We have many great teachers at Warwick Valley High School. Most kids tend to love the teachers that have been here for a while, but what about the new teachers? Mr. Hartman is just one of many new teachers in Warwick Valley High School. This is Mr. Hartman’s first year at Warwick Valley High School and he teaches Oceanography, Astronomy, and Earth Science. I have had an amazing time in Mr. Hartman’s Oceanography class and I look forward to taking his Astronomy class next semester.
Q: How long have you been teaching for?
A: “I have been teaching for 5 years now.”
Q: What are some of the challenges you face as a new teacher at Warwick Valley High School?
A: “Some challenge as a new teacher at Warwick Valley High School is getting used to the schedule and needing time to get to know the students and the culture.”
Q: Have you had any highlights this year?
A: “Some highlights I’ve had this year are seeing some good projects from those students who put in the effort.”
Q: Why do you like teaching Oceanography?

A: “I like teaching oceanography because many students haven’t been exposed to all there is to know about the ocean, so it’s kind of brand new to them.
Q: What hobbies do you like to do outside of school?
A: “Some hobbies that I like to do outside of school are traveling and gaming. On spring break I’ll be going to the Galápagos Islands, and this summer I plan to go on a safari.”
Q: If you were to have a different profession what would you like it to be?
A: “If I were to have a different profession I would be a park ranger.”
Although it might be difficult for new teachers to adjust to change, Mr. Hartman is doing very well here at Warwick Valley High School.
