Once completed, Saadiyat Island will boast its own beach and marina district, as well as a unique ‘cultural district’ that’s already making headlines around the world. Saadiyat Cultural District is set to host the world’s largest single concentration of premier cultural assets in one area. Here, international museums Louvre from Paris and Guggenheim from New York are in the process of building extensions that will sit proudly alongside local developments Zayed National Museum and Manarat Al Saadiyat. Saadiyat’s developments are being planned with an environmentally friendly approach, ensuring that the natural beauty of the island remains intact. Many of the season’s dynamic designs reveal a homage to winter’s most time-honoured themes. Think sombre hues, gothic glamour and f loorskimming silhouettes. Yet, thanks to the invigorated panache with which designers sought to blend these conventional elements, an undeniably bewitching effect radiated from the runways. Reimagining classic cuts and textures with a modern hand, svelte velvet gowns graced Ralph Lauren and Valentino. Emilio Pucci even went so far as to slash necklines revealing a far racier feel. Favouring barelythere lace and tiers of undulated chiffon, Alexander McQueen’s haunting ode to Victorian glamour honoured the brand’s famed repertoire for art-like creations. Marc Jacobs, meanwhile, showcased a mix of rich brocade prints and theatrical skirts.

Delighting fashion eccentrics, the runways proved the ultimate playground for off-the-wall upholstery prints, dazzling tapestries and decedent embroidery. Consider these the markings of today’s modernday socialite. Destined for the chicest of jaunts are Chanel’s immaculate tweed pairings, cardigan coats and glittering feather skirts. Perfectly complemented by dainty toe-capped sling-backs, quilted handbags and the ever-prevalent presence of pearled accessories. Prada showcased a love for traditional textiles as herringbone and houndstooth tailored frocks were paired with leather opera gloves. Moving away from prim and proper, however, was Lanvin. Inspired by Alber Elbaz’s Moroccan roots, discover sequinned tunics, exotic patchwork and tasselled trims perfect for the well-travelled elite.

Arguably one of winter’s favourite trends to revisit, the military movement infiltrated every fashion aspect from trademark shades to regimented cuts and crops. Key pieces include a play on the United States Navy’s famed double-breasted reefer jacket. Adorned with signature gold buttons, the covetable coat was worn long at Michael Kors and Chloé and served to toughen up sheer lace creations at Nina Ricci. Alessandro Michele’s debut for Gucci rendered an all-together vintage vibe. Snap up stylish cropped jackets for autumn afternoons and hefty trench coats with army accents for winter. Those in search of a less direct reference to the trend should look to Salvatore Ferragamo. Military-esque pieces honed into this season’s love of graphics. Think double face stripes, askew buttons and asymmetrical cuts.

When it came to choice of texture, soft and supple reigned supreme. Leading the charge on stylish separates, Burberry Prorsum’s legendary trench gave way to a procession of must-have patchwork ponchos, heavily fringed suede jackets and cosy Shearling coats. Easy to wear and effortlessly chic, plush Shearling layering was also spotted at Chloé and Ralph Lauren. Winter’s usually ubiquitous chunky knits have been replaced by form-fitting jersey, becoming as much of an extension of silhouette as an expression of style. At Stella McCartney, striking ribbed single-sleeved sweaters and slinky roll neck jumpers echoed the designer’s much loved no-fuss aesthetic. Followed closely by the sleek and fluid body-skimming ribbed wool dresses favoured at French fashion house Céline.

A distinct summer hit, the bohemian spirit of the 1970s continued to ripple through many a collection – although, admittedly, it shone the brightest at Balmain. Here, bold colour blocking, statement pleats, high-waisted flares and knock-out jumpsuits up the ante on this season’s affinity for high-octane glamour. Several other designers dipped into decades gone by, think mod ‘60s and glam rock ‘80s. More haute than hippy, boxy silhouettes and thigh-high hemlines rocked the runways at Prada, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Dior, where Raf Simons served up patent trenches and boots. Those with a sense of ‘80s nostalgia can take their pick from punkish prom-style dresses at Saint Laurent, exaggerated power shoulders at J.W. Anderson and layers of glorious lamé pleating at Loewe.

