ABOUT SUPER EAGLES VS GHANA MATCH
The Black Galaxies of Ghana have won a place in the Super Eagles vs. Ghana match at the 2019 Africa Nations Championship, which will be contested in Algeria. For the second time in a row, Ghana has prevented Nigeria from qualifying for a major football tournament in 2022. Nigeria's Super Eagles B had to overcome a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in Cape Coast the previous weekend.
They did so in the closing 15 minutes of the second half, scoring twice, once through Zulkilfulhammad in the 76th minute and again in added time through Chijoke Akuneto.
After winning the first leg 2-0 in Kumasi, Ghana knew a stalemate would suffice at the Moshood
Abiola Stadium. The Super Eagles B rallied with goals in the 76th and 94th minutes from Zulkifilu
Mohammed and Chijioke Akuneto, necessitating a penalty shootout that Ghana won 5-4.
Nigeria is eliminated for the second consecutive season, while Ghana returns to the CHAN after missing the previous three seasons. Ghana has now prevented Nigeria from qualifying for a major tournament twice this year.
