Sanjukta Dutta Entrepreneur, Designer, Storyteller

Sanjukta Dutta, an Assamese designer par excellence, who hails from Nagaon near Guwahati, creates a unique combination of clubbing traditions and prints of different geographies into one unique customized piece of garment, Mekhela Chador with the Assamese silk in most cases being the base. Though early on, Sanjukta completed her Engineering studies in Assam and worked in the PWD with the Government of Assam, a chance encounter in 2012 gave wings to her idea.

clothing tells a story of not just the kind of person you are but also the mood you are in.

As an artist, Sanjukta loves playing with colors and designs, and this took her to various parts of the country. From being influenced by the Traditional motifs of the colorful tribes of Northeast she experimented, twisted and evolved textures with her own touch which were very much based in Assamese ethos but also blended with futuristic tastes. Sanjukta is of the singular belief that clothing, and attire is not just a piece of cloth but a key and integral part of every human being and their identity.

It is worth mentioning here that Sanjukta started her passion for designing the Mekhela Chador at a time when the Assam silk handloom industry was going through a difficult phase when the traditional market shows the onslaught of other silk sarees which drove many of the artisans out of the market. It was her missionary zeal and ardent love for the Mekhela Chador which stood the test of time. Her decision to bring all the displaced artisans under her fold was a bold and a decisive venture.

It is her central belief that one’s

Sanjukta's passion has seen her design empire grow to necessitate the setup of 13 factories, starting with Maa Durga Axomiya Pat and Muga Kapuror Boyon Protisthon – in Guwahati itself, which has now translated to over 100 looms where she produces her characteristic silk ‘Mekhela Chadors’, with different varieties of colored silk threads, especially Muga & Pat.

Today, Sanjukta’s Studio supports over a hundred families of artisans, covering all aspects like education, medical needs, and lodging, apart from salaries. It was with the promise of supporting their families that Sanjukta motivated the artisans to be a part of her endeavor. She has also added a new dimension to her creativity by working on designing of traditional Assamese jewelry as well. These captivating pieces of jewelry, like her clothing lines, are also custom‐made, handcrafted and designed in different shapes and sizes of some of the most popular Assamese traditional jewelry – Dug Dugi, Keru Moni, Junbiri, etc. Thus, bringing together Traditional Assamese Jewelry designs with more contemporary and chic styling. She is also working towards reviving the traditional Muga silk based Mekhala Chador, which is a dying design form. Every single Mekhla Chador designed by her is unique, customized, handcrafted and goes through a rigorous 45-day production cycle before it can effectively tell the story that the beautiful woman draping it wants it to.

Her fixation on customizing her creations for her clients, coupled with her passion for storytelling through clothing has led Sanjukta to global fame, and her creations were presented to the Royal family during their visit in 2016. Her stylish, fashionable, and exquisite range of completely customized Assamese `Mekhla Chador’enchanted the audience at Mysore Fashion Week 2015 and left the audience spellbound at The Indian Beach Fashion Week 2016. Currently, her clientele is spread across the globe, especially silk lovers from U.S., U.K., Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Australia.

Her hard work and determined focus have brought her many laurels. She has been honored with the Women Achiever of the Year Award by SBI and BSNL. Sanjukta’s Studio, which houses all her collections, was chosen the Best Designer Store by the 92.7 Big FM team.

Her dreams of making Assam silk a global brand on the lines of Assam Tea received a major boost when she received the prestigious “Stardust Global Indian Icon Achievers Awards” in the Designer category, which was awarded to her in an event on 13th July 2017 at the Plaza, New York. Recently she was declared among 10 most inspiring women of India by “Grihosobha,” the lifestyle magazine. In 2018, Sanjukta was felicitated with the award of “Fashion Designer of the Year” for keeping handloom alive by Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award. The latest feather on her cap was the chosen one from North-east India to create the logo of Yashraj’s 2018 release SUI DHAGA, starring Varun Dhawan & Anushka Sharma. 2019 recorded yet another accomplishment of Sanjukta Dutta’s creative prowess, with her label debuting at the 72nd edition of Cannes Film Festival with glamorous Ingrinda, "Top Model United Kingdom Winner" & "Miss Film Festival International" striding the red carpet in a luxe Assamese silk handcrafted gown. She was the first Assamese woman designer to showcase her collection at

