4 Great Days Out - Commitment To Excellence

Per Ardua ad Astra: adversity to the stars In this issue of Community Update, we are delighted to select East Grinstead Museum with our Commitment to Excellence Award. East Grinstead in West Sussex is still affectionately known as “The Town That Didn’t Stare.” During the Battle of Britain in 1940, many RAF fighter pilots sustained horrific burn injuries and received pioneering care from the consultant plastic surgeon: Sir Archibald McIndoe in East Grinstead. The pilots and later RAF bomber command members named themselves, ‘‘The Guinea Pig Club,’’ due to the experimental nature of Sir Archibald’s techniques.

There is a Research Room, filled with local historical information available for public use during opening times and a well-stocked shop selling cards, books and children’s items. Activities for children are held in school holidays, and the museum encourages group visits from local organisations. Our iguanodon footprint is always popular with visiting children.” Entrance to the museum is free and the opening times are: WednesdaySaturday 10am-4pm. T: 01342 302233 info@eastgrinsteadmuseum.org.uk www.eastgrinsteadmuseum.org.uk

Such was the success of the treatments, that some pilots even returned to full flying duty and the heroic surgeon was quick to ask the local town to accept the remaining wounded patients. The town did exactly that, embracing the airmen of the Guinea Pig Club, and becoming known as “The Town That Didn’t Stare.” The East Grinstead Museum opened its moving ‘Rebuilding Bodies and Soul’ exhibition in 2016, in memory of Sir Archibald McIndoe and the Guinea Pig Club. The exhibition pays poignant homage to these brave airmen, casualties from aerial combats and air raids, through the eyes of the patients and medical staff involved. We spoke to Jonathan Parrett: Museum Manager to find out more, “East Grinstead Museum is located in the heart of the historic High Street, on the site of the former agricultural and livestock market. The Museum showcases the development of East Grinstead from its early foundation in the 1100s, as a new town founded by a descendant of a follower of William the Conqueror to the modern day. There are displays on the town’s local industries, which include pottery and iron working, and on the many shops and other activities which were based in the town Our permanent display about Archibald McIndoe and the Guinea Pig Club remains a huge draw for proud local people and visitors from around the UK. The exhibition regularly attracts historians, retired and serving RAF airmen and engineers, through to schoolchildren and families. We offer a range of activities from guided tours of the High Street, as well as a series of monthly talks on a variety of local subjects in the evenings. These talks are offered both within the museum, and online.

WELCOME TO LAMPORT HALL GARDENS a story worth telling A Tudor founder, blind book collector, wayward 17th century grand tourist, eccentric Victorian, Hollywood actor, commanding wives and dedicated daughters – Lamport is full of characters. As home to the Isham family for over four centuries, the fortunes, interests and trials of each generation have left their mark.

The Hall is set in approximately 10 acres of tranquil gardens, the result of over 450 years of love and dedication, enclosed by a spacious park. Although their size and location are the same as when they were first laid out, their design has been strongly influenced by the interests and tastes of successive owners.

roses or striking blue Cornflowers, particular flowers give weddings a beautiful vintage or bohemian look.

In Autumn, the misty mornings and the ombré-effect of the red, yellow and orange leaves on the resident Oak, Beech and Hornbeam create stunning wedding photos. The earlier ‘golden hour’ allows wedding photographers to create beautiful photographs, with the matching red and golden light tones. Have you ever considered a romantic winter wedding? Imagine the magical reflection of the snow, across the manicured golf course fairways, matching the winter faux fur bolero and the special wedding kiss sealed under the festive mistletoe.

