February is American Heart Month, a time when all people can focus on their cardiovascular health. The Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention is shining a light on hypertension (high blood pressure), a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Know Your Numbers: High blood pressure is often called the "silent killer" because you can’t generally feel if you have it. But you may have warning signs that you write off as stress. Get your blood pressure checked at least once a year! Find resources to manage your blood pressure from @TheHeartTruth: www.nhlbi.nih.gov/hypertension. According to the America Heart Association, more than one in three women is living with some form of cardiovascular disease. For women, heart disease is deadlier than most cancers combined! Heart disease and stroke cause one in three deaths among women each year. What are heart attack symptoms in women? Women tend to present different types of pain during an acute heart attack compared to men. “It’s more difficult in women to identify heart disease,” said Dr. Hagau. “We used to think women were more protected from heart disease until menopause due to estrogen production, but we are seeing younger and younger women who are coming in with heart disease or having heart attacks.”

Debbie Miller The purpose of the Missions Ministry is to support all missionary efforts of the church, locally and internationally as well as support long term missionaries on the field and send short term missionary teams to other lands for short term service. The ministry also aids church members in the event of personal hardship and emergencies.
SOCIAL ACTION MINISTRY Lay Pastor: Sis. Beatrice Miller The purpose of Social Action Ministry is to provide social and political information that is relevant to the Mount Jezreel Baptist Church congregation and immediate communities. The ministry also acts as a conduit for the dissemination of information and resources that can be used in the growth and development of the congregation.
SAMARITAN MINISTRY Lay Pastor: Sis. Deborah Lovett Assistant Lay Pastor: Sis Phyllis Hardy The purpose of the Samaritan Ministry is to assist the congregation in periods of discomfort during worship and administer first aid. The ministry serves the community providing support to the single parents of Health Babies Project and provide comfort to the congregation during times of mourning by serving at funerals.