the Lakme Fashion Week 2016, 2017 and 2018 in Mumbai with Bollywood beauties like Hema Malini, Esha Deol, Dia Mirza, Preity Zinta, and Bipasha Basu gracing the stage as the showstopper for her label. The Lotus Makeup Indian Fashion Week has also witnessed Sanjukta Dutta magic with the gorgeous Tabu and Karishma Kapoor walking the ramp as her showstopper.

"Grandmother taught me to sew & knit"

NAD DUARTE, Fashion Designer, was born June 4, 1986, in Estoril. As a child, she loved to draw with her paternal grandmother and her parents. Also, her maternal grandmother taught her to sew and knit, where she led on a doll. She often recovered shirts her father that she was cutting and recreated to put its size, its style. Later, she didn't choose to follow her studies in art and fashion, despite the advice of his family, thinking the area too utopian and leaving as a great passion. Will get her BA and BTS in accounting and management and sign a permanent contract as an accountant in a company. Thinking only of her passion, continuing to draw fashion sketches and create it when it clicked successfully participate in the Fashion Show of Sonia Rykiel during Fashion Week in 2011. Only one idea in mind, she wants to make her passion her profession. It will then follow two courses at the School of La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. We are models of images and figurations during cinematographic since 5 months in the association SB Fashion 13, and we have for a coach Sabine Evrard who we learned to pose and to scroll. We regularly go to Italy, and we have often dreamed of being in the place of these models in shopping centers in Milan. Since our inscription at the association, we have participated in many events, such as fashion shows or other clothing brands. We take a lot of pictures, and we are silhouettes in the movies.

Model Nitin Mehta By Saif Rahman Sozib

I get inspired by myself: Bespoke Nitin Mehta By Saif Rahman Sozib 1. Please say something about your initial years your education, family background, career.

Ans. My education has been all over India as my Father was in the Army. But last four years of schooling was in DPS Ghaziabad where my grandparents used to stay. After my school, I went to National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune and the Indian Military Academy Dehradun, and was commissioned in Indian Army in June 1995. I am a B. Tech ( Mechanical ) and then specialized in the maintenance of Helicopters. I have served in the Army for 21 years and took premature retirement in May 2016. 2. You have an army background, how did modeling turn up.

Ans. Well, in the Army, I was a very straight forward officer. I never ever thought that I will ever get into this field of modeling and acting. After my retirement in May 2016, I thought of growing my beard as I was always a clean-shaven guy. I was approached by somebody at the airport with a small role in his movie with my current look in beard, the project eventually did not happen,

but it just opened my mind to explore this field which I had no clue about. Then I got my portfolio done, and things started rolling. 3. At middle age, how was it breaking the ice into modeling a stream which was totally different and generally has teenage entrants?

Ans. At this age, yes, it is difficult to break the ice, moreover my Army lifestyle also, but I took the plunge to seek what I have got in me. I was totally new to this field and did not know how to go about, how much is the remuneration, how do I get more work? But I just kept crawling every single day and learned about this field. It's been tough, but I have enjoyed every single day

4. Who are your role models who inspire you in life?

Ans. I don’t look for some role model to get inspired. My parents have given me great values and have taught me to keep moving. I get inspired by myself by seeing how far I have come every single day. 5. For people in your age bracket making six packs and following a fit regime is difficult, what's your views and tips for people who aspire to become like you.

Ans .yes, getting six packs at my age, is difficult but not impossible. It is all in the mind. Whatever is your goal, you have to be honest about it, dedicated, hardworking, perseverance, and disciplined. There is nothing which you can't achieve, the biggest barrier is YOU only. 6. What's your daily routine and the diet plan you follow.