Certainly not for the faint at heart, this season’s print objective is clearly one of extremes. Dare to wear head-to-toe prints as seen on the runways of Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Givenchy, Hackett London and, of course, the eternal advocate for power prints, Etro. As tempting as it may be to break up these striking suits and team with more conservative pieces, their impact is stronger when worn together. In fact, it’s stronger still when punctuated with power accessories. Think patterned scarves and striking tote bags.

A tried and tested shade for this time of year, autumn’s much-loved Bordeaux-based palette delivers timeless sophistication with a hint of modernday edginess. One simply needs to look to Lanvin for lessons in claret dressing. From slick biker jackets and patterned bombers to slightly oversized chinos, the French label offered a cool and contemporary feel. For more formal occasions, follow Valentino’s lead and break up the maroon mood with a mix of standout prints and textures.

New designs took a noticeably larger-than-life approach to the season, especially where outerwear is concerned. Oversized coats were championed at Lanvin, Dries Van Noten and Calvin Klein. However, with cocoon-shaped shoulders and lengthy shapes out in force, artful layering becomes essential. Define your frame by pairing pieces with the season’s ‘it’ turtleneck sweater. Statement coats at Burberry Prorsum and Saint Laurent also add an interesting twist to winter’s urban uniform.

SUCCESS STORY ——— As a brand new manufactory opens, so too does a fresh chapter for A. Lange & Söhne

On the southern edge of one of watchmaking’s most famous towns sits a gleaming centre dedicated to horology. Here in Glashütte, amid the clusters of historic buildings, stands the impressive new manufactory from A. Lange & Söhne. The sophisticated space is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of watchmakers, as they follow in the footsteps of the industry greats who first honed their craft in the town’s workshops centuries ago. The very first A. Lange & Söhne manufacture opened its doors in Glashütte in 1845, so it’s all the more fitting that the new manufactory opens here, as the company marks the 200th birthday of its founder. “The anniversary reminds us that there is no future without a past. Ferdinand Adolph Lange established the tradition of A. Lange & Söhne as a performance and innovation driven brand. With every launch of a technical innovation or a horological complication, the challenges and expectations are growing. This is what motivates and inspires us,” says Wilhelm Schmid, A. Lange & Söhne CEO. He adds: “At A. Lange & Söhne it is always about exploring new dimensions. After a construction period of three years, the new manufactory is now the next step in this process. If one looks at the intervals at which we have launched complications like the Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, the Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar Terraluna and the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater, it becomes quite clear why we needed a new, state-of-the-art production facility. We want to maintain this momentum.” The new manufactory, which opened last month, boasts a contemporary and eco-friendly design intended to foster the best working environment for the company’s talented artisans. Large

atelier windows allow light to flood in on modern watchmaking work stations, which have been set up in a virtually dust-free environment. Schmid says: “The new building is an extension of the manufactory. Next to our historic premises in Glashütte, we have created an additional production area of 5,400 square metres to give us more room to concentrate on perfecting our craftsmanship.” After opening the first Glashütte workshop in 1845, Dresden watchmaker, Ferdinand Adolph Lange ensured the future of the company he founded by passing on the mantle to future generations. Under his sons Richard and Emil, the firm went on to great heights. Their precision pocket watch from Saxony was exported across the world, much sought after for its high complications. However, the aftermath of World War II saw the company nationalised and, as a result, lost until 1990 when Ferdinand’s great-grandson Walter Lange relaunched the brand. From this re-emergence, the company has gone on to become one of the world’s most exclusive houses of horology, producing just a few thousand handmade pieces in gold and platinum each year. Specialists in complications, they include perpetual calendars, world-timers, tourbillons and minute repeaters. Among the successes to date is the Lange 1, with its distinctive outsize date and the Lange Zeitwerk, which boasts jumping numerals in a mechanical display to provide an alternative way to show hours and minutes with rotating hands. Schmid says: “Of course, the Lange 1 is an all-time classic. The brand icon and the other models of this watch family are a major driving force behind the success of our company. proven once and for all our competency in the field of premium quality chronographs. While, the Zeitwerk, with its jumping-numerals display and constant-force escapement has all the qualities of a landmark.” Describing the painstaking steps behind the creation of each remarkable piece, Schmid says: “Every A. Lange & Söhne watch has its origins in an idea. The objective of our product developers is to create timepieces that have never been made this way before. Right from the beginning, the movement designers work hand in hand with the product designers. Ultimately, the theoretical world of design interfaces with the real world. This is where the prototype makers take over. Their full-scale working models undergo a series of severe stress tests in the in-house testing laboratory before the new model is ready for series production. “After that, the next steps are the production and decoration of parts with the entire range of finishing techniques that are typical of the brand. This includes the hand-engraving of the balance cock. The double assembly is another Lange speciality to ensure superior quality. Some of our complications are so complex, that only a handful of specialised watchmakers are able to build them.” Establishing a new centre of excellence in timepiece design, the main focus of the Glashütte facility is to nurture the modern watchmaker. Schmid says: “The profession of watchmaking gives great opportunities to achieve personal fulfillment. Since 1997, the

