El edificio del Centro de Magisterio la Inmaculada perteneciente al Arzobispado de Granada se instala en la zona Norte de expansión de la ciudad en el barrio residencial de Almanjayar caracterizado por el predominio de vivienda colectiva en altura en proceso de consolidación. Desde el principio se vio la oportunidad de construir un edificio con vocación de hacer ciudad en un lugar donde aún no existe actividad pública consolidada caracterizado por la ausencia de equipamiento urbano de calidad en sus inmediaciones. El proyecto indaga en formulas para su integración urbana, en la permeabilidad de los espacios complementarios al programa docente, situando estos a cota del plano de ciudad sin que aparentemente exista un límite impuesto entre el espacio urbano exterior al edificio y el colectivo que se contiene en la planta baja de este. Los usos más públicos en el edificio se disponen en esta planta baja alrededor de un patio que los unifica acordándolos visualmente mediante cierres acristalados y los separa al mismo tiempo confiriéndoles la autonomía necesaria para el desarrollo óptimo de su actividad.

Desde el vestíbulo de acceso en continuidad con el porche de entrada y este en relación visual con la calle, se visualiza las actividad plural que oferta el edificio: biblioteca, sala de exposiciones, iglesia, cafetería, auditorio y polideportivo; todos, a excepción de la biblioteca, susceptibles de su utilización exterior directa y ocasionalmente, independiente del uso del edificio en utilización simultánea gracias a un acceso alternativo público directo de uso discrecional.
Envolvente contínua sin puentes térmicos
Se proyecta la planta de accesos y de relación como un espacio umbral comprimido por el “peso” de sus plantas superiores.
The “La Inmaculada” teacher training centre, belonging to the Archdiocese of Granada, is located in the north of Granada city, in the developing residential area of Almanjayar where high-rise, multi-family housing blocks predominate. The more public areas of the building were laid out around a courtyard on the ground floor that links them together visually with glass closures, while at the same time separating them so that they have the independence needed to effectively perform their activity. We can catch a glimpse of the many activities offered by the building from the lobby, which is accessed via an entrance porch leading from the street. It could be said that the most important decision made during the project was the ceramic envelope containing the classrooms, which appears to hang over the city. This structural solution was based on a study of the section: a truss beam, holding the two upper floors of classrooms and departments, supported by two rows of brackets spanning a large space, under which we have the communal areas in continuity with the outdoor landscaped terraces and protected by a powerful overhang. In the floors above, the ceramic shell that is the teaching area is rhythmically cut into a modular structure and the classrooms are laid out in such a way that they are illuminated laterally by patios which were carefully designed to ensure rigorous light control. The resulting envelope is an effective wall where passive energy efficiency is increased thanks to a section of 9 cm. From Joaquina Eguaras avenue in front, it was intended that the building would not appear overly high and that the volumetry would appear friendlier, more familiar and more domestic, like a large house.