Ans. My day starts with my exercises. I work out 5-6 days a week with cardio, strengthening, HIIT, and some weight training. I follow a diet plan to keep healthy. I don’t skip meals and always keep myself hydrated. Well, I also groom aspirant models, so when I am not on any shoot, I conduct classes for them. 7. Where does the Indian fashion industry and on a global scale according to you and what's your advice to improve its ranking?

Ans. Indian Fashion Industry is on a very high platform globally, but we have to scale a huge difference. We have loads of talent in our country, but they do not get proper guidance to progress and move ahead. We need to help others grow, which will eventually help all of us to be at a different level globally. I have seen so many people like this during my interactions, who have talent but are not able to move ahead just because they are not aware of how things work. This prompted me to start my Grooming classes for young talent. Every Individual is different, so I don’t compare myself with anyone. I am very clear of myself that I need to achieve the goals which I have set for myself. 8. Your valuable, inspirational message for visitors to our portal.

Ans. Nothing is impossible in this world, the only limitation is YOU. Age is just a number, so do what you love at whatever stage of life you are because the day you stop challenging yourself, you are DEAD. Cornelia Steckhan By Saif Rahman Sozib

Cornelia Steckhan is one of the most important and expensive contemporary artists. She has had countless exhibitions worldwide. She created and applied New Painting trend of Cosalien (Cos=Cosmos+alien=Cosalien) (Patentprotect exist) The term futurism comes from the Latin futurum (future). The artist breaks with everything she sees as obsolete and traditional. She tries to set a new art trend. According to the futuristic artist, "art" is supposed to correspond to actual life rather than to reflect the past. Imitation of the past, whether as a theme or a motif, should be avoided, since it does not correspond to the originality and the time appropriately.

Futurism frowned upon the old beauty ideals and sought "its" beauty ideals in speed and dynamics, cosmos, alien, futurology, science. On the other hand, if we look at their new images, we see a completely different cosmos; It is a cosmos in unfolding, in constant change, an open cosmos of infinite diversity. The strict aura of the planets has given way to a playful flowing abundance and an almost sunny color range. In place of the strict geometry, a new freedom of forms and colors has taken place. There are no limits; Everything is in flux, intermingling, penetrating itself. Creative chaos has dissolved the order of the planets to give birth to something new. Featured Int. EmulEos by Emily Prozinski: BrainStorm By Saif Rahman Sozib The mind is a powerful place, an organic engine, processing and grinding the infinite amount of ideas and feelings. In 2014, I saw the cover of the latest National Geographic Issue. It had a feature on the system called “Brain mapping.” It showed a graphic of a brain lit up in neon, scribbles of colorful lines intersecting and flailing in every direction. I was intrigued. Immediately, I thought, ‘How do I integrate this into fashion?’ Brainstorm takes a fresh look at how the brain works. Brain mapping, or in essence, mind reading, is when scientists use chemicals to reveal an interlocking web that shows how neurons interact with each other, how memories are formed. Brain mapping is a breakthrough that reveals the secrets of the mind. After certain chemicals are used, the MRIs show a spectrum of luminescent colors, with each color showing how one part of the brain interacts with the other. Brain activity can also be measured by the intensity of the color. Memories physically imprint themselves into the brain. Different colors represent different types of information being transferred. For example, pink and orange are responsible for transmitting language signals.

The ultra-saturated colors shown in the brain mapping make up the color story for the trims and details found in the collection. The actual natural appearance of the brain, a brief range of steel grays and lavenders, make up the remaining structures of the garments. The texture of the trims and details are also taken from the MRI photos, the fibers of the brain appearing like a network of fringe. The wrinkly exterior of the brain is also used in surface design on select fabric choices. Another surface detail is the radial web of neurons spurring from the center of the brain. The nerve endings are shown in the beading details. Emulating the movement in each erratic Brain scan is critical. Garments made in this collection, have fabrics that were selected for how well they can move! When I design a collection, I always challenge myself to select a concept that does not easily or frequently come in contact with fashion, something with substance that interests me in itself. I like to experiment and dive into a whole new field of study.

