In 1938, the company’s articles of incorporation were formally amended and the company was renamed Meier’s Wine Cellars Inc. In 1941, land was purchased on North Bass Island (Isle St. George) in Lake Erie and most the company’s grape

needs were met from those vineyards. Over the next 35 years, the company continued to prosper, extending their winemak-

If a floor is water soaked, Jackson says fans can be used to dry it out, and then they use sanding to try and restore the floor to a new beauty. If it can’t be saved, the company will replace the floor, and some of the

“We don’t do structural problems, where the basic structure needs repair,” said Jackson. “But most of the cosmetic damage we can repair or replace.”

Tips for protecting your pet during the holidays Well, it is time for the fun holiday season.

Thanksgiving, with all the wonderful food more than any dog could possibly imagine, is just around the corner.

Sometimes those visiting want to feed the canine members of the family, so they goodheartedly share the bounty.

I think it is important, howev-

er, to remember that dogs’ stomachs are different than our stomachs and usually the food we eat at Thanksgiving is inappropriate for them.

It can cause intestinal upset, which usually means diarrhea and sometimes vomiting, which you will have to clean up.

A little turkey might be OK but please no dressing or cran-

berry sauce.

Christmas brings different possibilities such as ripping open boxes and eating wrapping paper and cardboard.

Don’t forget the tree ornaments as they are very tempting tasty toy for a dog – the likes of which they have not had before.

Please remember that puppies are not usually good Christmas

presents.

They are usually bought without a lot of thought and when the cuteness wears off we find ourselves contributing to the homeless dog problem.

Their volunteer corps includes junior volunteers, as well as volunteers from our auxiliary, the Friends of Cedar Village.

Volunteer opportunities are open in the following positions:

Deli - The Cedar Village deli is always in need of extra hands to prepare for a day of tasty sandwiches, hot soup and daily specials. Mail delivery - Help with mail delivery to the residents in both the apartments and in health care. Also a