Lange Watchmaking School provides training that meets the high standards demanded by the manufactory. On average, we accept 15 to 20 apprentices per year. After the three-year apprenticeship, most graduates will work at the Lange manufactory where they will be offered good career opportunities. “There is a wonderful and stimulating atmosphere in the workshops. The feeling there can be summarised in three words: serenity, dedication and concentration.” Looking towards a new era for A. Lange & Söhne, with its manufactory at its heart, watch aficionado Schmid adds: “In my life, I have had the good fortune to turn my hobbies into a career. I am a petrol head and I worked in the German automotive industry, and I am a watch collector who was given the chance to run one of the best watch brands in the world. I hope in future we will have ample opportunity to come up with exciting new ideas that keep the fascination for A. Lange & Söhne alive.”

A DIFFERENT SCRIPT ——— The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi debuts a new season of performing arts

A cultural movement is taking shape amidst the building blocks of concrete and steel in Saadiyat Island as The New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Arts Center stages some of the most innovative and respected artists in the world for its inaugural season of performing arts. Executive Artistic Director Bill Bragin hopes to have a full house with The Art Center’s eclectic line up of concerts and events for the current Fall 2015 and upcoming Spring 2016 programme. “The plan is to be a key player in Abu Dhabi’s emerging Saadiyat Cultural District. As the city transforms itself into a leading cultural destination, along with its many other identities, a lot of plans revolve around visual arts and our goal is to provide that same kind of variety and inspiration in the performance arts realm,” explains Bragin. The inaugural season officially launched on September 2nd with a rousing performance by Toshi Reagon as she sang a concert version of Octavia Butler’s post-apocalyptic novel Parable of the Sower.

The American singer, songwriter and guitarist used new opera as her medium to blend science fiction with African American spiritualism laying bare emotions and philosophising the future of human civilisation. It’s a work of undeniable power and one that would probably have not made its way to Abu Dhabi if it wasn’t for Bragin. “What I’m really proud of is the fact that we have a range of artists that I would term ‘master artists’. They are truly the best of the best. For example, Meredith Monk is a pioneering composer with her fusion of sound and movement and is now celebrating her 50th anniversary. Then there’s Les Ambassedeurs, an all-star band from Mali who revolutionised Malian music, featuring perhaps the country’s greatest singer Cheick Tidiane Seck and Amadou Bagayoko, one of its finest guitarists. We’ve also got Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley who essentially created funk music side by side with James Brown. “Many of the artists on the programme are artists I’ve worked with through the years in previous roles with Lincoln Center in New York or the globalFEST music festival I helped produce. I already had a strong sense of their quality and excellence and, in many cases, their willingness to help build this from the start. Once I went through the list of artists, I started speaking to my colleagues on campus to try

and get a sense of what some of the topics are that feed into the professors’ course work so that when artists come, it can relate to the academic mission of the campus as well,” says Bragin. Education remains integral and many of the visiting artists are involved with workshops and master classes with plans in place to have invited performances in public and private schools. “As arts and culture becomes an increasingly central part of Abu Dhabi’s identity, a lot of what we’re seeing is how to build that capacity. It is built through audiences but also through future artists and helping to give local musicians, actors and dancers the chance to connect with some of the best in the world,” explains Bragin. He adds that some artists such as Aparna Ramaswamy from the Ragamala Dance Company have also been commissioned by The Arts Center to develop brand new works in residence. The new season showcases incredibly diverse acts including Taiwanese dancer Huang Yi and his robot companion KUKA who will be in the capital for a show that combines modern dance and visual arts with robotics. In October, The Nile Project and Ragamala Dance will have UAE premieres while contemporary theatre company Polyglot Theatre will host an interactive event for children that makes use of thousands of ordinary cardboard boxes.

