and I have returned every summer since! Working at camp positively impacts my life as I foster lifelong friendships, expand my knowledge working with kids and develop skills for other jobs. I enjoy being part of something that has positively impacted my life and the next generation.

City Offers $1 Million in Rent Relief for Small Businesses Beginning on April 26, the City of Concord, in partnership with the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, will accept applications for its new Measure V Commercial Rent Relief Program. In late March, the Concord City Council approved $1 million in funding to create a commercial rent relief program, which will provide one-time grants of $10,000 to local small businesses that have experienced considerable financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to these alerts, CWS also utilizes their Facebook and Twitter accounts to issue emergency warnings.

Citywide News Update In lieu of Concord's regular City News & Activity Guide, which was suspended last year due to COVID, the City recently published a Spring 2021 Community Update, which was mailed to all Concord residents and businesses in late March. The four-page update, which is also available in Spanish, shares news and information about City Council priorities, COVID vaccines, Measure V (which took effect on April 1, 2021), the City's general fund budget, capital improvements, and upcoming redistricting efforts.

Library to Reopen Rental Loans Offered Through City Program The City of Concord and Diablo Valley Federal Credit Union have partnered to provide a Rent Recovery Loan Program to help people who may have experienced difficulty paying their rent on time due to economic disruptions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is designed to help tenants and landlords eliminate or reduce back rent owed by providing a lowcost loan of up to $6,000 to tenants who owe back rent.

The Concord Library will be reopening its doors on April 26 for “Grab and Go” service! Grab and Go offers the community a chance to come inside the library to look at books and use the computers. Patrons will be asked to limit their time to 1 hour and to abide by all safety protocols. Please visit www.ccclib.org/libraries-reopen for complete details about available services, locations, and all of the safety protocols that Contra Costa County Library locations have in place.

To qualify for the loan, tenants must demonstrate an ability to repay the loan in monthly installments over five years, and to execute a loan agreement. The loan proceeds are made payable directly to the landlord to cover back rent. The landlords, in turn, agree not to evict the tenants due to back rent. If the borrowers default on the loan payments to the credit union, the credit union will assign the unpaid balance to the City for collection.
