Danielle Nicole Enright is the Owner, Founder and Lead Designer of the female empowerment brand, ABRAU, established in 2011. Her jewelry has been worn by celebrities and on several popular TV shows. She is also a soon-to-be published author, business consultant, social media creator and interior designer. She resides in Vermont with her military husband, Daniel Enright, and her three children Nicolas, Mason, and Olivia. You are truly a Renaissance woman. You are a successful Jewelry Designer, Business Consultant, Blogger and Author. Share your background. My path has been anything but linear. Early on in life I wanted to become a news broadcaster, an actress, an author, or a lawyer. I always had big dreams. My path changed when I was harassed by a teacher in high school. I told the school administration, and no one helped me, and I almost failed out of high school. After that, the trajectory of my life changed dramatically. Despite this, one thing remained constant, my resilience and my passion. I ended up raising my grades in Community College, I applied and got into the legal studies program at Champlain College, scoring a 3.8 GPA and I landed my first paralegal position at a law firm. After working at several prominent law firms in Vermont, I landed my most prestigious position at the U.S.

Attorney’s Office / Department of Justice. I was fulfilling my lifelong dream of working in the legal field, I had dreams of going to law school and I truly loved my job. I had it all. That dream ended in 2008, when I lost my career, and I was left with absolutely nothing. I entered into art therapy, I started painting and to make ends’ meet, I started selling off all of my clothing on eBay. One day, I stumbled upon a YouTube tutorial on how to make a bracelet and I fell in love with making jewelry. I listed one of my handmade wrap bracelets on eBay and it sold within minutes. ABRAU was born that day. From the lowest part of my life, I found my true purpose, helping others through the sales of my jewelry. Through my jewelry company, ABRAU, I’ve been able to donate a percentage of my sales to local, national, and international nonprofits and I have become a mentor to other women who need help getting back on their feet. My jewelry has since been worn on several popular TV shows, most recently appearing on Sweet Magnolias. Through my appearances on the news, podcasts, publications, and by creating reels on Instagram the word about my story and my business has spread, inspiring women all over the world. I have been able to grow my Instagram and Facebook platforms and reach more people

who often just need a person to believe in them. I often spend time mentoring women who want to learn how to start online businesses, by offering them free help and guidance in all areas of business. From this, I’ve been blessed with being able to collaborate and consult with multi-million-dollar businesses. I have a creative mind, and, like most creatives, I feel most fulfilled when I’m able to create freely, whether that be making reels, renovating my home, writing, making jewelry or DIYs with my kids. I’ve somehow managed to build an entirely new life and career doing what I love every single day. In addition, I am able to fulfill what I believe is my purpose, which is to spread hope and positivity to others. "Life can get hard sometimes and it's those little messages, those little miracles that happen every single day that can empower you and change your life. My hope is that Abrau can be that message." Explain.

I started my jewelry business as a way to get back on my feet and to provide for my family. What I found was that by creating I was better able to cope with my past. One of my first designs was a sterling silver feather that symbolized “letting go or living life lightly.” Whenever I needed those affirmations, I’d wear my feather bracelet and it helped me through my day.

My customers reached out to me and told me that my messages of hope and positivity were also helping them, so I continued creating symbolic pieces to give my customers a physical tool to help them through their struggles.

Tell us about some of the celebrities you have worked with and the pieces they adore. I’ve worked with several wardrobe stylists, and I have sent jewelry to many A-list celebrities like Jennifer Garner, Kelly Clarkson, and Drew Barrymore. Since 2008, my jewelry has been worn on popular TV shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Voice, Seal Team, Law, and Order SVU, Law and Order Organized Crime, The Young and the Restless, Home Economics and most recently, Sweet Magnolias. Mother’s Day is around the corner. Please share a few favorites that would be perfect for Mom. I have some beautiful ready-towear fine jewelry pieces that are perfect for Mom, from personalized “Mom” necklaces and bracelets to heart jewelry and even family gemstone rings. For my clients who want something one-of-a-kind, they can send a message to me or one of my associates through my website

www.abraujewelry.com and we can create a piece that their mom will love. I’m currently sold out of my most popular handmade pieces, but I do still offer all of my best-selling “As Seen on TV” pieces. I have a few celebrity clients who will remain anonymous, as I believe protecting their privacy is one of the reasons that they continue to shop with me. I also have a few new TV shows that I’ve submitted my designs to, so fingers crossed that 2024 brings more ABRAU to the small screen! Tell us about your work as a Business Consultant and what we can find on your New Blog: Wire & Rose, Home Interior & DIY blog. During the pandemic, my husband (Dan Enright - Owner of Premier Power Washing Vermont) and I started to renovate our 1980s Vermont Colonial. I started documenting the before and after on my Instagram (@abraujewelry) and I had such a great response! I would receive daily questions about where I sourced my pendant lights, rugs, or even the clothing that I wore in my reels. After much persuasion by my followers, I started my new blog, ‘Wire and Rose,’ which is connected to my LTK Store (Danielle Enright) where my followers and fans can shop everything in my home, including my fashion. I’ve found a love for creating reels and I have collaborated with big companies like Afloral, Libman, Vici and Versed, to name a few.

How have you grown as a successful businesswoman? Any tips for young women who want to launch a business? I’ve become successful by following these 3 rules that I committed to early on: 1. Know your “why” or your purpose and keep that in the forefront of your mind every single day; 2. Stay consistent; 3. Surround yourself with only those who will lift you higher. Entrepreneurship is as much about building yourself up, mind, body, and soul as much as it is about building a brand or selling a product. While you’re in your early stages of business, you’re going to encounter so many lessons that if you can get through those, you will become unstoppable. My biggest hurdle early on was putting myself out there on social media because I was afraid of what people would think and I surrounded myself with a lot of people who either didn’t believe in my dream or who weren’t aligned with my purpose and who tried to hold me back. I’ve had to make tough decisions and learn to limit interactions with these people. But I’ve become so much stronger, and I feel like I’m truly my best version right now. I never stop learning and growing because my purpose is so much bigger than any obstacle that I face, and I have the passion and fire in my soul for everything that I do.

Mentorship is very important to you. How are you empowering women through helping their creative businesses on your platforms? My “why” has always been bigger than just making jewelry. My purpose and mission in life since 2008 has always been to help others. By creating reels, I have been able to reach and impact a larger audience and ultimately create a larger platform to share my story of hope, resilience, and perseverance. By mentoring women and helping them grow their own accounts, they can learn new ways of either supplementing or diversifying their incomes and maybe even become a full-time creator. What I learned during the pandemic is that influencers and social media creators are now making more than lawyers and doctors and it’s only growing. I have the roadmap because I’ve walked the path myself. I’ve been able to grow my own account and I’m now creating offshoot businesses, becoming a business consultant,

a brand ambassador, and a creator. Understanding the algorithm and knowing how to make impactful reels is the first step to a successful creator business and I show my mentors and subscribers on Instagram (@abraujewelry) exactly how I’ve done it. Tell us about your new children’s book. As I stated earlier, one of my lifelong goals was to become an author. My late Godfather, John J. Conder, was a Professor at Vanderbilt and a published author, and I always looked up to him. I often place one of his books in my reels, as just like my jewelry, my reels are also filled with symbolism. Like Taylor Swift does with her songs, I place symbolic “Easter Eggs' in everything that I create. My children’s book is the same. It is a symbolic account of how I found self-love through hardships. I wrote and dedicated it to my children so they will have the roadmap of how I navigated

life and adversity. While I’ve been writing my memoir for the past year, I wrote this children’s book in one hour during a family emergency and after I read it to my son, Mason, he encouraged me to send it into a publisher. Unbeknownst to anyone in my family, I did so without telling anyone. Months passed and I had forgotten about it, until my son Mason was rushed to the ER for an emergency appendectomy and while waiting nervously for him to come out of anesthesia, I read a message on my email that said, “Congratulations, we’d like to offer you a contract for your book, “The Table.” When my son awoke, I was able to share this news and that it was his encouragement and positivity that prompted me to send it in. He was so excited for me. I love to make my kids and my family proud and give them a mom that they can look up to.

What’s next for you? I have had such an exciting year so far and I feel as though I’m in my “manifestation and fullcircle era.” I’m going to be flying to Indiana to appear on an exciting podcast called, “#EverydayGSD” with the host being Darin Bibeau, a man who I knew when I was in my teens! I’ve submitted my jewelry to a few wardrobe stylists for some popular TV shows. Destiny Hunter, who is a supermodel and actress, currently working overseas, just wore my pieces on her last photo shoot and I’d love to collaborate with Catherine Quirico, an amazing and multi-talented young actress

who supports me on Instagram and who I adore. Just as I grew up watching and wanting to be an actress on Y&R and then seeing my jewelry worn on that show, it would be another dream-cometrue and full-circle moment to see the actresses who I grew up watching wearing my jewelry: Oprah, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Michelle Pfieffer, Reese Witherspoon, and Demi Moore--call me! Hard work and commitment to your community is paramount in your life. Share your background. Day in and day out, I have watched my parents work extremely hard to make a life for their children and grandchildren. Having immigrated from Punjab, India, and starting anew on unfamiliar soil was not an easy feat for our parents. Since I was a teenager, I understood the struggle for immigrants was unfathomably real, and the sacrifices they have made time and time again to open the door to a world I have the good fortune to live in did not come without a multitude of hardships.

