We are so far away from meeting our end goals but truly admire and appreciate the fellowship of our Commercial customers and friends within the industry that continue to mold the emphasis of our breeding and management decisions and continue to help guide us to our destination within the Angus Breed. We would love to have you through the cow herd located in Wrentham, AB or through the bull pen at Westway Farms Ltd. PARAMOUNT U2Q
Areference sire that is fresh and exclusive to the Red Angus industry but a pedigree that needs no introduction. Paramount 79H is one of the first SAV President sons to be used within the red angus industry which has resulted to a couple of the first RED HIDED sons sired by SAV President 6847 that will be apart of this exclusive bull calf offering in their entirety. The maternal quality within these pedigrees are second to none including females such as SAV Blackcap May 4136, U2 Anexa 333N, U2 Anexa 5F, U2 Lady 368C, and U2 Beauty 448E. When we selected Paramount as our new junior herdsire through the U2 bull sale in 2021 there was no doubt that the future footprint he would leave in our program would be extremely relevant and impactful. With the first set of Paramount progeny on test we could not be happier with the quality and unparalled feed-ability in this first set of sons and daughters. The Paramount calves are easeful at birth with an abundance of vigor and survivability and truly turn the jets on from that day forward. Watching these March born calves develop and grow on native grass throughout the summer was extremely humbling as Paramount brought us the functional performance and do-ability we have been searching for to match our unforgiving amount of average quality forages available to our cow herd within the feeding and grazing peroids of the year. The dimensional muscle pattern, bone density and foot quality on these Paramount sons and daughters are exactly what the commercial and purebred angus industry has been asking for and we are big believers that this set of sons could compliment any red angus cow herd for the inheritability of maternal and phenotypical traits provided through these proven bloodlines on both ends of the spectrum.

COW BULL
The WVR Cows are dealt no special treatment as they are managed among our 350 commercial cows prior to calving on a quarter section of limited winter grazing on native grass up until our winter feeding period beginning in December. These cows are managed on a maintenance diet built with large amounts of dry, low quality forages. Our cows are put on test similar to our bulls but in a slightly different format. We provide a LOW COST INPUT and hold our cows to a standard of LARGE OUTPUTS, as far as their self maintenance on feed and ability to reproduce pounds and quality of progeny on low quality forage. This has developed a positive and impactful culling scenario for ourselves as we let the environment and our low maintenance management decipher which individuals belong in production and which animals lose there spot on the roster.

Management Development
The first steps taken in management on the bull calves starts two months after calving. We Provide a 16% digestible forage creep feed to all calves at 2 months of age (May 1) until being put to summer pasture (June 1) where we provide no supplementation until the bulls are weaned and placed back on a TMR. The 16% creep feed consists of highly digestible fibres such as soy bean hulls and by-pass soy with a moderate grain base of ground corn and barley designed for early development of frame growth, muscle development, but most importantly development of the rumen leading up to the grazing period over the summer. This allows the rumen to quickly adapt to grass when turned out along with immunity and overall health by allowing them to intake their daily mineral and vitamin requirements during the breeding season where the cow herd is generally in an enclosed penning scenario for purposes such as AI, pen breeding and yearly embryo transfer scenarios. The bulls are weaned on the ranch and then trucked to Westway Farms Ltd where they are introduced to a high protein, high forage based TMR to enhance lean muscle development and maximize frame growth. The bulls have had more straw then an average year because silage and hay quantities are limited. The diet also contains a high quality protein supplement from Bullseye Feeds that includes a full vitamin and chelated mineral package to help boost the bulls overall health and immunity. The bulls overall diet is formulated to achieve a 3.0 lb ADG allowing the bulls to show their true potential and ensure the longevity is a primary focus on developing the bulls. The bulls feet do not get trimmed prior to the sale or in any scenario and are examined for fertility by the Didsbury Vet Clinic.

SONS SELL Lots 1-4

Afemale that has given us everything we expected and more following her purchase from the U2 Dispersal in the fall of 2019. In her first year of production at WVR this Recon Sired Female left us with our lead off bull calf of our 2022 1st annual private treaty bull sale trading for $30,000 to Cand L Weiss Ranching along with a full sibling bred heifer selling to Blairs.Ag for $16,000 through the All-Star Angus Sale this past fall at Canadian Western Agribition. Another one of those extremely valuable Reckoing 149A x Copenhagen bred females that combine so many of the traits that our rough terrain relies on for mother cows to become a consistent producer year after year. Beauty is arguably as perect footed as you can make one standing on a huge heel and square claw. She is moderate framed, open skeletoned and as soft made as they come. Her Dam 109A and Granddam 319W were extremely influential cows at U2 Ranch rasing high quality herd sires year after year. These 2 sons on offer by Paramount 79H are a great perspective of what this female has to offer. These junior herdsires are exceptional footed, massive in their muscle pattern while maintaining that desirable angus skull and haircoat we all look for. We retained 100% of the full sib females born last spring for the replacement pen and no doubt they are easily at the top of the pen as far as quality of phenotype and makeup. These 2 sons are sure to do the same for your replacement pen as the consistency runs deep.

2063 is is the real rancher type. Long made in his spine and balanced from rear to front. Here is a bull that will put the pounds on your calves come weaning time with his

and frame size. The heifers he will leave In the replacement pen will be of the utmost quality going back to the Six Mile Ranch donor who has had an abundance of success in reproducing quality females. A dark hided bull that will work for many.

Here lies a Heifer Bull That will fix feet and udders all day long. Don’t let his late birth date fool you as this strongbow son has done an exceptional job after getting weaned extremely early. His sire had as good of feet as we have come by it showed in all of the strongbow sired bulls we sold in 2023. This future herd sires Grand dam was one of the first cows we purchased from Brylor ranch, a WRAZ bred female with exceptional feet and udder quality and his dam is a spitting image of her. This bull will be a sleeper in this set of bulls but will not fall short in the quality he produces! Recommended for Heifers
