MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. ( 1929-1968) One of the world's best-known advocates of nonviolent social chance. King was a civil rights leader. He let the march on August 28th, 1963 that attracted more than 250,000 protestors to Washington D.C. There, he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" oration. During the year following the march. Kings renown as a nonviolent leader grey, and in 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1968, Kings birthday, January 15th, became a federal holiday celebrated the third Monday in January.
