Sheila Rhodes, owner of Small Batch Kitchen, Harleysville, will teach participants the process of making sauerkraut in their home kitchens.

Learn how to prep your own quart jar of cabbage to ferment into kraut. The class will discuss the fermenting process, food preservation safety issues, herb and spices that can be added to your kraut, and everything you’ll need to know about turning cabbage into sauerkraut. Preregistration is required as the class size is limited. The cost of the workshop is $60 ($55 members) plus a $15 materials fee. your words Who was your favorite teacher and why?

My brother was my greatest teacher. He taught me about art and how to appreciate it and fostered my creativity. He continues to do so to this day and because of that I have a career where I never work a day in my life, because I love what I do!

The best teacher I had was my third grade teacher, Mrs. Jean Fox. She taught us cursive and math. But, the most important thing she taught us was to be kind. She taught us by example of how kind she was to her students. Over the years, I interacted with a lot of teachers, and the best teacher I had was Mrs. Jean Fox. If all the teachers were like Mrs. Fox, the world would be a better place!

Without a doubt, hands down, Mr. Czernecki.

He was my art teacher in High school, and we would go on field trips to buildings and learn about the different styles of architecture. We learned clay techniques, and leather working and wood carving, and batik.

I often finds myself using these techniques in my crafting to this day, more than 40 years later!
