Why I love being a REALTOR®
I
thought I’d answer the often-asked question, “Why do you love what you do?” There are a lot of reasons why, and many of them aren’t what some would think. I’ve heard people say, “I’d love to be an agent, I love looking at houses!” (A given, yes, but that’s not why) or “I love people! I’d love to be an agent!” Get a transaction tied up with an overzealous mortgage underwriter, and you may rethink that statement. (No offense, underwriters!) What I DO love about it is matchmaking people to the right houses that become homes, the coordination of sellers who not only need to sell their house but also buy one at the same time and making sure every last piece sticks together — on time. I love listening to what people want, what they think they want, what they swear they don’t, and the satisfaction of seeing them realizing that the house they just fell in love with is often a combination of all of them. I love the “That house is going to be hard to sell, are you sure you want that listing?” while I say “Watch me” and the relief of changing the MLS status to “Sold”. I love the excitement of new agents, and sometimes even experienced ones, whom I have helped in their own transactions when something we brainstormed about comes together for them. I love getting to know agents of all companies, locally and worldwide, and being able to connect people wherever their needs are. “Find something you love doing, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”.
