Nigeria has a long history of Premier League participation. From Efan Ekoku to the most recent addition, Joe Aribo, the Super Eagles' participation in the most watched league has been one of the main reasons Nigerians anticipate the resumption of hostilities every August/September.

The Super Eagles had eight players in the Premier League the previous season, but with Watford relegating three Nigerians and Leicester City's Ademola Lookman set to leave, the current Super Eagles new players are six, reconciled with the arrivals of Taiwo Awoniyi and Joe Aribo from Union Berlin and Rangers, respectively.

Despite Southampton's defeat, Aribo made his debut with a magnificent goal, slithering through a sea of legs to unleash what can only be described as a typical Maradona or Messi shot. The midfielder arrived from UEFA Europa League finalists Rangers and will make his debut against Tottenham Hotspur.

Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest)

Awoniyi joins Nottingham Forest after a successful season with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. He is one of the Super eagles new players. Awoniyi will have to justify his club record fee of £17.5 million. Nottingham Forest's Premier League campaign kicks off against Newcastle United.

Alex Iwobi (Everton)

Last season, Iwobi helped Everton avoid relegation and has emerged as a crucial element in Frank Lampard's plans for 2022/23. He is a new player for the Super Eagles. Iwobi's two goals took some of the heat off the manager of the Toffees. They open their season against Chelsea, whom they defeated 1-0 while fighting relegation the previous season.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)

Iheanacho is an important member of Brendan Rodgers' squad despite his inability to recreate his form from the 2020/21 season, in which he scored 12 goals. Iheanacho will have an easier time obtaining playing time at Leicester City because the club has been quiet in the transfer market. His major challengers for a starting berth are Patson Daka, Ayoze Perez, and Jamie Vardy.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City)

The midfield enforcer had a disappointing 2021/22 season due to a long-term knee injury that kept him out of Leicester City's season finale as well as Nigeria's World Cup play-off against Ghana. Ndidi is likely to return to training once he has recovered. Leicester City's Premier League season kicks off against Brentford.
