Welcome

FROM

CANADIAN RED ANGUS PROMOTION SOCIETY

Welcome to the 53rd Annual Canadian Red Roundup Sale. In 1973, the founders of the Canadian Red Angus Promotion Society had the vision to promote the Red Angus cattle by hosting their first sale. We thank them for their forward thinking and dedication to this breed. Since that time decades of proven Red Angus genetics have been marketed through this prestigious sale.

53 years later, the CRAPS board is going strong promoting Red Angus cattle across Canada. Many families through the generations have sold, bought, and attended this outstanding top-notch event. Red Angus breeders bring only their very best cattle for the large crowds at Red Roundup to view their breeding programs. The Red Roundup sale cattle have worked extremely well in the industry, and many lifetime friendships have been made.

The board of directors have worked hard to put on the CRAPS EVENT with the RED ROUNDUP SALE. This year along with the Red Roundup Sale is a Bull Show, Junior Events and our Annual Fundraising event.

Special thanks to the Anchor 1 Angus of Mayerthorpe for supplying the Donation Heifer in 2025. Your support to the Red Angus is much appreciated.

Last year, was the 1st year of the Regional Red Angus Heifer program for Junior members across Canada to create enthusiasm in our breed. As the numbers of Red Angus cattle being exhibited at the Junior Shows and major fall shows had increased this shows the enthusiasm in Red Angus cattle.

A Promotional video and Pull Up Banners were created this year on the Red Angus cattle, which were extremely well accepted and a great tool.

In 2024 the Red Angus breed excelled with the Supreme Champion Bull at Agribition and Farm Fair, and record prices for Red Angus Bulls in the Spring. It is an exciting time to be in the Beef industry with record prices. The Red Angus Females and Bulls are assets to many breeding programs both purebred and commercial.

Special thanks to the board of directors of CRAPS who have volunteered their time and team effort for the betterment of this Society. Thanks to Jodi Robertson Wildman for all her dedicated effort as administrator over the past 2 years. Thanks to OBI and our dedicated Sale crew for conducting a professional Auction sale day. We are always looking for new members to our Red Angus family, so please take time and go to www.redangus.ca to become a member. The opportunities are endless with Red Angus cattle. We invite you to come out to Olds, Alberta and experience Red Roundup 2025!!

Welcome

OBI LIVESTOCK LTD. FROM

Welcome to the 53rd Annual Canadian Red Round-Up Sale. The Red Angus breed is gaining steam across the world. Many bull sales had their best ones with many herdsires brought for a lot of funds. We are battling with all other breeds and holding our own. Be proud Red Angus breeders. The cattle industry is at all time high and the genetics we must showcase is getting noticed by all. Supreme Agribition & Farmfair Bull Champion was Red Wilbar Hennessy 3K, a feat to be proud of as a breed.

The last week in preparing this catalog to you all has been very rewarding as the emails from consignors are coming with the anticipation for this year’s prestigious Red Round- Up Sale. Many miles were travelled to select the offering, enjoying every visit and going through tremendous cow herds, having a lot of laughs and the negotiations with the consignors to obtain the best they have to bring to town and they sure did.

The sale offering consists of a Great herdbull, Donow Cow, bred heifers and heifer calves with semen from tremendous bulls and embryos from top donor cows across the land. These opportunities to gain these genetics does not happen often, so please do take advantage of the frozen section of the catalog. The live lots have females that can take your program to the next level. Many junior heifer calf projects are available as well. We also have a lot of new consignors to the sale, so please do go meet them and treat them with the Red Round-Up Hospitality.

The donation heifer comes from the great program at Anchor 1 Angus and what a female she is. Thanks to Kyle and family for this generous donation. I would also like to thank the countless hours the CRAPS board of directors have donated their time to and making decisions to enhance the Red Angus breed. It is a pleasure to deal with folks that want the same result as the manager does. An event that is simple with having the best quality of Red Angus Cattle on display. New this year will be the Bull Futurity, which you can showcase your product to all. The great Junior Show will also be happening on sale day. A big day on Sunday December 7 will be had for the breed, an event you will not want to miss.

