Jessica J. Kandel, MD Surgeon-in-Chief and Chief, Pediatric Surgery, University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital Chief, Pediatric Surgery, Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance

Dear Colleagues, Our mission at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital is to exceed expectations for clinical outcomes for every child entrusted to our care by their parents and by you. We are deeply committed to serving our pediatrician partners by providing timely and ready access to specialists you may need in order to provide the best care for your patients and families. Our specialists will communicate directly with you so you can jointly assess next steps for your patient as they return to your care. We have established a significant number of multidisciplinary teams so a patient family can often access multiple providers in one visit, either virtually or in person. These clinics allow us to offer a more comprehensive level of care. We are part of the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA) — a collaboration between UChicago Medicine Comer Children’s, Advocate Children’s, and the NorthShore University HealthSystem. CCHA is now serving patients and their families with needs in five main areas: cancer and blood diseases, cardiology and cardiac surgery, gastroenterology, general surgical care, as well as neurosciences. These patients and their families benefit from easy, convenient access to the specialized expertise of all three organizations, including many of our nationally renowned faculty.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your patients, their families and you. Like you, we are committed to each and every child’s well-being, to treat every disease no matter how rare, to prevent illness and injury, to pursue the knowledge to advance pediatric medicine, and to maximize each child’s full potential. Sincerely,