My mom gave me my first and second experience in the technology start-up world, starting at the age of 18 and again post college; I watched a company grow from a handful of employees to hundreds of employees. All the while, I gained extensive knowledge in a number of areas ranging from customer service to compliance, communication, and collaboration. I experienced first-hand the amount of effort it takes for a company to be successful (the first company was acquired by Fortune 100 SAP) and established my work ethic in the process. Over a decade ago, my husband asked me to join his family business –quick service restaurants inclusive of Subway, Taco Bell and Pizza Huts housed within Shell-branded convenience markets and a commercial construction firm. Today, Countryside spans a business portfolio that includes large-scale construction, real estate acquisition, retail centers, and over 500 employees. I am grateful to be born and raised in beautiful California, but I can never forget that my roots are embedded in years of hard work that were put in by the generations that came before me. The generations that had to learn a new language and a new way of living in their adult lives for no other purpose but to ensure the foundation was set to make life better for the generations that would follow. Just as my grandparents and parents did for

me and for many people around me, I consider it a social responsibility to pay it forward and do even greater good for the next generations that will follow in our footsteps. This is how I believe we keep humble to our roots and keep progressing as a community. Working hard day in and day out for my family and commitment to my community are absolutely paramount in my life. Tell us about REHNA RAIYA. Neetu developed a “patentpending” fashion industry concept to resolve gaps in girls’ jumpsuits and rompers. Rehna Raiya evolved to help fulfill gaps in girls’ clothing. Rehna Raiya is a passion in fashion with a purpose brand that naturally evolved to fill gaps I observed in girls’ clothing. A portion of all proceeds are donated via the Rehna Raiya Foundation to help educate young girls through partnerships with national non-profits. Rehna and Raiya are my daughters’ names, and the line serves as an empowering and uplifting clothing brand for girls and women. I observed in my own children how clothing could make a girl feel empowered or very easily disempowered. It was important for me to ensure their experience was always positive because a harrowing experience could easily strip any girl of feeling confident in herself.

When I saw the struggle girls faced with wearing one-piece jumpsuits, I created and launched the industry’s first-to-market one- piece jumpsuit that can be unsnapped to a two-piece jumpsuit; our patent-pending jumpsuits allow girls to independently use the restroom with ease. With ease means not fearing locating a restroom in time, not fearing who is going to help you unzip or unbutton the jumpsuit from the back to use the restroom, not fearing the uncomfortable feeling of your entire jumpsuit having to come down to your ankles to use the restroom. My children and I have experienced this first-hand and after a traumatic experience my younger daughter experienced in wearing a jumpsuit, I knew we had to come up with a solution. There was no way my daughter was going to feel alarmed just at the thought or mention of a jumpsuit. As a mother, I am happy to report that wearing a jumpsuit is always a comfortable and confident experience for my daughters, including the daughters of so many mothers who have shared how empowered their daughters have felt to wear a Rehna Raiya jumpsuit. These jumpsuits help girls to maintain their independence while wearing clothing they find fashionable and exciting to wear. For me, that has been a big win.

Similarly, my daughters and I love wearing dresses but another issue we’ve always had in wearing dresses. My older daughter Raiya was drawn to help find a resolution to another challenge in the girls’ clothing industry: finding matching shorts to go with every dress so girls can participate in any activity without being limited by what they choose to wear. With no place to find this exact match, we decided to make matching shorts with every dress in all our collections, from girls to women. With the addition of empowerment tees in our collection with words like “UNSTOPPABLE” and “Future,” our primary goal is to help remind girls of their worth and importance. We designed our packaging and clothing tags with a simple slogan that when wholeheartedly embraced, can have life-changing effects on young impressionable girls: I love myself. I believe in myself. I am UNSTOPPABLE! Your Mommy & Me Collection is popular. Can you share the top-seller? Our top sellers are definitely our jumpsuits and also our Mommy & Me collections. Our brand resonates with people because it goes beyond the idea of wearing clothing that is comfortable and feels good. It is clothing with PURPOSE. A purpose that is embedded in empowering young girls through words like Future

and Unstoppable on the clothing. A purpose that exists through the Rehna Raiya Foundation and giving that takes place throughout the year to ensure we are doing our part to help educate the next generation of girls coming after us. A purpose that exists to resolve gaps in girls’ clothing and helps girls feel independent and empowered through their clothing. Our jumpsuits have been our number one seller because we have given girls their independence and freedom back through the clothing they choose to wear. No longer does a jumpsuit need to restrict movement, make it difficult to use the restroom or feel daunting to wear. Our Mommy & Me dresses all come with matching shorts (with pockets) so a mother and daughter can take part in any activity without limitation. My daughters love doing cartwheels and playing sports in their dresses. In Rehna Raiya clothing, girls don’t need to sacrifice style just because they are playing sports –they can feel fashionable and sporty at the same time. Why is empowering the youth dear to your heart? I was once a young girl who did not know where she stood in this world; a girl who lacked confidence and a sense of purpose in life. For many years, I searched for my purpose in life. I was steered in so many different directions and never quite felt authentic in my own skin. I imagine where we as women could be if we were empowered

at an age as young as five or six, rather than in adulthood when most women seek to be empowered. After I had my daughters Rehna and Raiya, I founded the Rehna Raiya Foundation and found my true calling. Paying it forward to the next generation of girls and channeling funds through the proceeds of our clothing line to youth education and empowerment causes has been beyond gratifying. A portion of every single sale is donated to elevating youth and that is more satisfying than the sale itself. We have partnered with organizations like Girl Rising for International Day of the Girl; understanding through this partnership how millions of girls around the world are denied a basic right to quality education is absolutely crushing. Just as I long for my own daughters to have every opportunity availed to them, education or otherwise, I have the same hope and prayer for every other young girl. There is nothing more invigorating than knowing I am playing a part to invest in the future of girls. The foundation we collectively lay for them today can be life changing for youth in so many positive ways. It can completely change the course of life for cards that may not have been dealt fairly, with a life of opportunity and triumph. I strongly believe that when we empower and educate girls, nations are truly able to blossom. www.rehnaraiya.com

Monica Foglia is one of the most well-known organizers in the world of Wedding Planners, for wedding and event organizations, throughout Italy and beyond. “Lombardy is the region where I was born and which I know perfectly. I like to select the most evocative places where I organize mine events, selecting historic villas, castles, relays, farmhouses, farmhouses or unusual locations. I am very sentimental, I am passionate about my events, I like to take care of them step by step through all the steps necessary to make an event perfect with tested, effective and functional tools but above all with strict organization combined with a refined aesthetic.

I define myself as a perfectionist, eclectic, polite, and above all, creative. I love what I do. This path has given me the opportunity to perfect myself in the world of fashion over the years. The combination of the two paths has allowed me, through my organizational philosophy, to be able to excel in this field in a professional way as well. We are a great, close-knit team with the aim of making this great event wonderful and unforgettable. They are the plots that interest us and the firm knots that people tie together.

Maurizio Raneri, as artistic director of Milano Fashion, I have always lived my life directly through my personal and professional journey, also in the world of fashion. During my journey, I was a photo model for Vogue Magazine, I have always been a sporty person, and for me it represented a mental as well as physical training, like the love for photography and the image which led me to have an experience thirty years in this sector. Graphics and design are part of a world that has always fascinated me; this interest opened the doors of creativity and innovation to me. My commercial nature and my knowledge of marketing and communication, which I have always recognized as a factor, have led my skills in the economic field to be a leader. Returning to the world of fashion and beauty, with vast experience in many creative and working fields, they allowed me to support a professional environment to make this event perfect and unique, according to my philosophy, given that I consider myself a perfectionist.

WHO WILL BE NEAR US? The Festival was celebrated - and honored - by the testimonial presence of government members from the United Arab Emirates and Italy, along with carefully selected fashion designers from around the world, international brands, companies, special guests, artists, diplomats and government entities.

Reflecting on my life journey, I am often amazed at the profound impact of the law of attraction through God's direction on my path. Born Desziree Richardson, my formative years unfolded on the idyllic shores of Anguilla, a small gem in the British Caribbean. Though my beginnings were modest, Many people's lives transcended the simple, unhurried island life.

Dr Desziree Richardson is the UK Representative for the United States Presidential Service, the UK Representative for the newly emerging Birland State, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Chairwoman for the Rotary Club of Global Impact, legally Crowned Princess for Ghana, an International Multicultural Distinguished

My mother, a beacon of strength and perseverance, shouldered the responsibility of raising us as a diligent single parent. Her persistence and dedication are a testament to the love and sacrifice a mother is willing to make for her children's welfare. Her efforts cultivated in me a resilient spirit and an immense sense of gratitude.

The cheerfulness of my childhood was committing to school sports, singing, and reveling in the joy of performing drama and poetry on stage during concerts; I found happiness and fulfillment. These experiences in the formative stages of kindergarten to adulthood shaped my outlook on life. Even at a young age, I was aware of a larger plan at work, compelling me toward a future filled with promise and fulfillment. Though I could not pinpoint the origin of these aspirations, they were as naturally beautiful as the beaches and turquoise waters of my homeland, Anguilla, in the British Caribbean. You have a gift; you are known globally as a vibratory voice healer in which you use your voice as an instrument for change and to empower, heal, motivate, and help transform lives. Explain The transformative power of the human voice is magical. It has the unique ability to convey emotions and messages that can resonate deeply within our souls. It is not just an instrument for speech but a channel through which healing energies can flow. Recognizing this power within my voice is a profound understanding, and the intent to use this gift to spread messages of hope and inspiration is noble and impactful.