The golf course at Fynn Valley Terrace is particularly popular with wedding couples, providing hours of fun for hen or stag parties or can even be enjoyed as the first part of a honeymoon for golf-mad couples! It’s important to stress though, that you don’t need to be a golf club member to get married at the venue. Award-winning Fynn Valley Terrace is nestled in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, in Witnesham near Ipswich, surrounded by green, rural rolling fields and jaw-dropping panoramic views of the golf course. The venue holds licences for indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies, with wedding packages centred around the Oak Room, Acorn Room and outdoor terrace. We spoke to Charlie Eaves: Events Manager Extraordinaire to find out more,

We had a cosy chat with Colleen to find out what brides can expect on wedding days, “I offer a fully-bespoke service where clients can contact me for individual quotes makeup/hair/beauty services for weddings. For weddings, I provide trials well in advance of the big day, services on the wedding/celebration morning, as well as beauty treatments in the lead up to the event. I cater for large groups as well as elopement services for just the bride herself. Expert safe asbestos removal In this issue of Community Update, we are delighted to select Richardson Crofts with our Commitment to Excellence Award. Asbestos was commonly used to insulate buildings, boilers, pipes, floor tiles and car brakes in the past, with asbestos cement also used for roofing sheets and pipes. Amphiboles (brown/blue asbestos) and Serpentine (white asbestos) were banned unequivocally by the UK Government in 1985 and 1999 respectively on serious health grounds: breathing in damaged asbestos can cause asbestosis, which can in most causes lead to cancer. The removal of asbestos is subject to strict HSE licences and as a heavily regulated industry, it is essential to use only trusted asbestos removal specialists to safeguard human health at all times.

and his team set up a COVID-cleaning company and a separate gardening business. The hardworking team were even featured on the popular ITV series: Love Your Garden with national treasure and veteran gardener: Alan Titchmarsh. “We kept busy during COVID- it was important to keep my team motivated and focused. We are grafters and work hard across all our endeavours. If you’re looking to get some asbestos removed, give us a ring- we’d be happy to offer your home or business a full consultation,” added Stephen For more information, see the website below: T 07904 773331

Richardson Crofts is a family-run business, with over 38 years’ trusted experience in expert asbestos removal across industrial, commercial and domestic settings. Under the guidance of Managing Director: Stephen Crofts, the team carry out asbestos removal across the UK and Ireland for statutory organisations and charities such as: NHS, Leicester and Derby University, National Trust, English Heritage, MOD, as well as domestic settings. We spoke to Stephen to find out more about this long-running company, “Richardson Crofts was reformed in December 2022 by my wife and I following on from Croft originally set up by my father; it is still very much a family-run business. Unfortunately, my grandfather and uncles were all involved in asbestos pipe lagging way before the carcinogenic features were discovered and suffered the health problems associated. With our own tragic family history with asbestos, we know all too well the damage it can do to people’s health. We worked as Croft in a fully-licenced capacity, and now still complying with all the meticulous HSE regulations, including keeping long-term health records on all my employees, using the right vacuum cleaners and safety equipment. We offer a full on-site consultation and our quote is a fixed-price, with no hidden costs added later. Demolition workers and builders in particular, are at more risk of asbestosis, working with older buildings and roof tiles. In addition to safe asbestos removal, we also offer toxic pigeon guano removal from roof settings, paving the way for safer working conditions for our construction colleagues in the industry.” During the COVID-19 pandemic, Stephen

Louise Claridge: The power of Reiki The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei and Ki which translates to spiritually guided life force energy. It is based on the premise that an invisible life force energy flows through all of us. Our energy levels can bring harmony or illness. The wondrous aspect of Reiki is that is not ‘taught’ to practitioners in a traditional sense but is passed on through a series of ‘attunements’ from a Reiki Master. Louise Claridge is a holistic healer, life coach and NLP-practitioner based in Bromsgrove and is now a Reiki Master herself,

“Becoming a Reiki Master has been a personal journey of mine since 2021, when I first met my Reiki Master and I have since felt heightened senses and joy, when offering in-person Reiki and Distance healing Reiki to my clients. During Distance Healing Reiki sessions for example, client relax in their own home, whilst I am engaged in the healing process. I do not contact the client during the session, only afterwards in an email to explain my findings. Even over a distance, I can sense energies and ailments.” Louise is in the process of setting up workshops with companies, colleges and universities, as part of a holistic package of treatments. Many organisations struggle with high turnovers of staff, high staff absenteeism and low morale, impacting on productivity and staff wellbeing. Through a series of targeted workshops and 1:1 work, Louise is hoping to identify blockages to workplace harmony such as bullying or miscommunication and support these companies towards a more balanced, healthy atmosphere, as she outlines, “As a holistic healer, I’m looking forward to working with workplace groups and utilising my innate toolkit from life coach sessions, to Reiki Master to bring a renewed harmonious workplace energy.

