After one day of workers walking off the job and picketing in front of all 23 of its schools, those running the Cal State University (CSU) system got some sense and saw this was a bad look.

O, with a bunch of classes being cancelled and students not occupying campus space, CSU reached an agreement with the California Faculty Association (CFA). The one-day strike by CFA members was intended to go five days. The strike has been called off and is now officially over. CSU sent

out an email late Monday night on Jan. 22, saying an agreement has been reached and that students are advised to look for messages from their instructors regarding adjustments to their classes. “I am extremely pleased and deeply appreciative that we have reached common ground with CFA that will end the strike immediately,” said CSU Chancellor Mildred García. “The agreement enables the CSU to fairly compensate its valued, world-class faculty while protecting the university system’s long-term financial sustainability. “With the agreement in place, I look forward to advancing our student-centered work — together n Strike, see page 8

Compton College presidential scholar achieves academic success

Compton College 2023 graduate Shyanne Bradley wants others to know that even in times of crisis, one can always change their circumstances. “I’m just like anyone else that is indecisive about going to school but I want to emphasize that even as a mom, attending college is possible. It’s harder, but possible,” said Bradley. Investigators arrest serial takeover robbery crew

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff ’s Department Major Crimes Bureau (MCB) learned of an armed robbery series of “7-11” stores in the cities of Compton, Carson, Lakewood, Signal Hill, Long Beach, and Los Angeles, that occurred over a three-day period. MCB investigators worked

with LASD Station detectives, Los Angeles Police Department, Long Beach Police Department and Signal Hill Police Department regarding their robbery investigations. On Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, a Carson Station deputy walked in on a robbery in progress at a “7-11” in Carson. He was able to safely detain

four subjects and recover a replica semi-automatic firearm (BB-gun) used during the robbery. On the same day, LAPD investigators served a search warrant in Los Angeles and detained two additional male juveniles involved in the robbery series. n Series, see page 3