Emily Prozinski BrainStorm I am intrigued by the mystery of something I do not know, and the process of translating it into garments. In doing so, I enjoy teaching interesting concepts through my designs, compelling the viewer to ‘think,’ and to ‘inspire’ them.

Scalzi & Pareati is a way of being, of feeling, of living and represents the desire for summer, the desire to walk on a beach by the sea freely and simply “barefoot “and with a “pareo.”

Paola & Max turned this mood into a real lifestyle that anyone would follow and so decide, in 2014, on the 28th of June, the day of their wedding in Sardinia, to give life to a real fashion brand completely MADE IN ITALY that reflects as much as possible these features.

Sardinia, in particular, the Costa Smeralda, is the land to which Paola & Max have always been linked, and it is their continuous source of inspiration just for its colors, perfumes, wild beaches and the desire for summer that it transmits.

Monica Walsh “Story of a commercial model & Fashion blogger" by Saif My name is Monica Walsh. I'm a commercial model and fashion blogger. I'm a former beauty queen. I represented Ireland in China in Mrs. World beauty pageant in 2012. I love traveling, and I'm just back from the Cannes Film Festival. I'm using my platform to raise awareness about domestic violence. After a few interviews, I got more and more emails and so many stories I decided it's time to share it with society. Our society now it's very busy, no one cares about another person, and we need to open our eyes and see these people (your friends or neighbor) that they may need your help. So hopefully this book can help some women to make the right decision and open the eyes to the readers that it's a global problem and it's 2019 we should feel comfortable and not scared in our houses. I decided to write a book and hope it helps to raise awareness about domestic violence. It's imperative because we can save our lives. If there are kids involved, they will remember all life. wants to have a perfect family. No one wants to say they have an abusive husband. They believe he will change, and life will be happy and good again, and they live with this hope for years. Of course, there is a fear of. I work as a teacher in the creche. My goal as a teacher is to help the teachers to have some time and have a speech to boys and girls to have respect to others and to themselves. My other passion is fashion. I got to the final of Top Model UK in 2014. I had many photoshoots around the world. I think everything happens for a reason as thanks to my fashion hobby I took part in beauty pageant, and everything came back to me when one of the topics of charity work for beauty pageant was Domestic Violence and From that time that become part of my life and I decided to join my two passions in one in London Fashion Week this September.

The launch of my book Take me out of the hell is going to be in September during the London Fashion Week.

Miss Europe World Luissa Burton Episode 4 – 7 Charity Climb By Saif Rahman Sozib

Miss Europe World episode 4 charity climb: “Plan and take action.â€? By Saif Rahman Sozib At the beginning of last year, I woke up one day and decided, “I’m going to climb a mountain.â€? I didn’t really know why or what for. Miss Europe World wasn’t even something I had thought about at this point. Sometimes I scare myself (and my mum) because I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to wake up wanting to do next. Later in the year, I had the opportunity to represent the UK at the Miss Europe World competition in Beirut. Then it dawned on me, I’m going to win this competition, and I’m going to take the Miss Europe World sash to the summit of Europe’s highest mountain to raise money for people with skin conditions. To be honest, I had absolutely NO idea how I was going to win, but after 10 years competing, this crown was mine đ&#x;˜š. Today’s theme is all about the power of deciding and manifesting. I had decided Miss Europe World was my title. This was the one I was going to win. I believed it with all of my heart and never allowed another

thought to enter my head. Before I entered competitions because I enjoyed traveling, meeting new people from all over the world and the thrill of being on stage. However, this time was different. Entering this competition was driven by purpose and my desire to serve others by raising awareness for skin conditions and the British Skin Foundation. I have represented the UK internationally 5 times before at other competitions. However, I never quite believed it could be me. I wanted to win, sorta thought maybe could a might possibly win. But, never truly felt I could. There was always doubt in my mind. As a result, this reflected in my performance. I remember admiring another girl at one competition and how people had said she presented herself throughout the competition as though she had already won. She won. It’s not that she said anything; it was just her poise, her grace, and her confidence. She believed, and it showed.