Through social media, stages, conference meetings, and audio recordings, I use my voice to carry the weight of healing messages, bridging the gap between individuals, and embedding a sense of unity and well-being. It's about formulating words that uplift spirits, encourage hearts, and remind everyone of the joy of being part of a community. I enjoy sharing healing messages which embrace the opportunity to be a beacon of hope. Meet Sandra Veum

of Mariposa Style, a Style Concierge Whose Mission is to Build Style Confidence for Everyone! By Jules Lavallee

©Red Silk Carpet March 2024- All Rights Reserved

Sandra Veum is a highly sought after Personal Wardrobe Stylist in San Diego. Sandra helps enhance your current style and become a better version of yourself. She focuses her efforts on your individual needs, body type and budget rather than a specific designer, brand, or store. She believes that everyone can be “effortless chic” with their own individual style and at any price. Individual style comes from a person being inspired, open-minded, and confident with who they are. She will help you develop your own personal style and integrate it into your life. Sandra started her business in 2006 and since then has been a critical part in transforming many of her clients. She offers closet evaluations where she helps you edit, organize, “shop your own closet” while creating your own “look book.” Sandra helps you become more of a strategic shopper while learning where to spend the money and where to save. Sandra has been working with individuals, groups, and companies for the past several years, helping them find the “New Version of You.” She is an expert on dress codes and assists companies on how to integrate the dress code throughout the different departments. What led you to be a highly sought after Personal Wardrobe Stylist and personal shopper? What has led me to be a highly sought after Personal Wardrobe

Stylist and Personal Shopper is probably the longevity of my business, problem solving skills, organizational skills, and reputation, not only with my clients but with stores and organizations. I am a woman of my word and only produce what I say. I also do not like to turn away potential clients. I really try to find a way to work together without dropping my rate. It is all about being strategic with my time and knowing where I can best fit and make a difference with lasting style transformations. Due to my past experience in business, I also believe that having a business sense as a Personal Wardrobe Stylist helps in planning and being creative with regards to people’s style journey’s, style presentations, events, and working with different organizations. I like to find out my client’s goals and try to create a personalized style/shopping plan for them. No one is alike. I may use similar formulas but try and switch it up to fit a person’s brand, lifestyle, goal, and budget. I also believe that having a BS Degree in Textiles & Clothing has really helped me stand out with knowing construction, quality, history of fashion, and fit of garments. I am a stickler on having your wardrobe fit you properly. My knowledge and passion for fashion, both past and present, is important but what is even more important, is knowing how to translate that for the everyday person. At the end of the day my business is built around building confidence in people and helping them feel the best version of themselves at all times!

You believe that everyone can be “effortless chic.” Explain Absolutely! Everyone can be effortless chic in their own way. My description of effortless chic is not looking like you are trying too hard. Your style is effortless and speaks for itself. I am all about being approachable and puttogether. Nothing is worse than when you look like you are trying too hard to have style. Style is what you say about yourself without saying a word. I want my clients to have a wardrobe that is easy for them to put together multiple outfits. Everyone has their checklists of their wants and I help them navigate and manage how to produce that with their wardrobe and closet. I like to help people find their interchangeable wardrobe that has plenty of choices for the different events in their lives, including just every day! The word “effortless” is the ease of a person’s wardrobe choices and closet organization. The word “chic” is the style that my clients are wanting to portray without looking like they are trying too hard or trying to be someone they are not. It is important to remain true to yourself but still know how to elevate your style. The best thing is to have an organized closet and wardrobe that you can’t wait to get dressed in! Testimonial from Chef Tori of Bonvivant Food & Wine www.youtube.com/watch?v=K yWyVHDYzMg

What do you offer for clients? I like to think that I help individuals either find their new style, help them remember what their style was, or teach them about mindful shopping if they have a lot of clothes and are already stylish. My services include, personal shopping inperson or privately, full, or partial closet evaluations, virtual shopping/styling, packing/styling, corporate styling & branding, style pretentious, shopping tours, & private shopping events. My overall goal is to listen to my client’s needs and wants, assess where they are currently at, and help them achieve these goals through style. My personal goal is to help you be the best version of yourself, at all periods of your life, while remaining true to yourself. It is all about feeling good and leaving a positive lasting impression on people! Much of your business is also to help people plan for trips. Take us through working with you. I love this part of my business! My past experience in the hotel/travel industry really helps me know how to look at an itinerary and start asking the questions for the style/packing process. Once I know the travel destination and what someone is doing while they are there, my creative process begins. Whether it is a business or leisure trip, I like to know exactly where someone is staying and what activities they are doing so I can visualize the “looks” for them. A lot of the time people are missing key items for outfits while traveling, so I help them with that by making a shopping list and then go shopping to find those missing items. I like to have certain items that can create multiple “looks” so that you do not over pack. This is

where the styled pictures come into play. I take pictures of styled outfits before packing so you do not have to worry about keeping outfits together. There is a key to packing, and it is like putting a puzzle together. I fold and roll filling in gaps, but fold strategically so to get as much in the suitcase as possible. It is all about being prepared and having confidence with your outfits. My goal is to not over pack but still give people plenty of choices to mix things up. Shoe knowledge is usually the biggest take-away from this process. Again, the key is not over packing shoes or clothing! My process is not hard for me, but it does take an organized mind to streamline the process and make sure that you are stylish along the way! Styling Cindy from The Pulse San Diego www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3xe nLvr2C8 You also work with groups and companies. Tell us more! As I previously mentioned, my past experience in the corporate sales & marketing hotel industry adds value and uniqueness to my styling business. My last role in this industry was as Director of Sales for The San Diego Tourism Authority. This experience helps me put on a corporate or association hat to help with, not only creating the Best Practices for dress codes, but to write them and present what this looks like for that particular company or organization. Currently there seems to be some confusion on how people dress for the workplace or meeting with clients. People have a hard time translating what a dress code means to them. I like to meet with the executive team and HR department to learn what the company culture is and learn ©Red Silk Carpet March 2024- All Rights Reserved

about their brand. I then create a plan that best suits their needs. Since Covid a lot of companies are now incorporating business casual Monday-Friday and no longer just Friday’s. The problem sometimes with this is that when people hear business casual, they only interpret the word casual and do not know how to make that business. I like to add the word professional business casual and present to the employees what that means and how that actually looks with visuals for their particular company. I also supply an essential wardrobe list for them, so they know the items they need to create these looks. In addition to companies, I also work with schools and students with this same concept but geared more towards interviewing for jobs and colleges. I have also worked with philanthropic organizations like The Thursday Club and National Charity League with either presenting on style/shopping/closet topics or presenting to young girls ages 1317 (still in high school) on style and how to find the styles, even on a budget. I like to help Moms out by taking them out of the picture of the mother-daughter normal struggle with regards to clothes and help guide the girls to wiser choices for their style. My latest venture is working with an Executive Matchmaking Service to help get their clients ready for their photoshoot and dating. I love helping with these transformations. It is all about putting yourself back out there again and feeling confident about yourself. At the end of the day, my goal whether it is working with an individual, group, or business, is to listen, home in on key areas of the needs & wants then be strategic with my recommendations.

Whether we like it or not people make an impression within 7 seconds, and it is based on four components: your mannerisms, body language, dressing style, and your overall appearance. Style Spotlight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=S MRPL75wtM4 You are a guest on many podcasts. Please share recent guest appearances. One of my favorite podcasts was with Parker Edison for The PE Project with Parker Edison for KPBS: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/p odcast/the-parker-edisonproject/id1548550769?i=1000516 143343 I love Parker’s approach to life and talking with interesting people and topics. I was lucky enough to be on his podcast about local experts in the fashion industry. My guest appearance covered styling for men, specifically streetstyle. We discussed how you can still remain street-style, even as you age, but know how to take that to the next level. We discussed how you might have styled yourself in your 20’s and what that looks like now in your 40’s. I added a little bit of sophistication to the looks but still remained true to his street-style. Another one I did was with Brett Davis for the Brett Davis Podcast (IQ Podcast). I had a blast being interviewed by Brett getting to know me, my background, and how I got started with my business. He was interested in what an actual personal wardrobe stylist did. So many people assume hiring a personal stylist is just for

the rich and famous, but this is not true when it comes to my business. I consider all of my clients Vip! https://www.spreaker.com/episo de/sandra-veum-of-mariposastyle-live-on-the-brett-davispodcast-ep-219--43522772 What is trending? I create an annual Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter Forecast report advising my clients on what is coming our way. I do inform my clients that just because it is on the forecast does not mean you have to wear it to be in style. This is just a snapshot of what you probably will see more of in stores. It does not mean you have to go out and buy that right now. I say only buy it if you are inspired and think it will be a nice addition to your wardrobe. I also push my clients to come up with 2-3 different ways you will wear this item before making that purchase. Here are some Spring/Summer Forecast items for 2024. We will continue to see a high rise wide leg pant & jean, lots of denim (dresses, denim-ondenim, denim button-ups, denim shoes, denim handbags), metallics, the return of the modern pencil skirt, Ladylike jackets, collared shirts and knit polos, The White Dress, trench coats, cut-out floral, sheer, rosettes, fringe, crochet, the micro-heel, sling-back heels, the fancy ballet flat, sculptural jewelry, raffia bags, sun-washed colors, icy blue colors, and Pantone’s Color for Spring 2024 is peach! This is just to name a few off of my Spring/Summer Forecast for 2024. One fashion tip is to remember that you can be inspired with trends, but you should always remain true to yourself and your body silhouette. If puffy sleeves

are not your thing and you have broad shoulders, then don’t wear that. Style is all about confidence. I like to say, “Fashion has a price, but style does not.” How excited are you for spring? Do you have any favorite styles from Fashion Valley Mall that we should check out? I am always excited for the new seasons! Spring for me usually means that the weather is starting to warm up and vacations/weddings/graduations are being planned for, so something to look forward to. I love the idea of all of the spring colors too, even though I will always love black all year long.:) By the way, we also saw a lot of black on the red carpet this year for the Oscars! I would say I am very excited for some new stores opening up at Fashion Valley that always carry fantastic styles like Mango, Veronica Beard, Aritzia, Zimmermann, and Gorjana! If you have not checked out the new Bottega Veneta store you should, it is gorgeous. I also love that Fashion Valley has four anchor stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, and Macy’s to have even more opportunity to find the perfect interchangeable wardrobe for you! www.mymariposastyle.com https://www.facebook.com/sandr a.veum https://linkedin.com/in/mymarip osastyle/ https://twitter.com/SandraVeum https://instagram.com/sandraveu m/ https://www.pinterest.com/marip osastyle/

