T 21, Oran Park’s Jesse Mowczan was on track to compete in wheelchair rugby at the Paris Paralympics. An extensive operation related to his disability set back his training, but he hasn’t let it stop him. Now back in the gym and training hard, Jesse is more determined than ever, with his next goal to complete the 2026 City2Surf. While living in the Blue Mountains, Jesse was eager to find a sport to pursue. Wheelchair basketball was the only option available, so he gave it a go, but the sport lacked the support he needed. It wasn’t until he tried wheelchair rugby at a local gala day that he found his calling and after playing at a camp in Menai with his brother, Jesse discovered his passion and has been committed to wheelchair rugby ever since. So what inspired him to chase the Paralympic dream? More inside.