One of my main focuses is encouraging a ‘present moment’ mindset, which is a great antidote against our AmazonPrime societal philosophy. This is equally beneficial for university students, balancing living away from home, with exam pressures and college staff, navigating curriculum expectations with the unprecedented levels of the mental health crisis levels in teaching currently,” explained Louise. With her own background in the hospital nursing sector, Louise is well aware of the rising stress levels evident across many public sector and private institutions. As the cost-of-living crisis rages on, many adults and young people are already struggling with stressful workplace or college demands, leaving many people feeling anxious or burnout. “The positive aspect is that mental health is no longer confined to the shadows: everyone is talking about how they feel, from celebrities, to politicians and football players. It is not a taboo subject anymore, which is positive for this generation of children- we are normalising anxiety or imposter syndrome for example. With this in mind, I am looking for volunteers to come and talk on my podcast about their own lived experience from grief, redundancy, miscarriage, divorce, to the daily stresses of family life. It’s important to hear ordinary people talking candidly about difficult life experiences. I hope that the people listening will find it supportive and empowering to hear others talk,” added Louise. There are many whys and wherefores for modern-day anxiety, stress and depression but practitioners like Louise are providing a safe place for healing and recovery. “Some of my Reiki clients come weekly, others monthly, it is all about individual needs. Since lockdown lifted, more clients are coming back face-to-face, which is great for me as a healer because I can sense body language and energy flows in the room. However, for some clients this is not possible and I am happy to work remotely, even long-distance with some clients through Zoom or via the phone. I can offer a wide range of treatments

and classes, from crystal healing, sound bathing and hypnotherapy classes, in addition to Reiki, life coaching and NLPpractitioner work. Each client presents with differing ailments, from deep-seated trauma to positional muscle aches from homeworking, it is a huge spectrum and some of my clients are long-term. Recovery rates vary from person-to-person and it is about the individual, not a prescriptive way of working. Crystal healing and Reiki work wonders with insomnia and generalised anxiety levels, also supporting aliments like IBS or tension headaches. Life coaching is ideal for anyone facing a cross roads, be it a relationship or work or wanting to change their mindset around health and wellbeing.” Sound bathing is becoming increasingly popular with groups across the country. It is a deeply meditative experience, induced by ‘bathing’ in sound waves. The waves can be from a variety of instruments such as chimes, gongs or tuning forks. Many people experience increased harmony

from a group sound bathing session, even bordering on enhancing inner visionary senses. It is akin to a kind of sound acupuncture, substituting sound frequency and vibrations for needles. “I am having a Zen Den installed in my garden this month, which will be the perfect place to welcome my sound bathing, reiki and life coach clients. My garden extends out onto some woods and a brook, it is an idyllic spot for sound healing,” concluded Louise. Swim in the magical mermaid realm who can swim independently for 25 metres, demonstrate front and back sculling and have the body power to control the mermaid fin. There are three Academy levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced and Each participant receives a certificate of achievement once they have completed each level. If you’re looking for a memorable party, why not consider a mermaid-themed party

In this issue of Community Update, we are delighted to select Mermaid Life with our Commitment to Excellence Award.