The power of visualization is real. Believing “it already is is a powerful manifesto. By doing this, you raise your frequency to align with that outcome. Believing “it already is is the law of attraction. You attract what you think about. Another reason for “believing it already is so means you automatically step into that role as though you are. You act like the winner, you walk like the winner, you speak to people like the winner. Consequently, people then see you as the winner. If you don’t quite believe it, you act like a runner up, and if you don’t believe it at all, this unwittingly manifests in your actions and then manifest poor results. Once I had done the pageant, I then applied this “believe it already is so philosophy to the mountain climb. I had no idea how I was going to do it, how I could afford such an expedition or how I would get to the top of

“one of the world’s deadliest mountains.â€? Next thing I know, by keeping this belief in my mind, the universe attracted Aaron, Wanderlost Productions, to me who is an incredible adventure videographer and drone pilot. Then incredibly Holonis offered to sponsor the climb for Aaron and me! We found an amazing expedition leader who could take us up the mountain and things just kept falling into place. The takeaway: set a goal, decide it’s happening and believe “it is already soâ€? and don’t deviate from that path until it manifests. In my case, it landed me on a mountain top đ&#x;˜š To donate to the charity, climb for the British Skin Foundation, go here: http://www.justgiving.com/Luis sa-Burton2?utm_id=124 To see the video episode, go to mine and Aaron's Holospace:

Miss Europe World Episode 5: “Fail to prepare, prepare to fail” don’t miss this one!

By Saif Rahman Sozib

When it comes to achieving your goals, there are few things as important as practice, practice, practice. This is a lesson we learned all too well when preparing to climb Europe's highest mountain, mt. Elbrus. Training may not always be the most glorious or photo worthy aspect of this adventure, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!

to stand atop Europe to raise money for the British Skin Foundation. A link to our donations page can be found below as well as another for the video teasers. Thank you for all the support we have been shown so far, and make sure to stay posted for our future Elbrus-Sky documentary release. There is still much more content to come!

It is important to enjoy the process because if we fail to prepare, we prepare to fail. We must look towards our goals while staying firmly planted in the now. For this reason, we decided to put together a teaser centered around what gear we would be using to combat the 40c temperature and 100 km/h wind. As you can see, we may have gotten a bit carried away on this episode.

Miss Europe World Episode 6! “Triumph over trauma.” By Saif Rahman Sozib

This episode really touches me! I had the pleasure of meeting some lovely girls in Moscow who suffered from severe burns after their houses burnt down in tragic accidents. One of the girls is a model, and the other is studying. I drew such inspiration from these beautiful ladies and their positive outlook on life. One of my mentors Harry Singha said: “turn your worst days into best days.” I have carried this motto with me ever since. Climbing Mount Elbrus was symbolic for me. The mountain represented the negative opinions of others, the comments, the bullies, etc... and reaching the summit with the Miss Europe World sash was to show that despite any limitation you can overcome anything. Hence today’s theme “triumph over trauma.” I never believed I could win an international beauty competition, especially with full body skin

conditions, let alone have a successful career as a model.

Holding the sash at the summit was so I could give others hope and aim to inspire them that whatever their limitation (mine being my skin condition) to never give up on their dreams. M i s s E u r o p e Wo r l d C h a r i t y C l i m b E p i s o d e 7 “ E m b r a c i n g Yo u r A u t h e n t i c S e l f . ” By Saif Rahman Sozib Today’s episode when I started out modeling I could never have filmed. Sitting in front of a camera with eczema on my face and posting it across all my social media channels for a documentary would have been my worst nightmare. It wasn’t until I went to a pageant in Albania in 2012 where a full body break out of psoriasis had occurred on my skin last minute where my attitudes changed. I used to hide and cover up at every opportunity. If it were sunny, I would wear jumpers despite being far too hot and it irritating my skin. In Albania, at the Miss Globe modeling competition, I had no choice but to represent the UK with the condition. After we did the final show where to my amazement, I had placed 6th out of 100 countries, a judge came up to me and said the judges were impressed with my confidence. I hadn’t felt confident at all. However, she said it took a lot of courage for me to go on stage in a bikini with the condition being watched by several million people live on TV. This was a pivotal moment in my career. I realized if I embraced my condition and overcame my own fears, I could help other people who were struggling too by using my platforms and visibility. From here, I made it my

