City of Compton announces new interim City Manager

Jerry Groomes, a veteran public administrator, will now serve the city in high ranking position

COMPTON, Calif. – The City of Compton formally made the announcement on Friday, July 14, to welcome the appointment of Jerry Groomes as the new interim City Manager. The Compton City Council voted to appoint Groomes into the temporary position on Tuesday, July 11. Groomes brings an impressive career of nearly four decades in local government and a proven track record of success to the city.

“My fellow City Council members and I are honored to welcome Jerry Groomes as the Interim City Manager of Compton. With his extensive experi- ence and proven track record in public administration, we are confident that Jerry will bring invaluable expertise and leadership to our city,” said Compton Mayor Emma Sharif. “We are happy to have him serve in this crucial role and assist us in the search for a permanent City Manager.