“The parties last up to 75 minutes and once all participants have warmed up and got used to the tails and fins, we take them through a series of mermaid skill and swim exercises, play some fun games and take some videos

and pictures. I then put a commemorative memory video together of the special day and send it on after a process of expert editing, which usually takes four weeks. The parties are again aimed at confident swimmers aged 6 years+ but we do run 45-minute water-based parties for non-swimmers aged 3-8 years old. These parties are ‘meet the mermaid’ in style and they have a mermaid (usually myself) as an entertainer in the pool, parents/ guardians are required to be in the pool, so that the children have a safer swimming environment.” added Tammy. Both the classic 1989 Disney The Little Mermaid and the 2023 live-action remake films are popular with Disney fans around the world, young and old alike. In the original cartoon version, Ariel is the free-spirited redhead and Disney fans particularly love her rebellious nature. Growing up with these films, has left many of us dreaming of swimming with a mermaid tail. Well, now you can courtesy of Mermaid Life: a magical mermaid and aqua man swimming company in Rugby, Warwickshire. Mermaid Life is run by experienced swimming instructor: Tammy, who welcomes children and adults to swim like a mermaid or aqua man in a swimming pool. We spoke to Tammy, on dry land about what makes mermaid swimming so special, “I started the Mermaid Life business in July 2019, after working as a swimming teacher for over 20 years. Normal ‘human swimming’ can get boring after a while and who honestly hasn’t always dreamed of being a real-life mermaid? -especially when you have grown up watching The Little Mermaid film. We use a monofin and a tail over the top of it, to give the appearance of a real mermaid tail. We can only accept confident swimmers, as it requires body power to control the fin.” Tammy runs an Academy Course for interested swimmers: which can be a block booking of four to eight weeks, dependent on the term length, with lessons of one hour per week or swimmers can attend on a fortnightly basis. Swimmers are taken through all the basic skills, both in ‘human’ and ‘mermaid’ form. The course is designed for swimmers aged 6 years+

Personalised, quality tuition service their peers. In private tuition the lesson is focussed around their understanding. We can quickly gauge progress and difficulties and adapt to create strategies and find new ways to explain things so our students can be successful. Private tutoring can enable a struggling student to catch up on core principals or project a bright student to the highest levels. Commonly tuition in one subject can have a positive knock-on effect in other areas, as puzzle solving and reasoning skills develop.”

In this issue of Community Update, we are delighted to select Perfect Plus Tutoring for our Commitment to Excellence Award. With primary school KS2 SATs, GCSE and A-level exams on the horizon, some parents are now looking for extra personalised support for their child’s learning. The average classroom size across primary and secondary schools is 26.7 children, according to GOV.UK and it is easy for pupils to get behind with key learning objectives. With COVID-19 curriculum catch-up funding still in place this year, many children from disadvantaged backgrounds are still eligible for support to keep learning on track. Private tuition has multiple advantages from confidence-building, focused visuallearning aids, exam technique, subjectspecific support, through to expertise with dyslexia, dyscalculia and working memory. Often in busy, loud classrooms, children and teenagers may struggle to ask for support and then with fast-paced lessons, some feel left behind. Perfect Plus Tutoring supports primary, secondary and post-16 pupils across the North Kent, Medway, Maidstone and Bexley areas, with all aspects of learning, from reluctant primary school readers, through to targeted sessions on GCSE and A-level subjects. Established by experienced ex-teacher: Nicole King the service has expanded to include a well-rounded team of teachers to support pupils. We spoke to founder, Nicole to find out more about what Perfect Plus Tutoring can offer pupils and their families, “Private tutoring gives students the opportunity to focus on the areas they most need support with at their own pace. By building a comfortable relationship with our students, we create a safe environment for them to ask questions and to reinforce lessons where necessary. In large classes, many pupils are left behind because they don’t want to appear to be struggling or too keen in front of

Perfect Plus Tutoring adopts a bespoke teaching approach to each child or small group, through face-to-face tuition or online support. In addition, there are small classes run on Saturday mornings and summer holidays, with a maximum number of six pupils focussed on 11+ preparation- developing Maths, English and reasoning skills, with some further support offered in schools and colleges in the Medway area. With access to cutting-edge technology such as whiteboard learning and video calls, the teachers engage with pupils in a dynamic and purposeful manner.

