With the presence of President Luis Abinader, Casa de Campo announces the start of the expansion of its renowned hotel. The investment exceeds US$90 million, as part of a development project that will be carried out in several phases and that will generate over 500 jobs between construction and operations. The expansion will include the construction of 64 new luxury rooms, a spa, as well as a new lounge for visitors.

This year we welcomed Christmas in the magical village of Altos de Chavón, with the lighting of the great Christmas tree and the many rooftops and cottages of Chavón in a grand ceremony with fireworks and a concert, thus beginning a series of Christmas activities. This event has become a tradition that unites the Casa de Campo family becoming a beacon of hope for a brighter better new year. The lighting ceremony took place at the Amphitheater and was live-streamed via all of Casa de Campo’s and Altos de Chavón’s social media channels.

Este año dimos la bienvenida a la Navidad en el pueblo mágico de Altos de Chavón, con el encendido del gran árbol de Navidad y las numerosas azoteas y cabañas de Chavón en una gran ceremonia con fuegos artificiales y un concierto, iniciando así una serie de actividades y atracciones navideñas. Este evento se ha convertido en una tradición que une a la familia de Casa de Campo convirtiéndose en un faro de esperanza para un año nuevo mejor y más brillante. La ceremonia de iluminación se llevó a cabo en el Anfiteatro y se transmitió en vivo a través de todos los canales de redes sociales de Casa de Campo y Altos de Chavón.

Who would have thought that a cup of coffee and a few snacks shared between three ladies, would soon become one of the most active and popular fundraising activities in Casa de Campo La Romana?

The now well-known charity event, the “Café de la Leche” for the Hogar del Niño, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a wonderful gathering at Voalá Café Marché hosted by Gabriella Reginato. ¿Quién hubiera pensado que una taza de café y unos bocadillos compartidos entre tres amigas pronto se convertiría en una de las actividades de recaudación de fondos más activas y populares en Casa de Campo La Romana? El ahora conocido evento benéfico, el “Café de la Leche” para el Hogar del Niño, celebró este año su 20 aniversario con una maravillosa reunión en Voalá Café Marché organizado por Gabriella Reginato.

The concert was carried out as a combined live and virtual modality that was broadcast live all over the world and it was a huge success!

Polo matches are a sure-fire way to spruce up your routine, as many Casa de Campo community members and fans can attest. This season we saw excellent, fast, and downright close matches that had us on the edge of our seats. The Polo Friendship Cup 2021 finals dedicated to Dr. José López ended with the La Potranca team winning (made up of Tony Rivera, Bijai Singh, Mario Villegas and Julian Diaz), against the Mcdonalds-La Espada team (made up of Ramón Andrés Brenes, Mauricio Bogaert, Enrique Bonetti and Eriberto Constanza).

Los partidos de polo son una forma excelente de cambiar su rutina, como muchos miembros de la comunidad de Casa de Campo y fanáticos pueden atestiguar. Esta temporada vimos partidos excelentes, rápidos y francamente reñidos que nos dejaron al borde de nuestros asientos. PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS OVER THE AGE OF 65 EXENCIÓN DEL IMPUESTO AL PATRIMONIO INMOBILIARIO (IPI) PARA MAYORES DE 65 AÑOS

In the Dominican Republic, individual-owned real estate properties are taxed with a 1% property tax on the value of the property as assessed by the tax authorities. This tax is known as Impuesto al Patrimonio Inmobiliario, commonly referred to by its abbreviation IPI, and was established by Law 188-88 of February 5, 1988, as amended by Law No. 253-12 of November 9, 2012.

This tax is payable annually in two installments, the first one no later than March 11th and the second one no later than September 11th.

THE DOMINICAN INTERNAL REVENUE AGENCY (DGII) USES THE FOLLOWING METHODS FOR REASSESSING PROPERTIES VALUES:

a) Prices indicated on sales contracts filed for Real Estate Transfer Tax payment purposes; or, b) Values established by the National Land Registry Office database, which, according to Law 150-14, is the only competent institution to value real estate properties and their improvements in the Dominican Republic.

CURRENTLY, OWNERS OF VILLAS OR PLOTS IN CASA DE CAMPO, REGISTERED UNDER THEIR PERSONAL NAMES, CAN BENEFIT FROM THREE MAIN EXEMPTIONS FROM THIS TAX:

a) The first exemption is automatic and benefits all individuals which hold real estate in their personal name, and consists of an exemption from the payment of the 1% property tax on the first RD$8,138,353.26 of the total value of all the properties registered in their name. b) The second consists of an exemption on 50% of their real estate taxes if the homeowners have obtained their Dominican residency under Law No. 171-07 on Special Incentives to Retirees and Fixed-Income earners of foreign source. c) The third exemption, and the most attractive one for members of the Casa de Campo community, whether they are Dominicans or foreigners, regardless of their immigration status, consists of a 100% exemption from the annual property tax due to simply having reached 65 years of age.