mission to continue competing in competitions, sharing my story and my modeling career. The result was after 10 years, I became the first woman from the UK to win Miss Europe World, something I could never have imagined. See below the video for my photo competing in Albania with psoriasis. One of my beauty queen friends who were always someone I looked up to as a source of strength and inspiration, Amy Willerton (former Miss Universe GB) said once to me “my advice is to always compete as yourself.” Don’t be afraid to be your authentic self and to let that light shine. By doing so, you give permission to others to do the same.

Meeta Dutta Confessed, " H u m a n Tr a f f i c k i n g I s A n O r g a n i ze d C r i m e " By Saif Rahman Sozib

Meeta Choudhury Dutta, a lawyer by profession, a social activist, owner at Styling Divas - a make-up and styling platform, also associated with many NGOs like Feeding India, Shakti Vahini etc. and a co-founder at Together for Change - an NGO working in the education and health sector for the welfare of the poor and the needy. She is a well-known face from the Northeastern part of India. She has done it again to be back in the news for speaking on women's protection. Meeta, also enlightening the participants on ways to curb human trafficking at a recently held beauty pageant Mrs. & Miss Globe India at ITA, Machkowa, Guwahati, Assam as their Motivational Speaker and Guest of Honors. She stated that to ensure the conviction of the criminals in this heinous crime and to prevent trafficking as responsible citizens:

1. We all should be alert at all entry/exit points of railway stations and bus stops. 2. We should intervene when children and young women are found with suspicious persons. 3. Community vigilance should be strengthened by prompt action. 4. We should immediately act on missing person's report - they may be subjected to trafficking. 5. A rescue of a victim should never be delayed. 6. Trafficking is organized crime - the network should be dismantled by taking the help of the media as and when we become suspicious of the happening of such an incident. In addition to this, we should make our home slavery-free. To ensure this, we must:-

Meeta Dutta

1. Make sure that our domestic worker is above the age of eighteen years. 2. The monthly wages should be paid through a bank account to ensure that he/she gets the amount of money that the government should prescribe. 3. A police verification must be done, and we must also check his/her valid documents issued by the government. 4. We should pay domestic workers decently in accordance with the Minimum Wages Act so that they are not lured into anything unscrupulous which leads to their becoming a victim of human trafficking. She also said, "Human trafficking is organized crime, we all need to unite to fight against it. One can register a missing child complain by calling on Childline 1098 or in writing through the government website www.khoyapaya.gov.in. You may also request the police to upload details on another website called www.trackmissingchild.gov.in which there is a national tracking system for missing and vulnerable children.

Apart from this, she also said that the number of rapes is proliferating and the best way to combat is by practicing the motto that prevention is better than cure. So the women should become self-sufficient and not depend upon anyone else to protect themselves by learning taekwondo and other means of self-defense. In addition to this, the parents should teach their children about good touch and bad touch, once the child becomes a year old. Simple habits should be inculcated in them, like changing the clothes when alone, and not in front of anyone else, and so on. They should not be allowed to sit on someone's lap, even if the person is a relative. And the parents should also try to understand any change in the child's behavior. If the child gets irritated or fearful of a particular person; cries after seeing him or her; or starts getting a lot of gifts, the parents should be vigilant and must find out the reasons behind it.

Meeta Dutta

These days it is difficult to place trust in anyone in society. Maybe somebody is trying to lure the child with some gifts to take sexual advantage. You never know that, but what you do know is that you should be careful.

She further added that we all are equally responsible for making or marring society. It should start from every home. Both the parents should teach their sons not to tease, pass comments at or be disrespectful towards women, instead of only binding girls within their indoor/outdoor

timelines and on the length of their dresses. She further enlightened them about women's right to even untimely registration of FIR, right to virtual complaints, right to zero FIR against serious crimes like rape, sexual harassment etc., right to no arrest even if a woman constable is accompanying the officers at night without written permission from the magistrate explaining why the arrest is necessary during the night, and the right to not being called to the police station so on and so forth.