Dr. Walker

is a

licensed ordained minister and colaborer with Jesus Christ, called to minister the Gospel of God’s Kingdom. She attended the Bride of Christ School of Ministry and trained in a ministerial capacity under the leadership of Apostles, Dr. Benjamin Rucker, and Dr. Angela Rucker. Dr. Walker is a graduate of the Empowerment Theological Institute and Bible Seminary where she received a Doctorate in Divinity and a Ph.D. in Leadership Ethics. Dr. Walker is the CEO and owner of Maximize You! A Financial and Wellness company that offers strategies to thrive in Ministry, the Marketplace, Leadership, and in one’s personal life. She is a native U.S. Virgin Islander and a graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands where she completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Additionally, she completed graduate course work in Public Administration through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Graduate School in partnership with the American University. She is the wife of Apostle, Dr. John Walker, and the mother of three precious children—Tesa, Joshua, and Josiah–son-in-love, Thomas Fabyan, Daughter-in-love Monique, Grand Princess, Azaria, and Grand Prince, Steuart. In 1995, Dr. Walker authored her first book “Life After Loss: A Journey into Wholeness” which remained on the publisher’s consistent seller list for more than 5 years. She later authored, “The School of True Worship and Effectual Fervent Prayer”

manual, the “I am Poster and Worship Journal” and is the artist of the “I AM” (Spoken Word) audio. Dr. Dorn is a coauthor of the #1 Best Selling books “Joy 365 Devotional” and the “Choose Joy” Journal written to encourage joy restoration worldwide. She has co-authored several ecclesiastical training manuals including” the “Outreach Evangelism Manual,” “Essentials: Your New Life in Christ,” and the” Leadership and Empowerment Training” Manuals used to train and equip leaders for over 10 years while assisting her husband in leading a local Church in Pensacola, Florida. She is the founder of the “Oil of Joy Ministry,” an outreach to those with broken lives, including prisoners and AIDS patients and is the Founder and President of “This is S.H.E. Global.” The (Salvations & Healings through Evangelism) Global Movement which provides mentorship and empowerment to women (daughters) called to Ministry and leadership. Share your love for God and what led you to ministry. Wow! I truly found the perfect love of God that casts out all fear! This love has comforted me throughout life and has kept me trusting Him even in the most difficult situations and circumstances. My love for God began at a time when I was a broken 23-year-old who suffered the loss of my husband in an accidental drowning, the sudden loss of my uncle who was in the process of surveying my family’s property as we planned to build our new home, and the death of my oldest sister to cancer. At the

time I suffered these losses, I was a college student with only six weeks left before graduation with my bachelor’s degree in accounting. I was also a young Mom to my 4year-old daughter. My life was so broken that I did not want to live anymore, and I even quit school for four of those six weeks while I stayed locked in my home weeping and crying daily. In my deep brokenness, I cried out to God and declared that if He didn’t show up, I would be out of here. I literally felt my mind leaving me. I was losing my mind. Many friends called me, reached out to me, and convinced me to return to college at least for my daughter’s sake. By the grace of God, whom I still did not know, I completed my bachelor’s degree in December of 1986. During these last 2 weeks of undergrad, many people began to witness to me about Jesus Christ and I started to attend several Churches seeking comfort and healing from my deep emotional pain. I finally surrendered my life to God in January 1987, and I made Jesus Christ, the Lord of my life. I received Beauty (the sweet attractiveness of God’s Presence) instead of ashes (from my emotionally bruised posture). I also receive God’s Oil of Joy and Gladness instead of mourning, and I learned to put on His garment of Praise instead of being burdened with a spirit of heaviness. (Isaiah 61:3 became a reality to me.) This transformation was incredibly real and tangible. God’s love brought me healing, deliverance and freedom. He first loved me, and I began to love Him so deeply that I wanted everyone to know about this transforming love of God.

Several years later, I received an encounter by God’s precious Holy Spirit who called me to preach the Gospel of God’s Kingdom. I yielded to His call, trained, and became educated in the Word of God. I am a licensed ordained Minister who advances, maintains, and occupies God’s Kingdom until Jesus Christ return (this is my “AMO” against every dark area).

You are the co-author of the #1 Best Selling books “Joy 365 Devotional” and the “Choose Joy” Journal. Why was this important to you? Can you share your topic? As soon as I heard the topic Joy 365, I felt an inward drawing to this project. It embodies the essence of one of my life’s purposes—sharing the Joy of the Lord Jesus with others! In the mid-90s, I founded the “Oil of Joy Ministry,” an outreach to those with broken lives, including prisoners and AIDS patients (aids patients were a part of my ministry because at that time many misunderstood the disease and those with the disease often felt rejected and abandoned like other broken people. I was led to share joy with AIDS patients who resided in nursing homes by teaching them about the presence of God. Psalm 16:11 says that in God’s presence there is fullness of Joy and Nehemiah 8:10 tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. I wanted to share the secret of my strength that I found in the presence of the Lord. The “Joy 365 Devotional” and “Choose Joy” project caused me to reflect on this “Oil of Joy Ministry” and God began to instruct me again of the need to rekindle this ministry now that

many are despondent after a Pandemic, recession, losses of loved ones, and from the everincreasing burdens of life. This project is critical in restoring “Joy” to mankind during this season. My Topic is: “When Grief Repeats” At age 23, I was trapped in a grief whirlwind when my husband, sister, and uncle suddenly died. God’s comfort and love brought me through. I remarried and lived a joyous, complete, and whole life for the next 20 years. Then, an avalanche of grief repeated when seven additional family members died consecutively. God reminded me to “show up” for my life despite the deep pain. They were gone, but I was still here! (Isaiah 61:3 instructed me to continue to exchange my emotional pain for wholeness (the state of having a future unhindered by my past.) Seek beauty (God’s sweet presence) instead of ashes. Put on the Oil of Joy (God’s healing balm of liquid love) instead of mourning and exchange my heaviness for a garment of praise (God never leaves us. He lives in our praise). My daily Affirmation God’s thoughts toward me are of peace and not evil. I’m confident that I have a future and hope. I have a predestined purpose that I must fulfill. Therefore, I show up daily for my life. Every day, I immerse myself with God’s Oil of Joy, His healing balm of liquid love that keeps me whole and restored!

What is your hope for these books? My hope is that “Joy” would be restored to mankind during this

post pandemic, post-recession, war torn world, which is often filled with ever increasing losses and burdens. The Bible tells us that the Kingdom of God is “power,” and it is” righteousness,” “peace,” and “joy” in the Holy Spirit. These Kingdom attributes can’t be bought but are necessary to overcome all obstacles and to live a hope filled, victorious life in the midst of chaos. My prayer is that these books will draw many to this Kingdom lifestyle that begins with receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and then by intentionally yielding to and living through the winning power of God’s precious Holy Spirit. What’s next for you? I plan to continue marketing and promoting my 4 books and other products (which can be purchased at https://wallsofsalvation.global/gl obalacademy/. Also, I am in the process of writing my fifth book entitled “The Un-Chameleon Effect!” This strange little title addresses “How to Maintain Civility in a Chaotic World and Growing Ethical Leaders in All Seasons & for Future Generations.” I believe that I have another Best-Selling book especially in a time when our Nation and the world seem to be starved for effective leadership necessary to take us to the next level. I encourage you to look out for this upcoming new book. I am also excited that my husband and I are also transitioning our ministry reach from Florida to the Nations of the world. Stay tuned! By God’s grace, I believe that the best is yet to come!

Share your background. How do I even begin to narrate the intricate tapestry of my life? It’s been anything but straightforward, adorned with unexpected twists, profound dips, and exhilarating swirls. Yet, here I am, on the precipice of reaching what feels like a significant milestone. My name graces this story as a wife, a sister, a pet parent, and a daughter deeply woven into a rich tapestry of familial and professional relationships. Married to Jason Smith for a remarkable 15 years and 6 months, our union is fortified by time and shared experiences. Though we haven't had children together, Jason's has three children, and we have our four beloved fur babies: Isabella “Bella,” Coco Chanel “Coco,” Cush, and Lyric, not to mention Einstein, my bearded dragon who holds a special place in my heart. My foundation is rooted in Camden, NJ, in a home where love was the currency and ambition the guiding light. My late stepfather always showed unwavering support, and my late father left an indelible mark on my heart. My father was my best friend and showed me the game. He was a true entrepreneur and to know him was to love him. My mother, Doris, my eternal confidante, and best friend, instilled in my brother Farley and me the values of love, respect, integrity, and honor. Education and exploration were the pillars upon which she built our upbringing, propelling me into a world of dance, music, and etiquette, all while emphasizing the paramount importance of knowledge and self-reliance. The inception of my journey traces back to a bold endeavor at 18, when I dreamt of franchising a Subway, a dream that quickly pivoted towards a career in

banking, only to find my calling in healthcare as a CNA, and eventually, a shift manager at Taco Bell. My trajectory took a significant turn upon meeting Jason, leading me to embrace the role of a homemaker, then a CHHA, and later, a student aspiring to impact the world through nursing and human services.

have faced some obstacles, but she did it so gracefully that we never felt it. She made sure we had clothes on our backs, food on the table, a stable household, and plenty of LOVE. Family and love were at the fold of our lives and being together is what we did. I can remember my mother making me clothes, teaching me how to cook and take care of a home.