is huge, with raised attainments, increased focus and concentration and in some cases, a new found love and pride in some subjects! The Perfect Plus Tutoring team have created a weekly publication of parental feedback from parents on the company Facebook page, with an additional Revu subscription, which automatically shares reviews posted by parents of our students, “I would highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a tutor, my son went from strength to strength in English and definitely benefited from Nicole’s excellent tutoring. She is kind, patient and supportive and gave our son some excellent tips for his GCSE English exams.” - Mother of GCSE Student We asked Nicole how it felt to receive our Commitment to Excellence award, “Providing a high-quality service that has a positive impact is what drives us forward, so to be recognised for our high standards and “commitment to excellence” is extremely rewarding. We are proud of the work of each of our tutors, and the relationships forged with students and parents, that have made this achievement

One area that often requires extra support is special education needs, where despite extra classroom support, some pupils need external support to keep up with mainstream learning. “Some of our tutors have actually worked in SEND schools and all have training for dealing with SEND in the course of their teaching experience. We have a number of pupils that have diagnoses in autism, ADHD, dyslexia and anxiety, just to name a few. We review all reports and information provided to help us address the learner’s unique needs, whether that is modifying the learning environment to address sensory stimulation or by using activities that play to the student’s strengths to gently work on their weaker areas with compassion. communication is essential and ultimately our approach for SEND and non-SEND students is the same... get to know the individual and work with them in a flexible and considerate manner. We get to know the person rather than focusing on labels,” explained Nicole.

Oakbank celebrates a decade of success. Oakbank Products Ltd is an Edinburgh based supplier of Premier Bottle Sealing Wax, used to dip prestigious Scottish whisky bottles as well as seals and cartouches. The whisky brands include master single-malt rarities such as: a 50-year-old Glenfiddich, The Macallan in Lalique and The Ardbeg. With an extensive VIP-list of international clients, the wax is now supplied across Europe, South America, The Indian Ocean, and the Caribbean, ensuring a mark of brand authenticity. Whilst the company’s heritage and expertise are primarily in the drinks industry, other sectors such as perfumeries and artisan food customers have also been supplied. The initial development of a new, more durable sealing wax started in 2009 by Thomas Corbett and Ian Cuthbertson. The enterprising duo wanted to create a wax that wouldn’t crack or crumble after application. By 2012, the business had started to blossom, with a growing list of new clients and with the arrival of Pauline Corbett to handle finances, the company was firmly established in 2013. We spoke to General Manager: Bill

Corbett to find out a bit more about this thriving family-owned business, “We still believe that our product is the premier bottle sealing wax in the market due to the hand-crafted attention we provide. We feel that artisanry, quality and the distinctive touch are the reasons we are the choice of the distillery’s’ biggest brands. Bottle sealing wax adds a prestigious and exclusive look to a product. It can be hand dipped and hand stamped with the company logo, crest, or other information. This results in an aesthetically pleasing final product. Depending on colour choice, our wax can add a warm, rustic, traditional look to a bottle, or a modern, sleek look with the inclusion of pearlescent or metallic colours. From 2014 onwards, the business really started to flourish, taking on valuable clients including Glenmorangie, Sipsmith, Edrington and Chivas Brothers.

Oakbank has built extensive relationships within the whisky industry over the years and are now looking to branch out into the rum and gin markets. We have made the bottle sealing wax more accessible to larger production runs, as opposed to short runs and limited editions. Looking ahead to the future, we are working with our suppliers to increase the sustainability of waxes we use, through reducing/eliminating the levels of paraffin. We are focused on carbon offsetting by planting trees/sponsoring beehives and have switched to a ‘green’ energy supplier, using 60% wind and 40% solar power.” For more information, see the website below: https://www.oakbankproducts. com/

A decade of success however has not been without its challenges. Sadly, both Ian and Pauline passed away during this time, but Thomas maintained the Oakbank family ethos by bringing his brother Bill and son Ian into the business.