THOSE INTERESTED IN BENEFITING FROM THIS EXEMPTION MUST MAKE A FORMAL REQUEST TO THE DGII AND COMPLY WITH MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, WHICH ARE DESCRIBED BELOW: A. That the property is registered to the person’s individual name and that its owners have reached the age of sixty-five (65) years.

Como ya es sabido, en la República Dominicana las propiedades inmobiliarias de personas físicas están gravadas con un Impuesto al Patrimonio Inmobiliario (IPI) del 1% sobre su avaluó fiscal, conforme lo establecido por la Ley 188-88 del 5 de febrero de 1988, modificada por la Ley No. 253-12 del 9 de noviembre de 2012.

Dicho impuesto es pagadero anualmente en dos cuotas, debiendo la primera ser pagada a más tardar el 11 de marzo, mientras que la segunda debe pagarse a más tardar el 11 de septiembre.

LA DIRECCIÓN GENERAL DE IMPUESTOS INTERNOS (DGII) UTILIZA COMO PARÁMETRO DE VALORACIÓN DE LOS INMUEBLES:

a) los contratos de compraventa depositados para fines de pago del Impuesto a la Transferencia Inmobiliaria; o, b) la base de datos de la Dirección Nacional de Catastro, la cual, conforme la ley 150-14, es la única institución competente para valorar los inmuebles y sus mejoras en la República Dominicana.

ACTUALMENTE, LOS PROPIETARIOS DE VILLAS O SOLARES A NOMBRE PERSONAL EN CASA DE CAMPO SE PUEDEN BENEFICIAR DE TRES EXENCIONES PRINCIPALES SOBRE ESTE IMPUESTO:

a. La primera exención, la cual es automática y beneficia a todas las personas físicas, consiste en la exención del pago de este 1% sobre los primeros RD$8,138,353.26 del monto global de avalúo del conjunto de inmuebles que una persona física pueda tener registrado a su nombre personal; b. La segunda, consiste en una exención del 50% de los impuestos de propiedad inmobiliaria a la que pueden acceder aquellas personas pensionadas o rentistas que obtengan su residencia bajo el amparo de la Ley No. 171-07 sobre Incentivos Especiales a los Pensionados y Rentistas de fuente extranjera. c. La tercera exención, y la más atractiva para los integrantes de la comunidad de Casa de Campo, sean estos dominicanos o extranjeros sin importar su estado migratorio, consiste en una exención del 100% del IPI anual por el solo hecho de haber cumplido los 65 años de edad.

LOS INTERESADOS EN BENEFICIARSE DE ESTA EXENCIÓN DEBEN DE REALIZAR UNA SOLICITUD FORMAL ANTE LA DGII Y CUMPLIR CON REQUISITOS MÍNIMOS, LOS CUALES DESCRIBIMOS A CONTINUACIÓN:

A. Que la propiedad esté registrada a nombre personal y que su(s) propietario(s) haya(n) cumplido los sesenta y cinco (65) años de edad.

B. Que la propiedad constituya el único patrimonio inmobiliario de este en la República Dominicana. En el caso de que la persona propietaria esté casada, su

B. That the property constitutes the only real estate held by the owner in the Dominican Republic; if married, the registered spouse must also meet the same requirements.

C. That the property in question is used solely as a personal home and is not rented to third parties.

D. That the applicants are up to date with their tax obligations.

This 100% total exemption from the real estate tax, although available for decades in various forms, has generated recent interest within the tax community and homeowners in highend residential projects such as Casa given the significant property reassessment increases performed during 2020 and 2021 on most of the villas in this community under Tax Amnesty Law 46-20.

Esta exención total del impuesto inmobiliario, aunque disponible en diversas variantes desde hace décadas, ha generado reciente interés dentro de la comunidad impositiva y la de propietarios en proyectos de alto nivel como Casa, dado los significativos aumentos de valoración a los que han sido sometidas las mayorías de las villas en esta comunidad, al acogerse a la Ley 46-20 sobre Revalorización Patrimonial.

We urge Casa owners to contact their tax advisors to evaluate their specific cases and confirm the possibility of opting for this exemption, given the significant annual tax savings that it could represent.