Many personal thanks go to Madison Sibbald for the Catalog, Buck Thompson for being the Barn Boss at Olds, Roger Peters for his guidance for this event, Lois McRae for her continuous enthusiasm for this event and the many things she is doing for the sale, Jodi Robertson Wildman for being the secretary of CRAPS , Mike Zoller and Jay Sibblad (Red Round-Up Co-Chairs) and all of the CRAPS board members that with everyone working hard to promote the 53rd Annual Red Round-Up Event.

My team and I know the offering very well, so if you can’t make it to the sale, please do not hesitate to call and discuss the very strong offering. Please do come to The Red Round-Up Sale this year so I can visit with you in person, and you can evaluate the fabulous offering.

Red Round Up for us will always be known as the sale where endless friends and memories are made. Anchor 1 Angus is honoured and beyond excited to provide this year’s donation heifer. Red Anchor 1 Freyja 7N is from one of our favorite cow families. Her young dam is red hot right now, raising a sale bull for our program, and 2 Red Round Up guests, in just 3 attempts. She is currently carrying a mating to Red Wilbar Hennessy 3K, the pinnacle of a special semen package that we acquired at this very sale, just last year.

Like all of our fellow breeders our main focus is to keep improving our beloved and always thriving Red Angus breed. On behalf of Anchor 1 Angus we would like to thank all of the past and current consignors for your friendship and for the outstanding females that you continue to offer at this prestigious sale each and every year. We would also like to give a big round of applause to the sales management team, the board of directors and CRAPS, you all do an amazing job of promoting these outstanding, breed leading females, and the Red Angus breed as a whole.

I honestly don’t know where to begin writing a footnote on a bull like Kujo. Have we lost our mind offering this powerful herdsire at such a young age? Maybe…. We have used Kujo heavily since he was a yearling that this is the only way that we would be willing to part with him. He has done everything that we had expected from him and much more. Kujo is a powerful and well-balanced herdsire with an impeccable foot and sound structure. His early success in the show ring as a calf has carried through to the breeding pasture, consistently siring stout, eye catching progeny with depth, shape, and presence. As a bull calf Kujo had a very impressive fall, as this is where we had first taken note of him. He was Champion Senior bull calf at Stockade, Farmfair, and Agribition. He was champion King of the Ring champion and Reserve Champion Red Angus Bull at stockade and was crowned Reserve Champion Red Angus Show Bull of the Year. We have had 73 progeny born at our place in the last two years from Kujo and have averaged 86lbs for birth weight. From an early age you can pick out the Kujo calves for their depth of body, muscle mass, bone structure, stout made, and passing on his dark square foot to his progeny. I feel that Kujo is going to sire the type of cattle that are going to make a lasting impact on the breed for many years to come and can excel a program to a new level with the progeny that he is leaving behind. As Ty had written in his sale footnotes as a yearling bull “We feel Kujo is so unique and special because not often do you see a bull with this kind of power that is so soft made, free moving, and extremely athletic.” We feel this still rings true to describe Kujo to this day and have seen it firsthand each year as he walks the pastures covering large groups of cows. Co-Owned with Goad Family Angus & Redrich Farms.

Selling 100% interest and possession. No semen has ever been sold on Kujo. Goad and Redrich are retaining in-herd semen only to use going forward in their own herds.