The family-friendly pub has been owned by Sharon and Martin Harris for the last five and a half years, “We took over and then COVID hit, but in hindsight, it gave us a chance to really take stock. We renovated our outside garden, transforming it into a fully-fledged beer garden, with 40 tables, bar area, stage, allotment and four honeybee hives for honey.

Looking even further ahead, we are busy designing our Al Fresco kitchen for the beer garden, which will serve delicious street food, nachos and sharing dishes,” concluded Sharon. alk to any foodie about the biggest cooking trends of the past few years, and they will no doubt mention BBQ smoking. The appetite for smoked food – anything from ribs to cheese – shows no sign of slowing and Sheffield-based manufacturer Trianco is looking to capitalise on this, selling under the guise of its BBQ brand, Grizzly Oven. “It’s taken over a year to develop the Grizzly range,” explains Peter Beighton, Managing Director of Trianco. “A lot of people are building outdoor kitchens and there has been a big push towards smoking food for long periods. You can leave these charcoal ovens to cook low and slow overnight or you can use the grill as normal and cook at 250-350 degrees.” The domestic Grizzly Oven Cubster is available in three contemporary colours and can be

G mounted on a counter or on the Grizzly custom-made stand which is also complemented by the Grizzly range of outdoor kitchen units with granite worktops. The Grizzly Commercial Oven comes in stainless steel in either a counter top or freestanding model and is great for the commercial Pub/Restaurant market. All models can be flued if required. olden Grove Nursery was founded in 1975. Since then, a thriving business has grown and over the last 40 years this family run business has developed its expertise, now growing over 200 varieties. The nursery extends to 26 acres. 95% of the conifers on the nursery are propagated by the team at Golden Grove, either by cuttings or grafts and are nurtured for 2 to 5 years before being sold. Plant care is a top priority on the nursery and each variety is trimmed and spaced where necessary to ensure that it grows to its full potential in its natural shape. The business continues to develop new varieties, each carefully selected to suit the urban garden

and patio planting, securing the role of the conifer in the modern garden. With years of experience under their belts, the team at Golden Grove have built up a comprehensive range of quality conifers so that whatever the size of garden there is always a conifer suitable for bringing structure and focus to it. Glee: Refueling garden retail

Johnsons Lawn Seed

T

hey say absence makes the heart grow fonder and this certainly felt like an accurate sentiment at Glee last week, when the garden retail sector was finally able to reunite after a two-year hiatus. Millions of new British gardeners have made the past two years, even with all its many challenges, a period of tremendous growth and innovation for the industry and Glee is the most important launch platform, where suppliers can bring new products to market and engage with the retail trade. Featuring over 300 brands, 125 of which were brand new to the show this year, the longanticipated return of Glee as an in-person event was positively received from all corners of the retail sector: from traditional garden centres, DIY Stores and farm shops to high street retailers, department stores, builders' merchants and thriving e-commerce sites. As the first occasion since 2019, when so many gardening brands and retailers could meet face to face under one roof, it wasn't surprising that Glee opened its doors on Tuesday, September 14th 2021 to a large and eager crowd, who helped create “the busiest start to Glee

G ever” for many exhibitors. The show provided an essential hub for educational business content and future trends; also hosting a number of prestigious industry award ceremonies to celebrate the best of garden centre retailing and the most innovative and exciting new products launched over the past 24 months. Glee returns to Birmingham’s NEC this year from 28-30 June 2022. This is our pick of the best exhibitors from last year’s event, listed here in alphabetical order: Anglo Peruvian Trading, Golden Grove Nursery, Johnsons Lawn Seed & Trianco. Further details can be found on this page.

