The Plainwell Volunteer Christmas Project (PVCP) is asking the community to get in the giving spirit and help provide nearly 1,000 new bath towels for local families this holiday season through its“Terry Christmas” donation drive. The towels will be collected up until Christmas.

OTSEGO - DIX ST. ELEMENTARY SUPPORT NEEDED AFTER FIRE On Monday, September 21, 2026, Dix Street Elementary suffered a fire that caused the building to close indefinitely. Any items inside of Dix Street Elementary School are not accessible to the teachers or students until the building has been assessed for all damages. In the meantime, learning must continue. Many students will be in need of replacement school supplies. Teachers will need consumable classroom supplies, and items to keep students comfortable.

When he was 34, a man named John Stallings faced many severe family issues and felt that his faith was being tested. Out of his experiences came the lyrics of a song entitled “Learning to Lean.” The lyrics, in part, read: “Learning to lean, Learning to lean I’m learning to lean on Jesus Finding more power than I’ve ever dreamed I’m learning to lean on Jesus” The biggest obstacle to spiritual growth is selfsufficiency. When we are sufficient unto ourselves, there is no room for God to work in our lives. One example of this is the Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:16-21). He was a man God called a fool. He was a rich farmer. He was not called a fool because he was rich or because he was a farmer. He was called a fool because of his self-reliance. He was so successful that he ran out of space to store what he had produced. So he kept building bigger barns. There is nothing wrong with that.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to lean more on You rather than upon ourselves. In Your strong name. Amen.