“Abu Dhabi can be a very complicated place in the sense that there are so many people coming from so many different places and with varied backgrounds. Communicating with all these different groups is something that we’ll learn only as we go along. This is our inaugural year and it will be the first phase in the building blocks of what we will grow into in the future,” reveals Bragin. The Art Center’s season of performing arts will wrap up in May 2016 and, until then, visitors can look forward to discovering new and innovative artists almost every week. “When people come to Abu Dhabi, they enjoy the beaches, go shopping, head to the desert, visit museums and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque but they aren’t going to performances as such and that’s what we’re hoping to change,” says Bragin. “I’m really excited and curious to see who shows up.” For more information and to reserve tickets for upcoming shows at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi visit: nyuad-artscenter.org

“I was five years old when I started art school. At that age, it was largely about play, but it put me on the path. I loved art and anything related to it,” says architect-turned-artist Michael Arnold. This early introduction was to become a lifelong passion as the creative spark carried on into a career spanning four decades. “I continued to paint all through school and in college while I was training to be an architect. I loved every minute of my architecture career, the problem was it never allowed me time to pick up a paintbrush,” he reflects. “I was a very old-fashioned architect and I did everything by hand. When computers were introduced everyone had one except me. I did everything in front of the client by sketching by hand. I always kept that, but never turned it into artwork.” Arnold quickly rose from office boy at an architectural firm to its president and CEO. Eleven years ago, his work brought

him from his native Philadelphia to Dubai, designing buildings across the Middle East. But it wasn’t until he sold the firm, that the opportunity arose for a return to his first passion. “I finally had the chance to take time to focus on my art. I love coming to the studio and painting. I’m brand new to this and it’s wonderful to learn something different every day,” he says. At his studio, nestled among the windtowers of Dubai’s oldest quarter, Arnold’s thrill at being able to explore his creative side is clear. Every inch of the space is filled with paintings, sketches and photographs in this nook in the heart of Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. A glance around reveals inspirations which have shaped his work, particularly some of the UAE’s most wellknown structures such as Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. “I think that mosque is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.

I was trained in a realist style called alla prima, which means first mark. It means you don’t have to work on a painting for 30 days, waiting for each part to dry. I love the style because it means that you can see all of the brush strokes

“The detailing, design and everything about Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is just incredible. It’s a building I visit often; it’s of a standard you just don’t see that often. I also enjoy the architectural elements in the souks and, in particular, the different types of Islamic architectural details, specifically Moroccan arches used in some of the region’s landmark structures.” Another inspiration is British watercolourist Trevor Waugh, a mentor who coached Arnold at his studio in England for six months. But perhaps the most significant moment in Arnold’s art career so far came when he discovered monoprinting and with it, a signature. “I learned the basic monoprint technique from Lynette Ten Krooden, a South African artist. I started to experiment on my own. The idea is that you roll oil paint on to a plate of glass, place paper on top, take a pencil and then sketch over the sandwiched paint and paper. After completing the sketch, I go back over the paper layer and make impressions where I want to emphasize strong contrast between light and dark. I use a lot of different tools for that stage, from forks and spoons to my thumb and a roller pin.

“When I peel the paper off the glass, you have what is called the positive print. I then lay another sheet of paper on top of the oiled, painted and etched glass surface, use a roller to transfer the remaining paint onto the second sheet to create the negative print. When my wife saw the first one I ever did, she asked for a much bigger monoprint, so instead of a small print from a small piece of glass, I bought a large mirror and a long roll of printing paper, and went through the same process. That was my first large monoprint, of the textile souk. I finished and thought to myself, this works.” In the process of cleaning up, a practical solution turned into an artistic answer, adding an entirely new dimension. Arnold explains: “It took hours to clean the oiled glass. Searching for an alternative to painting directly onto it, I decided to use heavy duty foil, placing it on top of the glass and spreading the paint on top of the foil, which I call the plate. My plan was to throw the foil away when I was done. But I took a corner, and was about to rip up the foil, when I looked at the reflection, started walking around it, and thought, I’m not sure I should be throwing this out. What started