lee 2021 saw Johnsons Lawn Seed, the UK’s oldest seed range, unveil a new look with their lawn seed range. In the UK there is a growing trend in the use of smart phones and apps for everyday tasks. Gardening and lawn maintenance are no exception. The new look retains the recognisable Johnsons branding and colour schemes while incorporating two QR codes. On the front ‘How to choose your lawn seed’ helps guide customers to make the right choice. On the back ‘Hints and tips’ details useful advice on ground preparation and how to sow.

with gardening and, despite the unprecedented COVID-19 turbulence that has shaken garden retail this season, the industry now stands in a prime position to capture a new generation of consumers. A recent survey by LV General Insurance claimed that 74% of people said they had changed the way they used their garden during lockdown, pointing to an increase in outdoor space for relaxation and entertaining. Lawns are the focal point of outdoor living and consumers now demand superior, natural products that are child and pet safe. For stocklists, please go to: www.johnsonslawnseed. com

Retailers from across the UK, including Harrods, Anthropologie, Dunelm, Walt Disney Company, B&Q, Oliver Bonas, Fenwick, Boohoo, Blue Diamond Garden Centres, Bloom & Wild, British Garden Centres, Daylesford Organic, Fortnum & Mason, Graham & Green, Tesco, Hobbycraft, La Redoute, Lakeland, Next, Paperchase, Pets at Home, and Sainsbury’s, flocked in their thousands to attend the first major retail trade show since lockdown in March

2020. The desire to refresh their stock levels, inject newness and discover exciting new products for their stores, and experience product in person, created a very confident mood and many exhibiting suppliers secured record numbers and quality of orders. Creativity, innovation, inspiration, and inventiveness were in abundance throughout the four key show destinations: Home, Gift, Fashion and Design & Source. Overall, feedback from exhibitors has centred on the amount of pent-up demand there is for face-toface trading again. Spring Fair and Moda take place from 6-9 February 2022 at the NEC, visit: www.

Green brands from Gimme-4

imme-4 is an independent agency that has chosen to develop brands here in the UK that are, green, good for the planet, with a point of difference. We showed some of our brands at the Autumn Fair in September and had a fantastic response. Hydro Herbs Our self-grow Hydro Herb kit is a chance to grow herbs of your choice indoors without the need for soil. Our kits take approximately six weeks to mature after which you can harvest some and they grow back and can last for around 18-24 months. Giving you great-tasting herbs, whenever you need them. Every component in the kit is either recycled, recyclable or entirely biodegradable, it’s really designed with the environment in mind — ideal for the current times. Niwa Terrariums NIWA (meaning ‘garden’ in Japanese) was established in 2016, and makes its way from Paris, France. Each terrarium is handcrafted, with delicate care over their poetic choice of plant, moss, soil and rock. With an award-winning background in aquascaping, it is the execution in landscape design and precise glassware that sets the NIWA range apart.

A Terrariums are designed to thrive within their self-sufficient ecosystems, presenting nature in its stillest state, calm and beautiful — while requiring very little maintenance. LoveLilly

L

oveLilly is a small but growing business supplying greetings cards to gift shops, post offices and boutiques. Our cards feature beautiful, quirky, and unique artwork by our talented artist Lilly Wells. We insist on using high quality board and envelopes, as well as biodegradable cellophane to keep our cards in pristine condition. In 2017 in a bid to help her mental health, Lilly wanted a therapeutic hobby. She hadn’t painted since completing her GCSE art in 2011, but decided to pick up a paintbrush and try watercolour art. She discovered a natural gift! While walking our dogs together, myself (Lilly’s mum) and my friend chatted

about Lilly’s newfound talent. Wanting to promote Lilly’s artwork while also establishing a small business, we decided to print cards to sell at local craft fairs. This was a huge success – and so LoveLilly was born. We now stock numerous shops with a range of over 70 cards, all featuring Lilly’s unique art. We would love to add your business to our list of stockists. We deal with every enquiry personally and pride ourselves on offering exceptional customer service. Please have a look at our website to see our stunning range of cards. Sign up for a trade account to see trade prices and to place an order. Alison Tate 07780 873736