My professional journey is a mosaic of roles: from nursing to entrepreneurship, from leading a home care agency to navigating the challenges and triumphs of long-term care management during a global pandemic. My passion for teaching, infection prevention, and consultancy in the healthcare sector has been a testament to my resilience and dedication.

When you ask me why helping others is my passion it is because I get it from my momma. It is truly innate, and I was raised to uplift and empower others. To care for others and that it is bigger than me but seeing a smile on someone else's face sets off my own endorphins. I just love and live for it. As I am writing this, I realize that I have a huge smile on my face just reflecting on my childhood and the many blessings bestowed on me.

In the midst of these professional endeavors, I embarked on a venture in real estate and financial services, culminating in the foundation of WS Financial Realty Services. This venture not only signifies my entrepreneurial spirit but also my commitment to empowering others through financial literacy and opportunities. My contributions extend beyond the professional realm into the heart of my community, where I've devoted myself to uplifting others, fostering leadership, and facilitating success stories. My drive is simple yet profound: to help others and to create an environment that exudes peace, love, happiness, and productivity. As I reflect on my childhood I really cannot complain. My mom who was/is a single mother raising my brother and me. Though we grew up in the inner city of Camden, NJ and I think we may have been considered poor I never knew and still to this day I do not feel like that because our home was filled with love, laughter, joy, and fun. I am sure my mom may ©Red Silk Carpet March 2024- All Rights Reserved

Tell us about your calling in healthcare. Your passion for teaching, infection prevention, and consultancy in the healthcare sector has been a testament to your resilience and dedication. What have you learned about yourself while helping others? Early on in life I loved everything about business. I graduated high school from a technical school where my focus was business technology. I loved everything about business. As stated, my first business venture was trying to franchise a subway at 18 years old. My first job after graduating high school was at a PNC Bank so business was my thing. However, within a year I decided I wanted to work in healthcare and took a 6week certification course as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2001 then moved into behavioral health.

Moving from a career in finance to healthcare was a no brainer because most of the women in the family worked in healthcare and still do to this day. My mother, who is now retired, was a Social Worker, my grandmother a CNA/CHHA, my aunts and cousins were all CNAs, so it felt right and when my cousin Shakia took me under her wing and trained me on giving the best care ever. As I move through my career the way my cousin trained me has always been a guiding light. Even today when teaching CNAs or Nurses I use Shakia as an example of what care should be. My motto is and will always be “I can teach anyone a skill but what I cannot teach is compassion so if you are teachable and have compassion then you as a healthcare professional can affect change by giving the best care to our residents, their families, and one another based on the compassion that one holds.” The journey continues. In 2010 I decided to become a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) and while in class my instructor encouraged me to go back to school for nursing. By September 2011 I was enrolled in Camden County College and obtained my associate degree in science by December 2013. I applied to Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in December 2013 and was accepted into the January 2014 cohort. By May 2015 I had completed the Registered Nursing (RN) diploma program and was licensed in August 2015. My first position as a RN was in Long Term Care (LTC) of a memory care unit. Remember I had a love for business and leadership but

more importantly effecting change. So, within eight (8) months I was able to secure a career as a Director of Nursing in the nonskilled home care industry. I loved everything about working in homecare, so I decided to open a homecare company. I loved to support patients and families in their homes where they have raised their families and that is their safe haven. However, in July 2019 I decided to return to the LTC setting after being out for almost 4 years working in home health and it came at just the right moment. Just 6 months after returning I was promoted from Unit Manager to Assistant Director of Nursing/Infection Preventionist and two weeks after beginning this new role the pandemic hit and that is why I said I entered at the right time because we got hit so hard that every hand was needed.

During the pandemic we really learned what perseverance, teamwork, dedication, and love meant. It was a scary time being as though I was the Infection Preventionist (IP) and when the first resident tested positive, I was the first one to take care of the resident due to my staff being scared. Because of this I was the first staff member to get COVID19 and almost died from it. My husband, mother and brother almost died too, and I had given them all COVID-19. At the same time, I had to return back to work due to there being no other nurse leadership in the building. During the pandemic and what is new normal is what I have realized is that yes, we are nurses, CNAs, doctors, and the many other titles

©Red Silk Carpet March 2024- All Rights Reserved

that we carry but what we (me) are more than anything is “humans first.” My signature saying now is “forgot about titles, titles are meant for compliance, let’s focus on being humans first and everything else will fall into place because we are taking care of people.” During the pandemic I really honed my passion for writing policy and procedures, creating education programs and teaching due changes that were made daily sometimes when it came to COVID-19. We had to reinvent how we did things in order to save lives including mine, my family and friends and the community. I already had a love for reading and researching from my childhood and I am a firm believer for every problem there is a solution. So, the pandemic put me headfirst into being the solutionist in order to save lives through education which led me to becoming a Director of Nursing and RN Consultant. I am a firm believer that in order to effect change on any level we must start with education. What I have learned is that education must be at the core of any institution because in the classroom is where you truly get to connect with your staff and staff with you. Learn how to communicate with one another through engagement and feedback. And you get to break bread with your staff whether it is coffee and a pastry or full-on breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And what is the best way to get to know someone over a meal because that is when people tend to be relaxed in my opinion.

You are launching your own Med Spa, SOHO international glo. How excited are you? What can we find? Yes, my plan was to launch my Med Spa in 2025, but when I finally became an RN Consultant working on Directed Plans of Correction in the long-term setting, I realized it was time. The two DPOCs that I had the opportunity to work on were great, but I realized I wanted more. I realized that in order to effect true change it was time for me to put into my own business what I have done for every other healthcare institute over the years. What sold me on it was my first shadowing experience with a RN in Philadelphia in her Med Spa. I loved the atmosphere, the patients, just everything about it. It was definitely different than what I was used to but from that experience I knew I had to keep going and so I called my now Medical Director and asked him if he wanted to own a Medical Spa in New Jersey and he said yes.

My husband then spoke to a doctor he knew, and we are in communication about him being my Medical Director in Philadelphia, PA. We will be opening in Cherry Hill, NJ and Philadelphia, PA. I already have a location in Cherry Hill, NJ and our tentative launch date is April 16, 2024. Our Med Spa is called SOHO international glo. SOHO is derived from the Periodic Table of Elements and international glo to signify that we find beauty in all people. I am super excited about this new journey and learning a lot along the way. Some of our initial services will include injectables such as Botox and Sculptra. We will have a health and wellness program where we offer Semaglutide or Wegovy, B-12 shots, Liquid Lipo Shots, and IV Hydration. Microneedling with PRP for hair loss and as an anti-aging treatment. Services to offer later will be hormone replacement therapy for adults, dermal fillers and non-surgical BBL with the focus on my patient having a natural “glo.” Before I go, I want to say thank you to Dr. Iris Wright for even giving me the information to be able to tell my story. I want to say thank you to my family and friends who have always supported me. My husband, I could not do any of this without his love and support and who keeps me grounded when I get sidetracked and always ensures that I put spiritual things first in my life. He is my backbone, but our God is what keeps us together as a threefold cord. She can be reached via email at lsmith@sohointernationalglo.com

survive and strive only with each other's help because no one can do this life alone; we do it better together. I'm thankful for the people who have paved the way for me, and I am willing to pay it forward.

You call yourself a “people servant.” Share your background.

Tell us about your work as a Book Coach.

I have always worked in a "serving others" capacity. I have been a public servant for 36 years with the federal government, serving as a community volunteer and a church group leader. We collectively have a responsibility to help one another, and we all have a calling to be people servants for a better mankind. It does take a village. At an early age, my parents shared the importance of being people's servants; it is a generational duty. We were taught to help others, our family, and the community. The people's servant value has always been and continues to be at the forefront of my personal and professional life Being a People Servant has been a pillar of my career success. We

I love sharing my knowledge and expertise as an author with others who want to explore authorship. We all have a story to tell. Our individual stories are footprints for someone else's life. As a Book Coach, my job is to walk you through the writing process, provide the necessary tools for crafting your ideas, and pull your ideas together into a book masterpiece. I can't tell your story as well as you can, but I can help you through the writing process. The more we share our life stories, perfect or imperfect, the more we feed the souls of others. My Book Coaching strategy and goal is to coach, inspire, empower, and help others find their voice through written words.

Hoinser magazine featured you as one of the Top 100 Inspirational Women. What did this mean to you? Can you share the proudest moment in your career? To be featured as Top 100 Inspirational Women has been one of the highlights of my career. I never dreamed that writing inspirational books would have a global impact. In my writing, I share about the goodness of GOD in our lives and his grace and mercy for everyone. I emphasize in my writing that we all fall short of the glory of God, and redemption is for everyone. For readers to embrace my novels from an inspirational perspective has been overwhelming and gratifying. The proudest moments in my career are helping Soldiers and their families, receiving printed copies of my first novel, being featured in the anthology America’s Leading Lady with dynamic women such as Oprah and Melinda Gates, and receiving my Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration (Hon. Ph.D.) from Trinity International School of Ambassadors. I give God the glory. You are a best-selling author and co-author of Joy 365. Please share your inspiring story. To become a best-selling author and international best-selling author has been truly a blessing. I never imagined that doing something out of grief, such as journaling, which I started as a grieving child, would turn into

purpose, passion, and a platform to share words of inspiration. My inspirational story in Joy 365 was based on the biblical principles in James 1:2-4 NIV: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish it work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Let’s face it. Life comes with many trials but the outcome from those trials you encountered didn’t break you but strengthen you. Working with Dr. V was incredible. This is my second project with her, and I have learned so much from her shared expertise, knowledge, and experience. Dr. Vee's passion and willingness to see others succeed and become best-selling authors is inspiring. She goes above and beyond to ensure the co-authors in Joy 365 were equipped with the tools to further their careers as authors and business professionals. She always said, "There is a piece of the Pie for everyone." Kudos to Dr. Vee for bringing together 365 people from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, and globally into one successful project and Amazon bestsellers. How has journaling helped you to overcome emotional stress, grief, and pain? Oh wow! That is a loaded question. Emotional expression through writing has been clinically proven to help emotional and physical health. When I was in the 7th grade, my grandparents died. I was introduced to grief and depression at an early age. I wasn’t

very good at expressing my feelings verbally, but I loved writing. My parents gave me a journal. I didn’t know at the time that Journaling was therapeutic. As I have grown older, the same method of Journaling I used to overcome grief as a child I use as an adult. I have had my share of life setbacks, emotionally and physically. Journaling will open your heart to release emotions triggered by trauma, grief, pain, sadness, and joy. I share my life experiences authentically and caringly to let others know that their feelings matter and that they are supported and not alone. What next for you? I have several big projects that I would love to see come to fruition within a year. I’m praying that my first true-to-life novel, “Keep Me Near the Cross: Judgment or Journey, is produced into a movie. I’m always inspired when asked, “When is the movie coming out, or I would love to see the novel as a movie?” A movie deal would be a dream come true. I started the creation of a nonprofit called “Kids In Need Dream Success (KINDS). KINDS is a global organization that will assist school-age children in underserved communities with the necessity for school and provide books to advance literacy in underserved communities. I’m currently working on my next novel. www.keepmenearthecross.com