Lakima 407E is a female that is as proven and predictable a female that we have ever offered for sale! She is a direct daughter of Indeed and her dam was one of the top 5 cows to ever walk the pastures at Towaw. Her full sister, Red Towaw Lakima 76M, is a donor cow for Wild Cat Creek in Kansas, and produced until she was 19 years of age. 407E’s daughter, Red Towaw Lakima 411G, is a donor cow as well, and is a structurally sound and great uddered front pasture cow. She in turn has raised a son that is working at Smoky River Red Angus and her 2025 daughter is in our show string. Another daughter Red Towaw Lakima 408J has a son working in the Heart of the Valley herd and has a very exciting Baldridge Badger son in this year’s bull pen. 407E was flushed last September and produced 16 #1 embryos and bred back on her first cycle. She was flushed again this September and will be flushed once more in early November. Sells open and ready to flush.

Aradath is a powerful, big topped and stoutbuilt female with Performance in mind. If you’re looking for big time performing calves, she’s the kind to get it done. Her dam 8144F is a big-barreled beast of a cow that produces top end calves year after year. We can’t say enough good things about Allison Design bull! He has left us with an incredible stand out group of easy fleshing replacement heifers with tremendous foot quality! With the udder quality and structure of his dam we are sure excited to see his first females milk this spring. Bred to the PIRO Momentum 310L another son off our 922G cow that produced our high selling bull this year that went to Reverce GC Angus.

Lot 6

Red Wheel Pride 2M is a brood cow superstar in the making. She possesses the depth and rib shape we have come to expect from our Good Time Charlie daughters. Her dam, Pride 20J was a feature lot in the 2023 Red Roundup selling to Combest Red Angus. We are fortunate that Lynn has left this female with us to manage for him. We absolutely love our Stark daughters and Pride 20J is a great example why. She has a great udder, is sensibly sized, easy fleshing, fertile and raise great calves. The service sire Red Allison Prestige 114M was the high seller in the 2025 Allison Farms bull sale at $97,500 to ourselves and Canadian Sires. He is a dark red, good footed, calving ease sire that doesn’t sacrifice performance. Consigned with Combest Red Angus.

Red Wheel Annie Oakley 54M is from a royal flush of outstanding genetics. She is a full sister to our resident herd sire Red Bar MM Convoy 127K, and several stellar cows in our herd and at Bar MM. One sister, Red Wheel Annie Oakley 22K, was the high selling female in our 2023 female sale to MCF Cattle Co and went on to be named Reserve Champion Two-Year Old Female at the 2024 Agribition. Annie Oakley 54M is destined to follow in their footsteps. Annie Oakley 8B has been one of the most dominant donor females in North America, and is the signature female of our donor arsenal. Her accolades have become too long to mention them all, but take advantage of this opportunity to own a direct daughter while you can. The mating to Red Allison Prestige 114M will add another layer of sound made, good footed, dark red genetics that will be extremely marketable.

CONSIGNED BY WHEELER’S

Red SSF Scotts Ms Atlas 3M is a beautifully attractive made female. Femininity, combined with superior foot and udder structure. Sired by Red WFL Merlin 018A. Merlin calves are born light but exhibit excellent performance with impressive depth of body and overall thickness. He has been our go-to calving ease sire for several years. Our Merlin sired calves have been very popular and have sold extremely well in our bull sale, including our featured son in our 2024 bull sale commanding $31,000 to U2 Quality Seedstock. Our Merlin daughters are now in production displaying beautiful udders with lots of femininity and eye appeal. 3M’s dam, 306E is an 8-year old never miss cow, selling her bull calves in the front end of our bull sale every single time. Lots of performance & longevity in this bloodline. Possibly the most exciting part of this feature lot, is her service to Red Wilbar Beretta 859M. He was the record setting highest selling Red Angus bull in Canada for $225,000. Semen has traded in excess of $1000/unit.