I use oil paint because I don’t have to be in a rush to get things done, if my sketch takes two hours that’s fine because oil paint stays wet for a couple of days. I’ll then come back the following day and spend about eight hours all the way through to get each layer

I teach art to young adults with special needs. It is the greatest thing I have ever done, the students are the most extraordinary people. The centre, Mawaheb, is the reason I stumbled upon my gallery, I went in looking for a studio space and I found it from there. The students pop into my studio throughout the day and I love it

out as a time saver, ended up becoming a fourth version, so now you have the sketch, the positive, the negative, and the foil. The gold leaf was something introduced because I felt like I needed something to add reflected highlights.” The work caught the eye of Showcase Gallery owner Sharon Harvey who offered an exhibition in September last year. Arnold says: “When Sharon asked if I’d like a solo exhibition I was ecstatic. I had all my watercolours, oil paintings and one monoprint displayed in my studio, but she wanted the show to be nothing but monoprints. The celebrated Emirati designer reveals his thoughts and aspirations for this month’s Dubai Design Week

It was 7am on a Ramadan morning, a very quiet time in the city, as I head towards the INDEX towers to meet Ben Floyd, CEO of A r t Dubai Group, t he organisation behind Dubai Design Week. I spent over an hour chatting with him about the recently announced Dubai Design Week. An hour that allowed me to understand the thought and preparation behind the forthcoming event. This hour was essential to discuss, debate and subsequently justify in my mind what design week is all about. Many questions had been floating in my mind: are we, is Dubai, ready for a design week and if not when would we be? Do we need to be ready to have a design week or is the setting up of a design week a reason for us to become ready and to propel us forward? Despite these questions, I never questioned its relevance. So, what is the importance of a design week? I have been attending Milan Design Week (Salone del Mobile) for the past few years and have witnessed how such a week opens tremendous doors for participants and visitors alike from all creative sectors. You don’t need to participate physically to have those doors opened, but you need to attend. It’s a platform created to celebrate, exchange,

create opportunities, debate, showcase and emerge. Dubai Design Week is no different – a new platform for an emerging design industry, I believe the team behind Dubai Design Week has captured this well. And here we are now, with the f irst edition of Dubai Design Week ahead of us, from October 26 th to 31st . The line up of events, exhibitions and programming that has been put together celebrates all design has to offer, with the focus centred at the heart of Dubai Design District (d3) but intending to mobilise the city as a whole. For this week, a group of good friends and pioneering designers from different creative disciplines including, and led by myself, will introduce a new flavour. Far away in the heart of industrial Ras Al Khor, at my showcase space KASA and its surrounds, we are inviting people to enjoy our group presentation. It’s a thematic presentation that will address a milestone and a key environmental platform in the landscape of Dubai’s geography. Each person, in his or her discipline, will present a project exploring this theme and questioning its existence. From architecture and product design, to fashion, jewellery, food and taste, the creative movement will contribute to the

It’s our mission, as pioneering designers in our own fields, to lead this journey across our nation and encourage more to join forces. I am confident and optimistic about how the infrastructure and set up for a design industry is being laid across the city and for a design community that will evolve over time. That said, the tendency to shift career to become a designer is growing at a feverous rate and has become an overnight dream for some; as a consequence the global design population suffers. Will initiatives such as Dubai Design Week help to preserve and maintain the industry? I look forward to finding out…

Teatro is a dining institution to many Abu Dhabi gourmands. The restaurant has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors in Park Rotana Abu Dhabi in November 2010 and is now entering a new culinary chapter with a restyled look and menu. The open sushi bar is still a central fixture in the restaurant as are the busy kitchens and wine cellar, but the bar has been redesigned with a Japanese theme in an ode to Teatro’s eastern influences with an ambient chic lounge also competing for attention. The dining space is an elegant take on Italian charm with striking Venetian masks, flower arrangements and artistic chandeliers that set the tone for a memorable meal. The food is, after all, the main attraction here. “I joined Teatro in April last year and helped launch the new menu. Teatro is where eastern cooking meets western cuisine and we have flavours from Italy, India, Thailand, China and Malaysia. It’s a very big menu which can be very challenging, but very rewarding as well,” explains Teatro’s executive sous chef Antonio Lopez. The comprehensive à la carte selection features everything from Japanese sushi, Asian curries and Chinese dim sum to Italian pizzas, Indian tandoori and even western classics such as beef tenderloin. Chef Antonio Lopez’s various culinary influences and previous roles in Asia and the Middle East have helped him create Teatro’s robust menu that also shines a spotlight on his underlying creativity. “I don’t have formal schooling in the culinary arts. I was studying computer engineering in university and supported my studies by working in a hotel in Manila doing odd jobs such as stewarding and housekeeping. I was then assigned

