ur industry is made up of an assortment of players from small family owned framing crews, to medium sized family corporations and even publicly traded corporations. Each and every corporation has their place in our industry. Diverse entities bring a specialty that is advantageous to their specific business model. Square 1 Design & Manufacture Inc. is a small family owned corporation with family values. Our staff strives to build the best equipment, provide the best service, all at a realistic margin to keep us moving forward. I often field calls asking about our relationship with Klaisler Mfg. Corp., if my last name is Klaisler, how we compare to Klaisler. Honestly, I feel sense of pride, and a sense of loss each and every time I am confronted by this circumstance.

Klaisler Mfg. Corp. was my family’s business; producing one of the first finish rollers ever used to roll steel connector plates into a truss. In 1965, my Grandfather, Elmer K. Hubbard was passed up for a promotion in Evansville, IN. Frustrated with his current situation, he 1983: Elmer Hubbard installing a new roof truss system began researching a company and an emerging market nearly 200 miles away. Eventually, selling everything his family owned, moving his wife and three children north to Indianapolis, Indiana. For decades, Klaisler filled a niche market, customizing equipment for many truss plants throughout the world. The global financial crisis was devastating to Klaisler Mfg. Corp, just like it was to many of our friends in the building components industry. In 2008, our family permanently closed Klaisler Mfg. Corp. In 2009, I continued to receive countless phone calls and emails requesting assistance for Klaisler equipment. This led to the decision to start Square 1 Design & Manufacture Inc., where we continue the tradition of specializing in custom equipment for the building components industry. We continually strive to improve our products and service, maintaining the values entrenched into me by my grandfather. Square 1 Design & Manufacture Inc. has the complete list of Klaisler Mfg. Corp. parts, manuals and equipment. In the coming months, we invite you to visit our new website complete with Klaisler parts, manuals and electrical schematics.
