Midlothian citizens trust its government to invest their tax dollars wisely for the benefit of the entire community. This investment supports essential services, including reliable fire protection, emergency medical response, and professional police services. It also ensures that our roads are well maintained and that new roads are built as our 65‑square‑mile city continues to grow. The city plans for current and future water needs while maintaining 300 miles of sewer and water lines, along with two water treatment plants.

Beyond basic services, Midlothian also invests in the amenities that enrich everyday life. Our parks, library, and senior center provide places for families and neighbors to learn, connect, and enjoy recreation. Nearly two dozen free, family‑friendly events each year help bring our community together.

Thanks to voter support of bond projects approved in 2021, the city completed a new City Hall and Public Library. The new town square has attracted private investment and helped revitalize our downtown business district. Voter approval also made possible the construction of a modern Public Safety facility that will serve the community for the next 50 years.

Residents and businesses invest in Midlothian not only through property taxes, but also through local shopping, which contributes valuable sales tax dollars to the community.

As a lifelong resident and as mayor, I am deeply invested in Midlothian’s future. I invite you to invest your time by staying engaged – whether through involvement in our schools, volunteer organizations, or community groups. Staying informed about city matters and participating in the voting process helps protect and strengthen our shared investment for years to come.

WHERE A STRONG FOUNDATION PROMISES BRIGHT FUTURES

M

idlothian, Texas, sits at the junction of two major highways and two major railroads.

This advantageous location is one of the foundations that helped the town pivot from farming to industry after WWII. Midlothian’s proximity to both Dallas and Fort Worth allows residents easy access to urban attractions and opportunities. Despite its rapid growth, Midlothian maintains its rural roots and small-town values.

Perched upon the Austin Chalk, Midlothian’s landscape reveals a unique topographical feature known as the escarpment. The escarpment creates natural rise-and-fall patterns in the land. These gentle cliffs and ridges break up otherwise flat or low‑slope terrain, giving Midlothian a more sculpted and layered look.

Midlothian’s visionary leaders have made quality of life a priority for its 45,000-plus residents. They have shepherded sensible growth, while at the same time encouraged a diverse economy, including several large industries. The city is a mixture of locally owned businesses and regional and national chains.

The city is a growing healthcare hub with the addition of Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in 2020 and Texas

Health Neighborhood Care and Wellness soon to open. Another important asset is Mid-Way Regional Airport, which serves corporate users and hobbyists.

Midlothian’s charm comes alive in its beautiful downtown where restaurants and shops surround the picturesque, new City Hall and Public Library, creating a vibrant “Main Street” vibe.

Encompassing 65 square miles, the city has 251.8 developed acres of park land, which is comprised of 15 developed city parks that provide neighborhood recreation, athletic facilities, and nature trails.

Community life bustles around the sports fields, school and church functions, and an ongoing lineup of free events such as festivals, parades, concerts, movies, an annual rodeo and livestock show, and other family-centered activities.

At $126,641, the annual median household income in Midlothian greatly exceeds the state median as does the level of education. With two highly ranked high schools, Midlothian Independent School District boasts a 96.5% on-time graduation rate and strong performance in College, Career, and Military Readiness assessments, highlighting Midlothian’s promising future.

or 90 years, the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce has stood alongside the businesses, leaders, and families who have shaped our community. Since its founding in 1936, the Chamber has served as a catalyst for economic growth, a champion for local business, and a trusted partner in building the vibrant Midlothian we know today.

While Midlothian has transformed dramatically over the past nine decades—from a small North Texas community into one of the fastest-growing cities in the region—the Chamber’s purpose has remained remarkably consistent: helping businesses connect, grow, lead, and succeed while strengthening the community they call home.

Over the years, the Chamber has evolved alongside the needs of its members. What began as an organization focused on supporting local commerce has grown into a dynamic business resource representing more than 400 businesses and professionals across a wide range of industries. BUILDING COMMUNITY LEADERS FOR THE FUTURE Leadership Midlothian, powered by the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce, is designed to equip the future leaders of Midlothian with a deeper understanding of the community they serve. Each year, a class of 20 participants comes together once a month for a hands-on experience that explores the institutions and industries that shape Midlothian. More than a leadership course, the program is an opportunity to build lasting relationships and inspire those who will serve as future councilmen, trustees, and board members.

Participants move through the program as a cohort, creating a shared experience that encourages collaboration and connection. Throughout the year, they gain valuable insight into the Midlothian Independent School District, city and county government, local manufacturing industry, and healthcare organizations.

By hearing directly from active community leaders and visiting pivotal locations, class members see firsthand how different sectors of the community work together to support a growing Midlothian.

The program also offers room for memorable, hands-on experiences that bring each monthly topic to life. Participants get exclusive interactions such as scrubbing in at Methodist Midlothian Medical Center to tour the OR, watching new steel withstand refining

fires at Gerdau, and an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the Ellis County jail. These moments help transform information into understanding, giving the classmates a clearer view of Midlothian’s opportunities, challenges, and future direction.

The class size remains intentionally small, giving each participant the chance to engage meaningfully with guest speakers, ask insightful questions, and form lasting connections with fellow classmates. The Chamber strives to create a forum where emerging and established leaders alike can connect, grow their confidence, refine their servant leadership skills, and discover new ways to pour into the community.

At its core, Leadership Midlothian is about creating an accessible way to learn about the community and bring together those who will shape its future. Through education, connection, and exposure, the program prepares alumni to become informed and proactive citizens. A morning networking event featuring local business speakers who address current and practical business topics. These events are held the first Thursday of each month.

One of the most significant developments is the new Medline distribution center currently under construction in Midlothian. The healthcare supply company recently broke ground on a 1.2 million-square-foot facility that will serve healthcare providers throughout Texas and the surrounding region. Scheduled to become operational

Reports indicate a new data center project valued at approximately $880 million is planned for the Midlothian campus, further solidifying the city’s role in the rapidly expanding digital economy.

Meanwhile, building materials producer Amrize is investing in upgrades at its Midlothian cement plant.

Lake Grove Park offers a scenic outdoor escape along the north shore of Texas Conservation Service Site 5 reservoir. The park features a 2,500-foot concrete walking trail connected to a natural-surface trail stretching from Hawkins Run Road to South 14th Street, with access points at both ends. Visitors can enjoy a lakeside boardwalk, benches, and peaceful views. Catch-and-release fishing and small, nonmotorized watercraft are permitted, although swimming is prohibited. Designed for pedestrian and bicycle access, the park does not offer on-site parking; nearby parking is available at Community Park and Coleman Elementary School.

Mockingbird Nature Park

A 60-acre nature park with a hiking trail, public restrooms, butterfly garden, pond, bluebird nestboxes, boardwalk, and native grass areas. Equipped with NaviLens markers that provide narrated and written information about the park’s plants. This service was funded by Midlothian Community Development Corporation and is maintained by the Indian Trail Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists.