Best-Selling Author Diane Maupin “It’s OK NOT to be STRONG RIGHT NOW!” in Joy 365 a Devotional By Jules Lavallee

Diane’s life was forever changed when she lost the love of her life, her husband, who was not only her soulmate but also an exceptional father, best friend, and a talented entrepreneur. Overnight, her world shattered, and she faced the daunting task of not only navigating her own grief but supporting her 2 grown children and a teenager still at home. As the sole provider for her family, Diane had to rebuild her life from scratch, picking up the scattered fragments of her shattered dreams. In addition to losing her best friend, she also lost her home and her business. She NEVER gave up on the journey... and would like to help others to understand the journey and the trials…. It’s a journey, and some journeys are harder and more painful than others, but keep on going, it gets bearable and you will find joy again.

Share your background. I am a Dallas native and the mother of 3 fabulous children and 4 grandchildren. Rode horses and did barrel racing, ballet and modeling while growing up. Was married for 31 years and worked with my husband in our Dental Lab until his passing in 2007. Overnight your life shattered, when you lost your soulmate. Please tell us about your husband and this time in your life. I had a very loving and strong marriage. We went to work the day after a strong storm that blew down the fence at our house. When we got to work after getting

our youngest son off to school, we were just doing regular work and Ken (my husband) came up to me in my office telling me to call an ambulance. I turned around from my computer and saw his face. He was pale and sweating profusely. I asked him what was going on and he told me thought he was having a heart attack. I called the ambulance and there were problems getting him down to the ambulance. When he got to the hospital they tried to stabilize him. I had called family and friends and they started showing up. The doctor said he needed surgery. He had 3 quadruple bypasses, and they did not work. He passed away 4 hours before my birthday. To say I was devastated is such an understatement. I had sent my kids home, the friends and family home, but a good friend refused to leave, for which I am eternally grateful. As the sole provider for your family, you had to rebuild your life from scratch. What emotions ran through your body? Where did you find solace? I had to get my youngest son graduated, which was a challenge as he was soooo angry. I had 2 granddaughters, 1 was 4 weeks old and the other one was 8 months old (part of our dream was to be grandparents) I was in shock, could not eat, could not drink, had trouble dealing with the fact the love of my life was gone, was angry that God took him and not so many "bad" people... not rational, just how I felt. Wondering how I was going to survive, prayed to God to take me, worried about my children and my grandchildren, how was the dental lab going to survive? I did the office work, sales etc, not the stacking of porcelain, etc. I

had my salvation/solace from friends and family, even with being angry at God, I still prayed for salvation and strength to not give up and to survive this devastation and grow. You are the co-author of Joy 365, a devotional with Dr. Venessa Blackwell at the helm. Please share a bit about your contribution to this powerful anthology. My contribution to the fabulous Joy 365 is geared to motivate people to not give up when devastation/grief destroys life. When my world was destroyed, it would have been so much easier to give up and try to go with my hubby, but I had children, grandchildren I wanted to be there for. I want so badly to help anyone facing devastation/grief to learn how to cope, move forward and above all, not give up. What have you learned about yourself during this journey? During this painful journey, I learned that I was indeed a strong woman and a survivor. I needed to show my children and my grandchildren how to deal with life issues. I really wanted to give up and not try, just float through life. However, it was not a possibility for me. When I lost my husband, I then lost our business, lost my home, and found out that he had cancelled 2 of his life insurances without telling me. So, on top of losing the love of my life, I lost the life we had built and was starting over. I also learned I was too "stubborn" to give up. Life is good and while it does not seem like it at times, I truly am.

Best-Selling Author and Outdoor Enthusiast,

April Woolsey By Jules Lavallee

April Woolsey is standing in her season of exposure and return. She is a long-standing member of the Shed Crew Hunt Club located in Winnsboro, SC. She was featured in the 2023 Ladies In The Outdoors Magazine and recognized for her love of the outdoors.

As a native of Columbia, SC, but no stranger to the world, she’s an avid traveler, and enthusiast of many areas. Passion, showing that life should be lived, and making an impact has always been her superpower. April is a US Army Veteran, current Vice President of the Gold Star Wives of America, Palmetto Chapter, a licensed Notary Public, and most recently a best-selling co-author of Joy 365. April proudly served her country in the US Army as a construction engineer for nine years with a tour in Iraq. During her service as an engineer, she made history as the first female to be allowed in the 173rd Combat Support Company, under the 173rd Airborne Brigade, located in Vicenza, Italy, where she acted in the capacity of many roles. Besides her most favorite role as a team leader, managing five soldiers, her other major role included serving as the principal administrator responsible for performance on a variety of technical, analytical, and advisory duties as the Rear Detachment Supervisor. Beyond her military experience, and many achievements, her time as a Total Army Instructor allowed her to not only grow, but build her inner strength, enhance her knowledge in strategic thinking, becoming more diversified in writing, and empowering others. Unfortunately, while deployed to Iraq, she became a widow at the young age of 24, losing her beloved husband Jay, who also served with her as an engineer in Italy. As a strong advocate for mental health, she’s always showing others that regardless of what you go through, learn to embrace life, overcome your fears, and take in

all what life has to offer. Making an impact has always been your superpower, please share your background. I had to learn at an early age, to not let hardships, failures, rejection, and difficult times discourage or exhaust you. So, I made a promise to myself, to become the example I wanted to see and live by that to the fullest. I try to keep others encouraged by giving positive affirmations, showing my most transparent moments, and that life goes on regardless of what you may endure. Staying proactive with various outdoor activities, and many other hobbies I love to indulge in, also shows others that it’s so much that life has to offer, and to commit to keeping themselves happy by any means necessary. You are a strong advocate for mental health, tell us about your important work: I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and their wellbeing, so when I became a widow, that motivated me even more, which is why I decided to complete degrees in human service management, and a minor in behavioral psychology. I’ve completed several courses in relation to mental health such as Critical Incident Stress Management Training, Army Center for Substance Abuse Program, and Family Readiness Training. As a member of the Gold Star Wives of America, I’ve provided peer counseling, and attended activities that encourage better ways to cope with depression, anxiety, and other mental issues. I’ve also participated in various activities

provided by the Tragedy Assistance Program, and the Survivor Outreach Services, to assist military families that have suffered the loss of loved ones. As a motivational speaker, I was allowed to keynote at various events on my life experiences as a widow, depression, and the everyday mental health challenges that many battle. I am a constant supporter of the program Stop Solider Suicide that provides nonstop care, resources, and research, for all military soldiers that deal with harsh mental challenges relating to suicide and prevention. Share your challenges on your road to success. I credit my road to success to my military career, and my drive to always make a better version of myself. I’ve faced too many challenges to count, but the major challenges were the loss of my husband at the young age of 24, and my father in 2012. Losing my husband while still serving in the Army made it very difficult for me to stay focused and complete my contract. We had the same job and worked together, so that crushed my momentum and any other goals we planned together. My father was my best friend and mentor, so losing him really broke me down to the point, I didn’t want to function as I normally would. Once I remembered how both of these amazing men would encourage and keep me motivated about life, I then understood and walked in my purpose again.

You are the co-author of Joy 365, what led you to this project?

I was actually invited to participate in Joy 365 by another co-author, Dr. McKey, who happens to also be a dear friend, and Army veteran with whom I had the pleasure of serving with. Once I read the purpose of Joy 365, I didn’t hesitate to contribute to this amazing project. Please share your topic in the book and your takeaways.

My topic was based on empowerment, motivation, and encouragement. Some of the key takeaways were finding and maintaining peace of mind, understanding your worth, knowing how to navigate through life, and to stay motivated about yourself. Why was being a part of Joy 365 important to you? This project was most important to me simply because I could share my outlook on positivity, empowerment, and to motivate others on a bigger platform. You never know what people are really dealing

with, even behind smiles, so to have an opportunity to share encouraging words was not an option for me to walk away from. What is next for you? I have a few projects that I’m currently working on for completion this year. I’m also in the process of becoming a Tragedy Assistance Program Mentor, and a volunteer at the W.J. Dorn Veterans Hospital. On a more personal agenda, I’m planning a cross country road trip on my motorcycle to Alaska, as well as to Hawaii, so I can complete all 50 states. I'm currently at 48.