Super model Rashmi Buntwal & R e c e n t P r o f e s s i o n a l Wo r k s By Saif Rahman Sozib 1) Recent work

This past month has been very interesting professionally. Being a model, I love that I get to enact versatile looks and characters. This particular season I managed a smooth transition from fashion to commercial modeling. All these years, I have been mainly into beauty and fashion sectors. But this month I had the opportunity to be a commercial face as well :) 2) The brands

The month kind of started off with a shoot for SpiceJet airlines. They r launching their business class services, and I got to play a sharp business tycoon :D I personally love wearing formals. While traveling, I’m mostly dressed in formal wear, so it was an easy shoot. The best part was shooting right inside one of the busiest airports in the world- the capital DELHI! The following week I took up a very interesting project. It’s a commercial for a brand “Royal Weddings “ based in Kerala. It was an absolutely new experience which I thoroughly

enjoyed. I love Indian ethnic wear, and here I had to wear a saree and sing and dance for 18 hours straight!!! An outdoor shoot in the peak of summer! Though it drained me out totally to the point of falling sick by the end of it, it was fun nevertheless, and all the blood n sweat was worth the final outcome. A project for Bangalore based Purvankara builders and another one in Chennai rounded off the month of May. The month of June will have me attending a worldwide modeling convention in London as one of the brand ambassadors of the event. It’s an absolute privilege and an honor that’s been bestowed upon on me as a result of all these years of hard work. I’m also taking up a couple of high fashion shoots in London this month. This kind of mix of work deeply satisfies me as a professional. I’m glad I get to be so versatile n fit into different markets. I have previously also worked as an ethnic model in Istanbul, Athens, Romania, etc

3) Recent developments

4)Work after the injury

So this past year, though not many are aware of, as I hardly speak about it, wasn’t all hunky dory! In 2018, the year that followed my crowning as Miss Tourism International 2017, was supposed to be the peak of my career. I had a slew of fabulous assignments lined up in India along with many inaugural opportunities abroad as the newly crowned “beauty queen.“ A plump contract with one of the leading modeling agencies in Cape Town was all part of my career plan for the year but alas!

The injury put an abrupt halt to all my plans. I couldn’t even zip my own clothes or brush my hair for the first few months. I was in a sling and on excruciatingly painful physiotherapy sessions thrice a day every day for the first 9 months. Since I couldn’t train at all, I decided to at least follow an extremely strict diet to maintain myself. It took a toll on me mentally, emotionally n physically n on my family as well. But I was determined to get back on my feet and worked really hard towards recovery.

One unfortunate evening of July 2018 while I was training as usual at my fitness boxing class, I was violently attacked by a fellow member of “Cult fitness” under the pretext of boxing which resulted in me completely dislocating my right shoulder. The injury left me with a permanently broken cartilage bone, dent in my shoulder bone as well as acute internal bleeding and torn muscles. Such was the intensity that I lost my range of motion n strength completely n I felt handicapped for the longest time!

I'm now taking baby steps towards getting back to work. I still do my physiotherapy sessions every day and take painkillers with me during my shoots. My arm still hurts when I try to move it in certain directions. Since the injury is internal, it doesn’t show up on the camera, thankfully!!! I hope to make up for the precious time lost and come back stronger than ever! :) The industry, however, has been very welcoming of me and as lovely as ever...

I used to volunteer for PETA. This past year I couldn’t do much for animals as I was too caught up with my own health issues. But very soon I intend to join hands with other like-minded people and to start with maybe on a small scale, open a shelter or at least try to provide some basic facilities like food, water someplace to rest, to as many strays as possible. I encourage people to place water bowls outside your houses, maybe few breadcrumbs on our terrace or balconies for the birds to feed on , some simple biscuits or rice for our doggie n cat friends, Some greens for the stray cows who feed on plastic garbage on the streets, small things which cost u nothing but could save a life from trauma n hunger would go a long way! I truly and deeply pray, and hope people develop compassion n kindness towards all beings, humans, or animals, n stop treating them like objects! Photos: Rashmi Buntwal's archives.