Red SSF Scotts Ms Atlas 15M is an absolute powerhouse female ready to raise herd bulls or pasture leading females! 15M is a high performing heifer who is super long and big bodied, combined with a beautiful dark cherry red hair coat! We really like the maternal look of this female. Sired by Red Lwnbrg Slowburn 102H, an outstanding herd bull in terms of phenotype and performance. Slowburn has excellent foot and leg structure and his calves display lots of length of body, natural muscle shape and presence. Slowburn genetics have captured the attention of many astute Red Angus breeders across the country. SSF 15M carries on Slowburn’s huge barrel and outstanding feet quality. Slowburn daughters are becoming cornerstones of our herd and 15M will be no exception. Preg checked safe to her AI date to Red BB Propulsion 9096. Propulsion is one of the top proven performance AI sires in the breed today known for his excellent combination of growth and muscle shape. Leah 403M is a deep bodied, good hearted, very correct female that should make a great brood cow. While our herd is steeped in a tradition of using a lot of our own genetics, this female traces directly to a purchased flush, two exclusive semen packages, and bred to a bull that was an exclusive semen purchase as well. While touring the Miller Wilson Angus herd we found an Indeed daughter that really caught our attention due to her power coupled with great feet and udder structure. When we found out she was a Leah cow tracing back to the dominant cow family from Glesbar we negotiated a flush on her. Granite was a logical choice to flush her to and we got a great group of calves, including the $12,500 heifer calf in the 2023 RRUP. PIE Captain semen was purchased from our friends in Minnesota, Jacobsen’s Red Angus, and he did a great job of siring low birth, good growth and very eye appealing cattle. She is bred early to the Red CER Moon Pie bull that Triple L procured this spring. This might be as an exciting genetic package that you will find all fall and seeing her in person in Olds in December will back it up! Entered in Farmfair.

What better to offer in the 53rd Red Roundup than a daughter of a past roundup purchase! We purchased Red Shilo Gracious 24G in 2019 and she’s been nothing short of impressive. She is easy keeping and trouble free with an awesome disposition. The Red Wilbar Crackerjack 73F daughters are a group of females we are excited to watch develop as each and every one of them carry tremendous fleshing ability and powerful foot quality. Crackerjack is backed by generations of fertility and longevity. BCC Gracious 407 is bred to the smooth yet powerful and now deceased BCC Hardrock 463 which is bound to lead to a potent purple mating. Any chance you get to combine a powerful and elegant red female with a Black Angus breed legend like Coleman Rock 7200 it’s something to get excited about!

They are the bull producers of our business and Duchess 13M has that greatness & style for a front pasture cow. She’s standing on typical Slowburn feet and legs, ideal in structure, and angles you need to get your eyes on this bred heifer to appreciate her properly. Judge daughters, they’ve been popular here with everyone who sees them. We have offered quite a few of them now, and there’s quite a few in our herd beginning to hit their prime years and without a doubt I can tell you they are all maternally excellent, low input, high value building females. They walk around on solid feet, and the udders are always top notch, neat, and tidy. The Lassies around here are our work horse cows. They consistently raise calves in the top end of the yearling pens and today they likely make up close to a third of our herd. Note that this M heifer, has a Z mother, and an S grandmother. Meaning these three cows nearly made it all the way through the letter system. Longevity is proven in this heifers line you can expect 457M to produce for you for a long time. She’s got a bit more size and frame which she gets from 210Z and if she got her other attributes as well then, she is guaranteed to make a positive impact wherever she goes.

Syringa 419M is an absolute powerhouse with a stacked pedigree, one to take a look at. A huge chest floor, massive top, and built right from the ground up. Her foot and heel structure are impeccable, she’s balanced, feminine, carries natural muscle deep into her quarter, and her growth curve is explosive. She rose to the top early, posting a 128 yearling ratio and 71 lb birth weight, our definition of a true curvebender. Her pedigree is equally exciting! Sired by a homeraised Musgrave Stunner son who commanded attention at our bull sale, her sire Kraken is out of a herd-favourite dam who was an Allison Red Angus embryo we purchased, from the influential GBCC 42W cow we regretted not owning after the Glesbar Dispersal. Syringa 419M’s dam is a SAV One Nation daughter with a flawless udder and foot, one we’re proud to build around. Bred to Cockburn Continental a bull who helped our herd grow in a great way. An exceptional spread, a great disposition, and the kind of foot structure we demand. His calves are super consistent, with small birth weights and lots of growth. As an added bonus they are hairy and quiet as can be. A red heifer backed by elite black genetics — phenotype, pedigree, and real-world numbers. A hard one to let go but seemed right for our first trip to RRUP.

