Founded in 1934, the University of São Paulo (USP) is a public institution maintained by the State of São Paulo.

This performance, built over more than eight decades of a relentless pursuit of excellence, has placed USP among a select group of world-class institutions. Its undergraduate programs span 183 courses in all areas of knowledge, distributed across 42 schools and research institutes, serving over 58,000 students. Today, USP is responsible for more than 20% of all scientific production in Brazil.
To carry out its mission, USP operates multiple campuses in the cities of São Paulo, Bauru, Lorena, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, Santos, and São Carlos – along with teaching units, museums, and research centers located in various other municipalities.
