Mini Camp Descriptions Advanced Robotics (LEGO® Mindstorms) Ignite student engagement and energize learning through reallife problem solving with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 hands-on, minds-on approach! Students work in pairs and start by building a rover bot. Then they add sensors and learn how to program the robots using LEGO Mindstorms software. Food and Art A little baking and lots of creating! With a little pinch of baking and a heaping cup full of inspiration, chefs will take cookies, Jello, fruit, and other foods and turn them into their own edible masterpieces! HI-NRG Ninja and Tumbling

Students can learn all about horses and their care from the newest Little Medical School horse program. The first two lessons include adopting and naming a plush horse. Other practical information includes a brief overview of horses, the ideal horse farm, and many other basics. Lessons 3 and 4 deal with the anatomy and maintenance of a horse. The maintenance lesson includes bridling, saddling, brushing, feeding, exercising, and shoeing. Lesson 5 is about the two types of riding, Western and English. Finally, graduation includes careers involving horses and student presentations. Students will enjoy a graduation ceremony celebrating their accomplishments. Little Medical School

HI-NRG’s positive, enthusiastic coaches offer camp for boys and girls who enjoy tumbling, climbing, and fun new challenges. Campers will have a blast learning fundamentals of tumbling (handstands, cartwheels, etc.). Children will learn new skills in this class which fosters confidence, joy, and pride. Our specialized ninja obstacles are a fun, engaging way to cultivate coordination, balance, upper body strength, and core stability. Students will be proud of their results in this exciting program! Scrapbooking Learn how to save important moments and memories in artsy ways by scrapbooking! In this class, we’ll teach you the basic skills you’ll need to create your first scrapbook. Using real photos and stickers, you will learn about scrapbooking tools, basic layout skills, and creating themes of your memories. Skateboarding Camp Build and design your own skateboard! We’ll spend a week sawing, filing, sanding, and designing our own professional-style skateboard decks using wood from Santa Cruz skateboard company! Tumbling If you want to learn the basics of tumbling, this class is for you! Students will learn forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and backbends, as well as other skills that introduce tumbling basics. Amanda Hazelwood

Under the Sea Art and More Join us for an exploration of art Under the Sea! We’ll read books with an ocean theme and draw and paint a variety of creatures found under and near the sea, including dolphins, sharks, and other fish, and maybe a mermaid or two! There will also be time for walks along Community School’s trails looking for things that remind us of sea creatures! It will be an ocean of artistic fun! Video Game Design The ability to code is a key component of Video Game Design. This camp will teach students important strategies to enhance their logic and problemsolving skills, as well as help them work toward becoming technological innovators of tomorrow. Wilderness Medicine School In Wilderness Medicine School, students will role-play the key responsibilities of an emergency medic and learn how to handle emergencies in the wilderness. These future emergency medics will learn about snake bites, hypothermia, water safety, tourniquets, broken bones, mosquitoes, and 20 ways to use a bandana. Students will enjoy a graduation ceremony celebrating their accomplishments. Little Medical School

PLAY CAMP

June 7-11, June 14-18, June 21-25, June 28-July 2 | Full-day $395/week | Half-day $205/week Children ages 3, 4 and 5 will build, splash, play, create, and dance their way through five one-week sessions of Summer Play Camp. Campers will delight in daily indoor and outdoor activities – including water and sand play! Experienced early childhood teachers and staff from Community School will direct the camp. Campers must have had their third birthday by July 1, 2021, and be potty-trained. Full-day campers should bring a non-refrigerated nut-free lunch. Please note that campers may be dropped off as late as 9:00 a.m. or picked up as early as 3:00 p.m. FULL-DAY Camp runs from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. daily; a.m. & p.m. snacks are provided. $395 per week HALF-DAY Camp runs from 7:30 a.m. – Noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily; snacks are provided. $205 per week

June 14-July 23 | JK - 8th grades

June 14 – 18, 9am – 12pm (JK and SK, $205 per camper) Fractured Fairytales: What happens when Cinderella wears cement shoes to the ball? Or Goldilocks meets the three frogs? Campers will have oodles of fun building essential acting skills, creating crafts/props, and putting on a culminating mini performance through hilarious versions of beloved fairy tales. June 21 – July 2, 1pm – 4pm (Grades 1-4, $410 per camper) Rainbow Fish/Little Mermaid: Campers will have a swimmingly fun time whether they put together a production of the infamous story of “The Rainbow Fish” or sing, dance, and act to the Broadway Production of “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” Campers will have so much fun learning the fine art of theatre through essential acting skills, set and costume design, as well as putting together a culminating performance for family and friends whether it be virtual or in-person. July 12 – 23, 9am – 4pm (Grades 5-8, $820 per camper) Not So Grimm/Into The Woods: Be careful what you wish for...Campers will help a fairytale come to life with favorite characters such as: Cinderella, Prince Charming or the Charming Prince, Little Red Riding Hood, The Big Bad Wolf, Jack (and his mother and the beanstalk), the Baker and his Wife, the Witch, and more! Campers will enjoy a magical, satirical, and lyrically-rich time retelling the classic Brothers Grimm fables whether they perform “Not So Grimm Tales” or “Into the Woods, Jr.” virtually or inperson for family and friends.

FUNdamentals

August 2-6 & August 9-13 | JK - 6th grades | One week $355 or both $650 Sign up for one or both weeks of FUNdamentals! Fight the summer slump with FUNdamentals. Customized for each age group, this will get your child back in the swing before school starts! All ages will experience sports, French, art, and recess, as well as differentiated academics—all taught by experienced Community School faculty and staff. Camp runs from 9:00 - 3:00 daily. One week of camp costs $355 or sign up for both at $650. JK & SK - Get ready. Get set. It’s time for school! Younger students will get familiar with school routines before the first day of school. By using favorite children’s books, thematic activities will support school readiness skills such as listening, following directions, and organization, as well as math, reading, and writing. 1st & 2nd - Brush up on valuable skills and learn the importance of school routines. Listening to stories and reading in small groups will increase comprehension and reading fluency. Fun number games focusing on number sense and computation will help review, reinforce, and develop math skills. 3rd & 4th - Third and fourth graders will develop strong critical thinking skills while reading fiction and non-fiction pieces, focusing on determining the main idea, using context clues to develop vocabulary, and summarizing the key concepts of the text. In math, through interactive lessons and games, campers will focus on the concepts of number sense, computation, geometry, and fractions. 5th & 6th - Prepare for success! Fifth and sixth grade students will review math and reading skills through interactive games and fun activities. They will learn different strategies to develop and enhance study skills, including organization and time management. The students will culminate their camp experience with a service learning project. Through critical thinking activities, leadership skills will be enhanced to prepare fifth and sixth graders for the school year.

WHAT DO I BRING?

Snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon. If staying all day, pack a non-refrigerated peanut-free lunch. Please bring a water bottle and mask. Please wear tennis shoes.

WHAT ARE YOUR COVID-19 POLICIES?

All employees and students are required to wear masks and to complete a brief daily health check prior to their arrival at camp. Participants will wash their hands regularly and practice social distancing per school guidelines.

Cancellation/Refunds

Registration is due by Monday, May 17, 2021. There will be a $25 late fee for registrations after this date. There are NO refunds given for cancellations after May 17 due to change in vacation schedules, conflicting activities, or change in plans. If a camp is canceled due to Covid-19, fees will be refunded on a per diem basis. If a student receives a positive Covid-19 test, they will receive a refund on a per diem basis and be required to present a negative Covid-19 test before returning to camp. QUESTIONS?
