Abigail ELDRED AGE 23 - OTSEGO, MI
Abigail “Abby” Marie Eldred passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Bronson Hospital on September 20, 2025. Abby was born on May 20, 2002, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was a fighter from the day she was born. She conquered two open heart surgeries at the University of Michigan and showed resilience after her strokes in 2018 and 2025. Abby graduated from Otsego High School in 2021. She then attended the YAP and YCC programs through KRESA and planned to start her work study this fall. Abby loved singing and dancing to her favorite country songs. She also enjoyed watching game shows, playing on her iPad, and loved family games (when she was winning). She was always up for a car ride, especially if it involved grabbing a chocolate shake. Abby had a fierce love for cheeseburgers, French dips, and M&M’s. She enjoyed participating in basketball, bowling, volleyball, gymnastics, and soccer through Area 16 Special Olympics. Many would describe Abby as fearless and strong-willed. She had a heart of gold and would light up a room with her infectious personality. Abby was unapologetically Abby day in and day out. Abby is survived by her loving parents, Matt and Lisa Eldred; her siblings, Chelsea (Jeremy) Wrage and Will Eldred; three cherished nieces, Leighton, Emersyn, and Reese; beloved grandparents, Linda (Ross Biggs) Eldred, Dan Eldred, and Bernie and Barb Livingston. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with a multitude of friends. Abby will live on forever in our hearts. A service will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 at Centerpoint Church, followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Area 16 Special Olympics or the scholarship fund that will be set up in Abby’s name.

William “Bill” KISSINGER AGE 89 - PLAINWELL, MI
William “Bill” Kissinger of Plainwell, MI was born on October 10th, 1935, to his parents Charles and Wilma (Keefer) Kissinger. He joined his older brother, Wayne, and would later be followed by siblings David, Joyce and Linda. Growing up, Bill spent much of his childhood on his grandmother’s farm where he later would start his first job at 17. Following that he worked at Valley Metal and later found his home at United Parcel Service (UPS) where he eventually retired after 29 years of service. Bill preferred to keep busy by way of serving others. He spent time as a volunteer firefighter and also took a job delivering flowers during retirement. This desire to always be on the go was not just isolated to his work life but carried over into his family life as well. He could often be found joining the neighborhood pick-up football and basketball games that were usually hosted at his home. His grandchildren recall him riding a unicycle up and down the driveway, just because he could, and cruising around Plainwell on his moped. Bill loved to travel and would take the opportunity to do so with his loved ones whenever possible. He and his wife of 66 years, Nancy, took many trips across country in their motorhome and in later years would venture down to Florida together each winter. The couple enjoyed their trips together but also those with friends and family, including an annual motorhome trip to Cedar Point with their grandkids. When the travelling days slowed down, Bill found ways to stay busy around the house. He loved bird watching and also took to gardening a plot of vegetables in the back yard. He always had new gadgets and technology to keep an eye on the animals outside and happenings around his house. He invested in the newest bird feeders and anti-squirrel devices as a source of entertainment for not only him but his children and grandchildren as well. He built a saloon style porch/sunroom off the back of his garage where many enjoyed a beer and backyard view. He managed all of this but would still make that phone call for help on how to use his new TV remote. Bill was known and loved by many as he left a lasting impression wherever he went. Many will remember him by his laugh. He may have been the founding father of “dad jokes” and always kept the crowd laughing, especially at family gatherings. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wilma (Keefer) Kissinger; his wife, Nancy (Anspaugh) Kissinger; his siblings, Wayne Kissinger, David Kissinger and Joyce Pierce. Bill is survived by his sister, Linda (Mark) Shipley and sister in-law, Pat Kissinger; children, Todd (Melissa) Kissinger and Tammy (Tony) Rickli; his four grandchildren, Ashley Kissinger, Amber Baldwin, Ashley De Vries and Casey Rickli; six great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy of laughter and love.
The family is being cared for by Avink, McCowen, Secord Funeral Home Please sign the guestbook and/or share a memory. www.amsfuneralhomes.com

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Doc
~ September 19th ~
We took our vows together said: 'Til death do us part but when God came and took your hand my whole world fell apart.
No one knows the heartache I try so hard to hide. Only God knows how many times I've broken down and cried.
When I look back upon our lives one of the things that makes me glad that you chose me to share with you the precious years we had.
You were my shelter in every storm, my partner in every step. Life without you is a quiet ache, a house missing its heartbeat.
I talk to you in silence I sleep beside your memory. The days are long but your love still holds me together.
We promised forever and my heart still wears your ring. Losing you was like losing half of myself. The bed feels too big, the nights too long and my days too empty without your love beside me.
I miss the way you made me feel safe, cherished and loved, our love story will never end because I will carry you with me for the rest of my life.
My Husband, the next time that I meet you will be at Heaven's door. You'll be there to meet me and I'll cry no more.
I will put my arms around you and kiss your lovely face then this broken heart of mine will fall back into place.
I will love you forever, Heart and soul,

“KEYS TO THE KINGDOM” – PART 2
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” ~Matthew 5:4
Rev. Dan Minor - revdminor1945@gmail.com
The second key to the kingdom is mourning. In the Bible there are three meanings of this word as follows:
1. TO MOURN IS TO FEEL SORROW. Sorrow hurts. Grief is unsettling. Bereavement leaves a hole in our hearts that is hard to bear. God made us with the ability to feel our emotions. Comfort comes in knowing we do not suffer alone. To mourn literally means “to care deeply.” The shortest verse in the Bible attests to this fact: “Jesus wept.” Mourning is a by-product of love. When people saw Jesus crying for the death of his friend Lazarus, they said, “Behold, how he loved him.”
2. TO MOURN IS TO EXPERIENCE SORROW FOR OUR SINS.
When David sinned, he prayed to God, “For I acknowledge my transgressions; and my sin is ever before me” (Psalm 51:3). Back in the day, churches had a “mourner’s bench” where people came to seek God’s pardon. In Psalm 32:1, David prayed, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” There is no greater comfort than knowing God has forgiven our sins.
3. TO MOURN IS TO CARE DEEPLY ABOUT THE HURTS AND INJUSTICES OF THE WORLD.
In a world of hurt, God offers help and healing through God’s people. We are God’s hands and feet to a broken world.
In the words of the late Mother Teresa, “God has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on this world…”
The word comfort literally means “with strength.” “Blessed are those who care deeply for they shall be given strength.”
Dear Lord, thank you for the comfort only You can give. In Your strong name. Amen.