Casa de Campo celebrated the fall season with a weekend of great activities for all the family! During the weekend, villa owners, residents, and guests visited the “Petting Zoo”, enjoyed a movie under the stars, participated in tennis clinics, brunched at SBG relaxed at Minitas Beach, whilst the little ones participated in a Beach Olympics. ¡Casa de Campo celebró la temporada de otoño con un fin de semana de excelentes actividades para toda la familia!

ARTISTS IN CASA EXHIBITION

The Altos de Chavón Gallery hosted its first exhibition in over a year with a group of wonderful artists, all part of the Casa de Campo community. “Artists in Casa” is a collaboration between Ada Rivera, Amércia Olivo, Claudia Messina, Florence Wiriath, Mary Rosa Jímenez, Rocio Jimenez, and Olivette Santoni where each one contributes a selection of pieces to create a truly unique and unusually varied exhibit.

A popular and glamorous fundraising event, the Fundación MIR Family Day for Life has become an anticipated tradition.

The event brought together villa owners, residents, and visitors, who enjoyed a circuit of activities that started at La Romana Country Club with the tennis clinic followed by the traditional golf tournament and finished with an elegant dance awards ceremony at Minitas Beach Club.

This year Susana Joa has been deemed the #1 champion with Teresa Merli and Gricelle Lahoz coming in 2nd Place and 3rd Place respectively. ¡El Día de Acción de Gracias no está completo sin un poco de pavo! TEDxLaRomana is an event organized by Carlos Miranda Levy and co-organized by Xiomara Menéndez Dajer. We got together with them to learn more about the theme of this year’s event FLOW AND ABUNDANCE: Life as Movement and Shared Prosperity and the speakers that took part in this year’s event.

WHY FLOW? “Beyond resilience and normality, beyond adapting and recovering, there is flow. Flow requires mindfulness and mindfulness comes from focus in the here and now as a single step part of the long walk, our lives are made of.

And so we move, forward, sideways, sometimes a little backward, often even on split paths, but we move; for life is movement,” Carlos explains.

WHY ABUNDANCE? Carlos continued to explain, “Abundance is often associated with the notion that there is plenty for everyone.

TEDxLaRomana The first TEDxLaRomana ever took place at the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater on October 23, 2021, and brought together a select group of world-class changemakers including our very own Gilles Gagnon and Dr. José López, as well as the PBO’s Maker Kids, fair fashion ambassador Marina Spadafora, marine biologist Rita Sellers, Chavonera visual artist Tania Marmolejo Andersson, actress and producer Nashla Bogaert, Director and Producer Tuto Guerrero, world class tap dancer Andrew Nemr, and many more who shared their unique stories, experiences, and ideas worth spreading all under the theme of the event.

Certainly, one of the Dominican Republic’s most upscale marinas, La Marina, as it’s known by locals, is close to a multitude of scenic sea destinations such as Catalina island, Saona island, and Palmilla, a natural swimming pool, as well as waters ripe for sport fishing which has granted them an appearance in the annual Billfish Report since 2013.

Opened in 2001, the Marina Casa de Campo marked a turning point in the development of both yachting and fishing activities in the eastern region of the country. The project was so successful that just a year later, an expansion of the Marina was approved and the wave breaker was cut and a second stage was constructed taking the project from 183 moorings to a total of 350 docks and capable of receiving ships from 30 to 250 feet in length.

The high quality of service, excellent facilities, and ease of access at the Marina Casa de Campo have all contributed to its success. This prestigious project is a dream come true, conceived by Italian architect Gianfranco Fini on his first visit to Casa de Campo after receiving an invitation from his friend Pierro Giacosa in 1989. Fini fell in love with the country and resort and presented his vision to Alfonso “Alfy” Fanjul, President of the Board of Directors Central Romana Corporation, in a fortuitous meeting aboard a river cruise boat up the Chavón River.

The Latin American Amateur Championship (LAAC) will return to Casa de Campo Resort & Villas for its seventh edition, which will take place from January 20-23, 2022, in the world renown golf course Teeth of the Dog. Founded by the Masters Tournament, The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA), LAAC was created to further develop amateur golf throughout the region, specifically in South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Each year, the LAAC champion receives an invitation to compete in the Masters Tournament at Augusta National. In addition, the winner and the player or players who finish in second place enter directly into the final qualifying stages to enter The Open and the U.S. Open Championship.

El Campeonato Latinoamericano de Aficionados (LAAC) regresará a Casa de Campo Resort & Villas para su séptima edición, que se llevará a cabo del 20 al 23 de enero de 2022, en el mundialmente reconocido campo de golf Teeth of the Dog.
