CHARITY STEER 2025

DONATION GOING TO CREIGHTON LODGE

WHAT?

DK Land & Cattle have raised and graciously donated a steer to our club to be sold to benefit the Creighton Lodge Kitchen Expansion Project. “Kirk” is a fluffy, red, well-mannered boy who enjoyed meeting the club.

WHY?

There is no better way to instill the core values we, as a club, uphold than to give back to the community that raises and supports us. We intend to contribute our time, talents and funds to valuable projects and organizations, this year and in the future.

Creighton Lodge is owned by the R.M. of Estevan, R.M. of Cymri, R.M. of Coalfields, R.M. of Benson, and R.M. of Cambria, with support from the City of Estevan, and is full of our family, neighbours and people just like us. This facility is growing and updating to ensure it is around for generations to come. We believe the kitchen expansion project is one worth supporting to continue to meet the needs of the facility and the community.

WHO?

It could be you! Please come out to our steer sale to bid on or purchase this steer in support of our fundraising efforts.

PURCHASING BEEF

FROM OUR PRAIRIE PRIME MEMBERS

SUPPORT OUR LOCAL YOUTH BY FILLING YOUR FREEZER

Purchasing beef from our local junior stock club is a great way to fill your freezer with high-quality, locally raised meat while also supporting youth in your community. These young producers work hard to raise and care for their animals, learning responsibility, agriculture, and business skills along the way. By buying from them, you’re not only ensuring your family enjoys delicious, farm-fresh beef, but you’re also investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders. It’s a win-win for your table and your town.

Not only does purchasing beef from a junior stock club support local youth, but it also often results in better-tasting meat at a lower cost than what you’d find at the grocery store. Locally raised beef is typically fresher, with animals fed and cared for with attention to quality. The result is tender, flavorful meat that you can taste the difference in. Plus, buying in bulk—such as a quarter, half, or whole animal—can significantly reduce the price per pound, making it a cost-effective option for families looking to stock their freezer with nutritious, delicious beef.

The kids in the junior stock club are incredibly grateful to everyone who supports them by purchasing beef. Your investment means more than just a sale—it represents encouragement, recognition, and belief in their hard work and future. Many of these young producers take time to personally thank their buyers, often writing notes or visiting in person to show their appreciation. Your support not only fills your freezer but also fills these kids with pride and motivation to continue learning and growing in agriculture.

OUR MENTORS

COLTEN BROKENSHIRE

Born in Estevan, SK and raised on a farm SE of Estevan where he showed cattle with his brother and sister at various livestock junior shows throughout Western Canada. He has a home in Estevan with his wife, Katie, and daughter Brielle, who was born last summer.

Colten and Katie operate Roch Springs Show Cattle - a multi-breed seed stock operation where they sell show heifers in the fall, and bulls every spring. Colten is looking forward to being a mentor for Prairie Prime Junior Stock Club.

COOPER BROKENSHIRE

Born in Estevan Saskatchewan, Cooper was raised on a farm SE of Estevan. Along with his brother Colten and sister Casie, the Brokenshire siblings have shown cattle throughout Saskatchewan and Western Canada.

Cooper and his Fiancé Cassidi Elder and son Briggs, born in December, own and operate BRKY Livestock. BRKY Livestock is a multi-breed cattle operation based out of Estevan and Coronach Saskatchewan. BRKY produces elite females to sell in Tableland Cattle and Roch Spring Show Cattle’s Annual Sale each fall. Cooper has been a part of junior livestock programs throughout his life and is looking forward to being a mentor for the Prairie Prime Junior Stock Club.

TESS BROKENSHIRE

I run 50 head of commercial cows along side my dad’s herd west of Estevan. I graduated from Olds College in the Agriculture Management program in 2020 with a production major. I have enjoyed growing up in the agriculture industry and showing cattle during my junior years. Now, attending fall shows and working for producers has helped educate me in many different ways whether it be general knowledge of the vast breeds or little tips and tricks along the way. Learning from different producers and what makes their operations tick has always been of interest to me!

JUSTIN VANDEWOESTYNE

Justin & Nicole VanDeWoestyne & Family own and operate Vandy Cattle near Benson, SK. Vandy Cattle is a seedstock operation specializing in Maine-Anjou, Angus, and Simmental genetics where they market their bulls annually in March, and heifers in October. Justin & Nicole both grew up in Youth Livestock Programs and look forward to the future of the Prairie Prime Stock Club.

RILEY & MADISON LAFRENTZ

Riley and Madison alongside Vern and Denise own & operate Wheatland Cattle Company near Bienfait. The operation consists of 350 purebred Simmental & Angus cows. Each spring they hold an annual bull sale selling bulls to commercial & seedstock producers. Madison also has her own graphic design & photography business called Compass Creative. Over the years we have shown a lot of cattle and have enjoyed the friendships and memories made along the way. We look forward to working with the kids in the Praire Prime Club.