to work in the hotel’s Japanese restaurant as a steward. I remember noticing how the chefs moved and plated dishes, and knew instantly that I wanted to do that. So I forgot about my course and shifted my priorities to learn to cook instead,” says Lopez. He decided to leave the Philippines and move to the Middle East for a change of scenery and worked in Egypt and India before joining the Teatro team under the leadership of Ted Espiritu, executive chef at Park Rotana Abu Dhabi and Park Arjaan by Rotana. “I had my mind set to work in the culinary world and not computers. I learnt from experience and was passionate about my choice. I could see that I’d have more creative freedom as a chef, have a lot of input and at the same time absorb ideas from different people. I started my culinary career in 1997 and worked my way up from being a steward to where I am now. “Every experience has taught me something new but I still remember my first role model, chef Sam Hirota. He was the chef at the Japanese Aoi restaurant when I worked at Manila’s ITT Sheraton. All our guests came from Japan and demanded authenticity, which chef Hirota delivered but he didn’t want to be known as just a chef – he wanted to be known as a businessman. He was so dedicated that he cared about every single peso spent on the restaurant. I learnt everything about running a restaurant from him,” explains Lopez. Chef Antonio Lopez is a fan of every dish on the new menu but covertly singles out Teatro roast duck on the bone to Concierge: “This is our version of the traditional Chinese Peking duck using locally-sourced produce such as pancakes and vegetables, combined with Chinese sauces such as hoisin and plum. If I could eat one dish for the rest of my life, this would be it.”

The third-largest mosque in the world, this majestic structure is comprised of over 1,000 columns and 82 domes embellished with semi-precious stones, gold and marble. Inside, the spectacle is equally impressive with glittering chandeliers, spectacular floral motifs adorning the walls and a vast hand-woven Persian carpet in the main prayer hall.

FERRARI WORLD ABU DHABI The first ever Ferrari theme park is home to Formula Rossa, the fastest roller coaster on the planet, which reaches speeds of up to 240 kilometres per hour as well as the Fiorano GT Challenge, which offers an exhilarating simulated racing experience. Another island beach destination worth visiting is the sprawling Yas Beach on Yas Island that can be easily reached on the Yas Express bus route. Yas Beach is free to access if visitors have booked a stay on the island but otherwise entrance costs just AED50 per person on weekdays and AED100 on weekends. bustle of city life. It’s best to visit on a weekday as it can be quite difficult to find a quiet spot on the public beach during busy weekends. Also keep in mind that visitors won’t be able to swim out too far here as floating fences are in place within 40 metres from the beach. One of Abu Dhabi’s secret gems is Al Bateen Beach – a stunning destination that overlooks Hodariyat Island to the west of Abu Dhabi. Awarded the prestigious Blue Flag sustainability award by the Emirates Wildlife Authority, residents head to the beachside park on weekends to enjoy family picnics by the waterfront. With 800 metres of coastline, there’s a lot to experience here and visitors will appreciate the wonderful cafés, children’s play areas and watersports available. There’s also a dedicated ladies section at Al Bateen Beach that provides a more exclusive experience for women complete with female lifeguards. Access to Al Bateen Beach for women costs just AED25 per person and AED5 per child but remember that boys over the age of six won’t be allowed in and the use of cameras is strictly prohibited. For those who like to say active while on holiday, Al Raha Beach Hotel organises a range of watersports such as waterskiing and wakeboarding through operators Halla Walla. In Abu Dhabi’s second city of Al Ain, Wadi Adventure at the base of the Jebel Hafeet mountain is also very popular and features the world’s largest surf pool, whitewater rafting, and many more challenging activities. After a day out in the sunshine, visitors can enjoy a desert safari with views of the majestic Arabian desert or set sail on a sunset cruise from Yas Marina before enjoying a sumptuous dinner on the beach at La Piscine Pool Bar and Restaurant at Al Raha Beach Hotel.