Washington, D.C. Author Brenda Bell Recalls Daughter’s Near-Death Encounter in Riveting Book, "Miracle Jane Doe: From Tragedy To Triumph" By Jules Lavallee

Rev. Brenda Bell was saved by Jesus Christ in 1997 in Los Angeles at the Dr. K C Price Crenshaw Christian Center. She is Licensed and Ordained, ICCM (International Congress of Churches, Dr H Michael H Chitwood. She has been a staff member for a year at Intercessors For America. She is a first-time author on Amazon with her powerful story, “Miracle Jane Doe: From Tragedy to Triumph.”

It is one thing to go through a traumatic event when you are the victim. It is another thing when your only daughter is left for dead, and all you have is faith to keep her alive. On one particular October night in 1997, Aisha left her family home to go clubbing with her so-called boyfriend and friends in the DMV (DC/MD/VA) area. The night seemed normal until her mother Brenda did not get a check-in call from her daughter by 2 am. As the hours kept going and going, Brenda grew more concerned, waiting to know if her daughter was safe. With phone call after phone call, and prayer after prayer, Brenda's world started to turn upside down as she desired to find her only daughter. Family, friends, police, TV camera news, a nurse, and Almighty God all played a part in her journey to finding her missing daughter, but disappointments and temptations to extract revenge for the possible suspect(s). Be inspired, equipped, and empowered by the spiritual work of God as Brenda shares her eyewitness perspective of her daughter's remarkable story! Share your inspiring journey and what led you to ministry? I was born in the Washington DC inner city and was an adult child of an alcoholic and grew up in a domestic violence home. We had the good, the bad, and the ugly. Growing up I competed in Track and Field and became a City

Track Champion in the newspapers, I was Captain cheerleader in High School and Homecoming Queen. Later I competed in the Miss DC Black America pageant and several other pageants and went on to college at Morgan State University. I was captain cheerleader in my Freshman year and made the Varsity cheering team. I dropped out of college in my junior year and was dealing with depression and not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. I went to Los Angeles to live and take residency to attend college, which I did in L.A. While in Los Angeles, I still was not feeling fulfilled, and a friend asked to come to a Chant meeting where celebrities would also be there. After 2 years still not fully satisfied, I had an encounter with Jesus, it was God's spirit and love filled me when I accepted Jesus. In Los Angeles, my daughter was born. After 5 years I relocated back to Washington, DC, and got involved with the local church and heard the call of God to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt purpose from this calling in 1982. Your book "Miracle Jane Doe: From Tragedy To Triumph," is a riveting and spiritually empowering story. What do you want us to know about your daughter?

My daughter is a very loving, kind, and giving person. She loves God. She loves life and people. She's like a butterfly, a warm, beautiful, caring soul. When she was born, she was the apple of my eye and gave me a reason to live again. Her beautiful smile was infectious as a toddler everywhere we would go, people would stop and admire her. Mother’s, It says the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world! In school, she wanted to fit in with the crowd. She said crying, mom friends are

everything! Wow, I couldn't understand that because I never followed the crowd, they followed me. I wanted to live my dreams through my daughter and enrolled her into actress Kim Fields mothers Chip Fields acting school for children in Hollywood, Los Angeles. They said my daughter is natural for the cameras and will go into many doors of commercials and acting. My daughter was very trusting and unfortunately trusted the wrong people who almost took her life, but God said No, through his power, grace, and mercy brought her back from a tragic incident and brought forth his miraculous healing power in her life. You speak on topics of trauma, grief, and prayer. Take us through your journey. Trauma is when we experience very stressful, frightening, or distressing events that are difficult to with or out of our control. It may include feelings of great sadness, anger, guilt, and despair. Jesus told his disciples their sorrow will turn into joy! It was as time went on to see my prayers being answered and my daughter being healed. I was overwhelmed to see the baby she delivered full term my grandson, born on the due date 8 lbs. 4 oz. and she named him herself, Isaiah! Even though it hurts for a while, keep praying and believing through the grief and trauma, because joy comes in the morning! So don't give up no matter what it looks like. Keep your trust and faith in God. He gives us beauty for ashes and the joy for sorrow, pain, and suffering. He takes our pain and turns it into power! https://www.amazon.com/Mir acle-Jane-Doe-BrendaBell/dp/1087999405

explores the psychological, sociological, and historical reasons why Black women started, and to this day in many cases, continue to straighten their hair. The topic was relevant almost 30 years ago, and it continues to be a timely and relevant topic today. It is not uncommon for many Black women to have a love/hate relationship with their naturally curly hair. For many years, the acceptable standard of beauty on TV, billboards, and other types of advertising consisted largely of White women with long, silky straight, mainly blonde hair. Many Black women and some Black men have even been made to feel inferior in the workplace because of the hairstyles they chose that do not fit into the European beauty standards. The scope of this subject is too deep and layered to go into too much detail in this article. I will add that after prior years of straightening my naturally curly hair, for the last 30+ years, I have learned to love my hair just as it is! To be free of dangerous chemical relaxers and straighteners is the most liberating feeling! That is why I entitled my children’s book Just As It Is! I know through writing this book, and by example, I have inspired many Black women over the years to feel the same way! That’s a beautiful thing!

You recently added to your literary achievements by releasing your captivating book, Just As It Is! What inspired your story?

was around six or seven. Abena, the main character in my children’s book, wanted to have her hair styled like her role models…….her parents!

My primary inspiration for writing Just As It Is! came from overhearing one of my 16-yearold high school students, who was Black, negatively speaking about her hair and its texture. She lamented to her classmates that Black folk’s hair was a “curse.” Having just written the Black Folk’s Hair book, I was appalled to hear her describe our hair in this way. At that moment, I decided that I would write a book for children that would empower and encourage them to love not only their hair, but to love all their God given features, such as their complexions, nose, mouth, eyes, and their bodies! My inspiration was further fueled by my two young daughters who were already on track to love their thick curly hair. I realized that this was due to the way their father and I spoke to them about how beautiful they both were just as they are! The lightbulb came on that parents are their children’s first teachers. The love of oneself must begin in the home environment and be encouraged by the child’s parents or guardians! If not, we run the risk of our children growing up with similar thoughts like the high schooler I referred to earlier.

Lastly, I want to emphasize that Just As It Is! carries a message for ALL children regardless of their gender or ethnic background. I wrote this book as much for parents as I did for children. The onus is on parents to teach their children self-love and acceptance. If not parents, then who will?

Just As It Is! is loosely based on the true story about my oldest daughter, Aliya, who desired to have her beautiful thick hair styled into the “loc” hairstyle that her father and I wore when she

Tell us about the “Abena Doll.”

After writing, publishing, and promoting the children’s book for almost a year, I kept getting a gut feeling that the story needed something else to complete the mission of self-love that I was promoting. One day I was watching a morning news show that featured a segment about a woman who wrote a book and an animal she designed to go along with her book. I loved that idea! The addition of a Black doll coupled with the colorful cover of the book, would become more visually appealing to all children. I view the Abena Doll, who is named after my main character, Abena, as a delightful companion for any child who gets the book! I’ll also add that when the Abena Doll and the book are displayed, many children and adults are instantly attracted to the doll first, and then the book.

My mission for this book and its message is twofold! The overarching message is for parents and guardians to teach and encourage the children in their lives about self-love and self-esteem with regard to all of their natural God given features.

However, I don’t think those lessons should end there. I believe parents should also teach and encourage children to

accept and appreciate the differences in other children regardless of their cultural or ethnic background. It’s good to love yourself, but it’s awesome to not bully or shun another person because they look different from you. I view my mission for this book as a small, but huge contribution towards making this often polarized and divisive world a better place to live and work in. It has to begin somewhere…….why not start

with our children!! What’s next? I would love to continue a series of stories/books addressing other important aspects of Abena’s life as she is growing up. I have already started writing the second story. The basis of these stories will always do what I am most passionate about….motivate, educate, and inspire children to love themselves and to accept and appreciate others.

That is the message that I want to leave with my audiences and anyone else who will listen! www.janicekenyatta.com

Her signature book, Creating Ambassador of Peace: 16 Steps to Become an Ambassador of Peace is an Amazon Best Seller. What led me to create TAM Creating Ambassadors of Peace LLC? During the pandemic, I had time to reflect on my life and my divine assignment. I lost two students to violence, and 3 cousins in Baltimore to gun violence. There were so many incidents of school violence and too much negative influences on social media that led to cyberbullying, misinformation, and hate. I knew I had to use my voice to make a positive difference. I created TAM Creating Ambassadors of Peace and developed programs for corporate America and schools to help make the climate more peaceful. I also started speaking internationally and nationally, spreading positive energy in every room I spoke to teach others how to become an Ambassador of Peace. The work of TAM Creating Ambassadors of Peace: I provide workshops to organizations on how to create a peaceful climate as well as leadership training for organizations. Consideration. I also train school administrators how to use research-based strategies and activities to promote a healthy climate. I use my book, Creating Ambassadors of Peace – 16 Steps to Become an Ambassador of Peace to teach students to communicate, not retaliate and to have compassion and empathy for others. I show students how to identify their gift and passion to live in their purpose which will lead to inner peace. I wrote a CREED for students to recite as an affirmation for peace. How are you fueling change? Through speaking and writing, I am changing the world one person at a time. By speaking and writing on peace, I am promoting empathy, understanding, and raising awareness that it is everyone’s responsibility to make this world a more peaceful place. Tell us about your recent WOHA Award. What made this special? During November 2024, I received a Women of Heart Award and was crowned Emerald Queen of Peace. This was very special to me because I received this from Dr. Desziree Richardson, a person who thinks like me and really knows how to find the good in a person. Her positive outlook on life, wise words of wisdom, and kind heart and soul inspire me every day to do more to make this world a more peaceful place. Becky Mosbrucker, a Renowned Women’s Safety Training Specialist By Jules Lavallee