In the face of every bleak medical case history and dire scientiďŹ c prediction, Joyce's unwavering belief inspires her community to pray for John's recovery. Based on the incredible true story, BREAKTHROUGH is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.

"There are never ending styles and approaches in the art of portrait painting. To me the defining element in portraits is how the hair is approached and rendered. The hair sets the portrait's tone and is the prime indicator on how the artist wants the portrait to be seen and understood. Regarding these three portraits, there is the queenly faced portrait with water waves in her hair, there is red head with sculptured red hair and finally the girl with long sculptured blue tresses. These examples clearly show how the portrait is defined by the hair. Ed Morales"

Stella Maris Haefele By Saif Rahman Sozib

When did you first discover that you wanted to be a fashion designer?

I remember being 10 years old when I first said to my mother that I wanted to be a fashion designer. I designed clothes for my toys; I spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to sew a dress or pants. I loved painting, draw, colours, fabrics, etc. I had started to buy fashion magazines at a very young age. While I was in high school, I used to go to a Japanese Art Institute called Shunichi Oshima, en Bialet Masse – Cordoba, Argentina, where it all started.

After working in London, England for 10 years as a Learning Support Assistant for Harrow College. I married and went to live in Germany; then I learned Fashion Design in ESMOD Munich, Germany, and CSM, University in London. In 2015 I did my first solo fashion show in the Victory Lounge in Kathmandu Nepal, and from there, I did not stop.

How would you describe your designs?

I take inspiration from traditional South American garments, which are built up out of bold colour and sexy and whit a powerful ‘DNA’ of Nepali culture, my label Haefele.fashion have a distinctly elegant style.

What are your favorite materials to work with?

I like to work with sustainable fabrics derived from eco-friendly resources, such as grown fibre crops or recycled materials. "It can be costly, as fashion designers, we need to be conscious of the environment.

How important is the colour to tour the design process?

The importance of colo ur in my designs is fundamental. Colour send messages, change the state of mind, create ideas, and interest.

5. How did your knowledge of colour theory change the way you think about design?

should match my behaviour, invest in relationships and to enjoy life more and obsess less.

Nevertheless, I think every design need to have a basic understanding of the colour theory in order to choose the right colour combination. In my case, I decided my colour palettes to attract the attention and emotion of people.

7. What is the most significant risk you ever took as a Fashion Designer?

6. Who, or what is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspirations are my mentor John Newall; He had an unparalleled ability to motivated me when I am dawn and gracefully bring me up. He has been a great help in my career and my business telling me no matter what is going on never give up. My other inspiration is my husband (AH), in 9 years, he taught me to be the best I can be, work hard for my dreams, be aware of how my intent

I always embraced the positive potential of risk-taking. I am a major risks taken, such I risked everything when I went to London, and it when pretty good, I risked everything to come to Germany and it when to amazing and I risk everything to become in 2015 a fashion designer, and I make lovely client, meet brilliant people, created a company called Haefele.fashion along with my BIO beauty product crafted by Bounty Himalaya in Nepal.

So I think I am doing good. Life is a risk‌.

8.what are you working on now?

At the moment I am working in my bridal collection House of Haefele by Stella Maris Haefele, that will be showcased at Agadir Morocco Fashion Show, on the 20th July 2019. It has a lot of hard work, biding and French, this collection is so dearest to me as it is my first bridal collection.

9. Do you have any new designs you can hint at?

I usually prefer bold colour's; its tendency to set a positive mud in my clients. And likely in my South American culture and Nepal culture both like very bright colours. Life without colours will be very dull‌ Also, I am working on new projects such as giving embroidering courses in my atelier; it will bring back the art that is all most lost as the machine take the work. And a new and exited project that will be realized soon‌..
