n behalf of my family here at Compass Ranch we would like to welcome you to our annual bull sale. This is a family run operation where everyone involved plays an important roll in our program. We have an exciting group of bulls on offer this year with the mentality of “ if I wouldn’t buy them for myself they are not listed in this sale”. I think the bulls are very consistent from top to bottom and are a great representation of the cattle we strive to produce. There is performance orientated bulls along with calving ease bulls that are all similar in phenotype. They are fed with longevity in mind. We will winter the bulls for free until April 1st then commence in contacting the buyer for best possible times for delivery. We believe in sound cattle from the ground up, maternal values such as great udders and most of all efficiency in our cowherd. Our cows are not pampered and must retain a good body condition score throughout the year. Our bulls must follow that same program and are built for the cowboy and cattlemen in mind. Sires represented are selected on a strict criteria. They must be stout, easy fleshing, sound footed, structurally correct and have an excellent dam behind them. Docility is a must as well. The bulls will be available for viewing at the Cochrane Ranch until December 2nd and at the Medicine Hat Ranch after that. Compass Sold Out 120L is a standout in this years bull pen and a personal favourite. You will appreciate his herd bull character, overall balance and completeness of structure. He’s stout, good boned, deep bodied and travels like a cat. His dam 155H was a must have purchase from the Poplar Meadows bred heifer sale in 2021 for $11,000. She is phenotypically stunning with a perfect udder and excellent feet. She will be utilized in our embryo program for years to come. Like Pendleton Whiskey in Oregon- lot 5 has positioned himself as synonymous with all things cowboy. He’s a bull that all cowboys will find. He’s smooth made, big topped, stout, great haired and quiet as all get out. Like his flush mates he also walks on a great set of feet and legs. This is the third ET bull in the sale sired by BC Robust. He displays all the consistant traits that are in this flush and desired in todays cattle. He is great footed, correct made and quiet. His recip dam died in the middle of summer so shows less performance than his flush mates but like a fine bourbon Makers Mark 117L will only get better with time. Very good calving ease bull here that has done most of his growing on his own.

Tibbs 11J was a $44,000 high seller for us in 2021 to great friends and cattlemen Brian And Tracy Kimmel of Twisted Sister Cattle. Best Answer 111L is one of my favourite calving ease bulls in the sale offering that offers added performance. He boasts an actual birth weight of 78 lbs to an oct 10 weight of 1010 lbs. His two year dam has an excellent udder structure and did an excellent job while maintaining her condition. She will be one to watch in the future as far as the donor pen. His sire was a top seller in 2021 which I purchased a semen pack on to utilize the legendary SAV Final Answer genetics. Really good bull here that will offer a lot of potential.

This is our lead off black hided/red gene carrier bull. He’s as cool as you can make one! Super clean fronted, smooth shouldered and built like a truck after that. Covenant walks on a super sound structure with excellent scrotal development. His dam is a moderate framed cow that brings in a calf in the fall as big as she is. She averages 77 lbs on all her bull calves born to date. We have retained every daughter out of her as well. If you want to incorporate some “Showman” genetics in to your Red Angus herd then this is the bull for you! This is another black/red gene carrier bull with lots of growth and stretch to him. He’s stout, deep made and performance oriented. He boasts a 92 lb birth weight to a 1050lbs oct 10 weight to result in a 3.85 lb wpda. His dam 706E is tanky, has excellent feet and udder. She stems back to a bull I sold back in the early 2000’s- Compass Kargo 83K, his dam was also a black/red gene carrier. I feel by injecting some different genetics in the the Red Angus gene pool has had very positive results to move the breed forward in the industry.