Becky is an advocate for women’s safety. She believes safety training for women is essential today. However, she found no companies were offering the types of services she was looking for. She took many courses out of the area to get her start. She decided to form her own safety company and called it Forward Safety Training, LLC to train men and women the safety aspects of firearms training. She has several Instructor Certificates under her belt, including the NRA Certified Instructor for Basic Pistol and Rifle, Certified Instructor Refuse To Be A Victim, and the NRA Chief Range Safety Officer program. She is also an instructor for the USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association. In her endeavor to continue learning, she received her CPR Instructor qualifications, giving more people a chance to survive. She’s been teaching safety classes for over 20 years but recently wanted to concentrate more on teaching safety to women specifically. She teaches women how to move forward in their journey through life with a positive attitude while being conscious of their situations and surroundings. She’s extremely aware of contemporary concerns for women at home, in the workplace, on the street, online and in social situations. Becky believes you should always try new things, that’s why she has started a new

community for women called the “Stronger Together Tribe.” This community is for all women, whether they have a business or not. It’s not just another networking group. This community includes selfimprovement opportunities, making deeper friendships, gaining new skills, developing your creativity, self-development challenges, and more. Her mantra for this group is: Learn, Grow, Connect. You have spent your career advocating for women’s safety. Share your background and what led you to your career. My daughter and I attended a citizen’s police academy when she was in college. I realized after our 12-week class that women were not learning how to protect themselves because they weren’t being taught. So, I decided to get some training and help women in my area. My goal is to have fewer casualties in my county, state, and around the world. Tell us about Forward Safety Training, LLC, and the resources you offer. I’ve taught safety for over 25 years but started teaching women’s safety 7 years ago because I realized we needed to know how to protect ourselves and not rely on others to do it for us. There were no classes in my current county, so I went out of state to get my training and brought it back to my training to teach others. Now I have

several certifications under my belt and volunteer to teach for several organizations, plus teach classes under my own company name Forward Safety Training. You have helped women to go from frozen to fierce. You have co-authored several best-selling books. What can we find in “The Book I Read.” I was so excited to become a published author! I realized I liked writing when I was writing my blog during the shutdown. The Book I Read was my first book that went to #1 internationally. So, happy about that! I wrote about a book that I read by Joyce Meyer called “Do It Afraid.” It’s all about doing things that would normally scare us, but if we have faith, we can do anything! She helped give me the strength to go on with my business when people were trying to shut me down, shut me out, and make me stop being prosperous. Tell us about the Stronger Together Tribe. Yes, this is a networking group, but it’s more than that. We are a community of women, here to create a supportive and inclusive environment where members can learn, grow, and connect with each other. Our community is open to every woman who is interested in joining a community of likeminded women, whether you have a business or not.

If you are a woman who just wants to make new friends, you are a business owner and want to grow your clientele, or if you are a college woman who is looking for a few new friends, you've come to the right place. As a member of the Stronger Together Tribe Community, you will have access to a variety of resources and opportunities to help you grow. This includes self-improvement opportunities, making deeper friendships, gaining new skills, developing your creativity, self-development challenges, and more. You are a much sought-after speaker. Please share your topics and speaking engagements. I speak on a variety of different topics. Some of the topics I have spoken about are: women’s safety, senior citizen safety, college-aged women’s safety, single women’s safety, mothers with small children safety, business owner’s safety, freelance owners’ safety, entrepreneurs’ safety (especially if you have a business that goes into other people’s homes). I have also spoken on firearms safety, several other topics surrounding firearms and starting a woman-owned business in a man’s world. I’ve spoken at various organizational meetings around my local area and out of state, as well as online. I’ve been interviewed by several companies who wanted my perspective on

starting a woman-owned business in a man’s world and starting a business just before the pandemic and how I kept it going when we couldn’t meet in person. I have had a fantastic time speaking to different groups and being interviewed. It has been a wonderful experience for me, and I can’t wait to do more! What can we find on WOW Warrior TV? The WOW Warrior show spotlights powerful women around the globe who are an inspiration, writing their own history and creating a legacy. They are living out their legacy. These women embody what it means to be a WOW (Woman Of Worth) Warrior. They Stand UP and Stand OUT as the unrepeatable miracle they are. When you see this woman coming – all you can say is WOW! Tune in for inspiring stories from phenomenal women that will empower you to chase your dreams! Watch now at www.everydaywomantv.com. You have to have a paid subscription to watch this tv channel, but my interview was on how I started my company on my own, with no help/support, learned things the hard way (as many of us do), and how I continued my business during the pandemic. It was a great interview! What’s next for you? Well, I started my Stronger

Together Tribe community late last year (I have a private group on Facebook and a paid community off of Facebook), but most recently I have started recording for a podcast with the same name. I interview businesses that are womenowned and learn how they can help us in our everyday lives. Again, it’s not all about being a business owner, although that will probably be my largest audience. Topics I’m working on are how massage plays a role in teaching us how to relax and concentrate (whether that’s to benefit our business or just help us focus on other tasks), skincare, make-up, writing a book later in life, how retirement looks at age 60+ and how we can enjoy it – so many topics – these are just a few! I love finding ways we can connect to one another – whether we live 5 minutes down the road or we live 5,000 miles away! I was interviewed by a lady in Australia last week and now she is a member of my tribe! I love connecting! If you’d like more information about either of my businesses or just want to connect, you can find my websites here: https://forwardsafetytraining.co m/ https://strongertogethertribe.or g/ I’m also on Instagram, YouTube, Tik-Tok, Linked-In, Pinterest, Alignable, and Twitter.

Laura Burnett started her career as an actress in Los Angeles. She studied Strasberg and Meisner for over 10 years and was in a few indie films and a national commercial. She then went into production and got her first job on the Dick Wolf true crime series, “Crime and Punishment.” From there, she worked in different areas of production on TV series for FOX, NBC, VH1, and MTV. When she lived in New York City she became a producer on A&E documentaries and an independent film documentary about the corruption on Wall Street, called, “The Wall Street Conspiracy.” From there she has worked as a producer for the last 14 years for the Warner Brothers Discovery documentary true crime series, called, “On the Case with Paula Zahn” as well as multiple Discovery Science documentaries and other Warner Brothers true crime series. Laura is stepping into the spotlight with her debut single "Moments" under the artist’s name Laura Burnett. The heartfelt indie rock love ballad will be released on March 29th, giving listeners a taste of what's to come on Laura Burnett forthcoming EP "Moments in Time."

With a passion for storytelling and a love for music, Laura Burnett has been working on her EP for the past year, pouring her heart and soul into each track. The song "Moments" is a reflection of her personal experience and emotions, capturing the essence of falling in love. When did your passion for entertainment begin? My passion for entertainment began when I was around 3-4 years old in Hudson, Florida. My family got me a small guitar when I was around that age. I would play guitar in my living room and sing, pretending as though I was on stage performing for people. I didn’t officially know how to play, since they got me a guitar but didn’t

get me lessons. Looking back on it is funny. I would strum and pick the strings in rhythms that sounded good and sing songs I made up in the moment. I then took clarinet and was in the first chair in elementary school. In my pre-teens, I started doing celebrity impressions to make friends and family laugh. I wrote and performed plays for my family and the neighborhood, watched Chorus Line multiple times to learn dance moves, and then created my own choreography and put on dance numbers. I used to see choreography numbers in my mind before bed and fall asleep. Then at 12-13, I was a breakdancer in a breakdancing crew and made-up raps. I used to battle at a club. At the same time, I had a friend from NYC who taught me a NYC club dance he learned at the Limelight. So, I would battle with my crew, pop, and lock, and then dance with my friend. So, entertainment was a passion since I was a small child and onward. My first passion or talent though was drawing, and art and it stayed with me. I had many talents including fashion and cut up my clothes and redesigned them, so I wasn’t sure what to pursue. My mom thought I should pursue acting. I chose that, moved to LA, studied, was in a few things, then had to make some adjustments, but stayed in entertainment. Your directorial debut was for your short film “Blind Truth,” which garnered 84 wins worldwide. Tell us about the inspiration for the film and why you believe it resonated with people worldwide. I was working long term at a company doing a multi-position part legal, budgeting, and post. With that company, I could not go into writing or any other creative position or any other position in general. I pitched them many show ideas, but they were turned down and I asked to move to different positions so many times they told me to stop asking. I was told they needed me where I was at, and they

didn’t want me to do anything else because I was excellent at what I did. I was watching old movies in LA, and I can’t tell you exactly what happened, but I was feeling frustrated, and these visions started happening and I saw the entire film for “Blind Truth” in my mind. It came from an internal place. This is usually how any of my personal projects happen including music. I see it, hear it, and then make it. So, I wrote the script which was a crime thriller shedding light on wrongful convictions; a subject I care about. I then had to figure out the rest and figured it out as I went along. As far as the story, I wanted to make it so the audience could understand both sides of a wrongful conviction and how it can affect generations. I am not sure why it resonated with people, but I was hoping to make something entertaining and also open one’s mind to how our actions have consequences and have an effect on others. Maybe that is why it resonated with people. I believe people connect with the themes of justice and injustice. How excited are you for the release of your new album? What do you want people to know about your single, “Moments?” I am very excited by the release! I have wanted to do this for a long while. Music brings me so much joy. It took almost a year to get it mastered because of schedules, but I did it, so I am quite excited to finally put the music out there. I did in fact learn guitar in the early 2000s, and started writing music since, but I hadn’t released any songs. “Moments” was written about a feeling I had when falling in love, but as with all songs, everyone will have a new association in relation to their lives. What’s next for you? As far as music, I am releasing my EP “Moments in Time” shortly after the single or possibly releasing another single. I have a few other songs that I have written and need to record, so I plan on doing that later this year.