We have been so pleased with the females that RED MAR MAC DM JOURNEY 60J has produced for us . RED RACK MS DIVIDEND 26M is a perfect example of how impacting JOURNEY has been for us at RACK. MS DIVIDEND is moderate made, big middled, attractive headed with an easy doing look to her. She stands on very correct feet and has a nicely developing udder, all traits we all strive to achieve as breeders. Her Fine Line dam MS DIVIDEND 15E has been a no miss cow here at RACK and her progeny has been sought after both by purebred and commercial breeders. We strongly feel DIVIDEND 26M will be a great addition to any herd.

We are proud to present Red Kopper LC Lika 60M as our first consignment to RRUP. While this marks our debut at the sale, it comes after nearly 25 years of focused selection on red genetics. Lika 60M is a standout example of our breeding philosophy; moderate in frame, easy fleshing, and wide topped, with excellent structure and a classic pattern. She also carries a strong dark red hair coat, true to our program’s identity. Her dam, Lika 60G, was selected as a calf from Lauron Red Angus through the Chinook Sale. She quickly became a cornerstone female in our herd, known for her docility, structural integrity, and her ability to raise consistent, marketable calves. She also brings a solid +28 Milk EPD, ensuring maternal strength as well as built in Calving Ease. There’s no guesswork in 60M’s pedigree. Her lineage is rich in proven, foundational genetics, from great programs. Her sire Derby was known for adding length, pounds, and longevity to his progeny, traits that carry forward in 60M. This heifer sells parent verified.

372M a deep, easy-fleshing Kujo daughter showing the kind of power, rib shape, and wedgebuilt design that makes efficient, productive cows. The Reba cow family is one that has been very productive for not only us but making a statement in other purebred herds. We have gone back to the tank and are implanting embryos of the very original Reba cow that started this strong cow family for us. 372M is a heifer that is designed for fertility, longevity, and function. Favorable to the AI mating of the elite sire Red SSS High Mark 272D who we used selectively on powerful heifers backed by strong cow families. This combination of 372M and the old school 272D is one that has us excited to see the ROI for the new owner.

PLC 449N is a fancy little heifer with a ton of hair. Her Dam is one that we appreciate for her pretty udder, maternal qualities and has done a fantastic job on her first calf. We have always liked the “Goldie” females and they consistently find themselves in the replacement pen every fall. We have some phenomenal daughters like these from her Sire Red Duralta 43 Fortress 82H. We appreciate the consistency in the females that he puts on the ground. She was found easily at the Northern Select Tour we hosted this summer.

He is a Red RReds Copper son that is dark cherry red out of one of their best cow families, the Leah’s from Glesbar. Maternal strength here at its best.

Lakima 526N is the natural calf of our first homeraised donor cow XLR 705E. 526N would be much harder to part with if we didn’t have two full ET sisters kept back here on the ranch. When Mark toured the herd, this was the one he picked and it’s hard to say no when Mark circles one. She is the kind of balanced breeding piece we work to make more of - plenty of capacity, a clean and tidy front end, and loads of natural muscle. Her structure is excellent, a great foot, correct build, and an easy, effortless movement, all backed by a great temperament. Her dam 705E, is a real matriarch here and has been our top female for the last eight years, posting a 105 weaning index and 108 yearling index across all her progeny. 705E consistently adds strong real-world growth and is one we’re very proud of. We are fired up about this Fortress mating, a cross built to lock in foot quality, extra shape and style. This one has the look.

He is incredibly big hipped and blends it together with base width, top and a big soft middle. He stands of a perfect dark foot and gets around with ease.
