Ida WALTON

Ida M. Walton passed away on September 9, 2026, at her home in Kalamazoo, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 24, 1936, in Portageville, Missouri, the daughter of Harvey and Rachel (Barnes) James. Ida’s life was centered on her family, her home, and her faith. On October 11, 1951, she married Lawrence Risner, and together they shared 36 years of marriage until his passing in 1987. She later married Jack Walton on August 19, 1993, and they remained together until his passing. After raising her children, Ida worked at Humphrey Products for 15 years until her retirement. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things of life. Ida enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and crafts, and she took special pride in fixing up her house. She was known as a great cook and for keeping her home immaculate. Above all, she loved her Lord, and that faith was an enduring part of her life. Ida leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish her memory: her children, Daniel Lee (Maddie) Risner of Florida, Linda Kay (Paul) Nichols of Plainwell, Dorothy (Victor) Chappell of Plainwell, Bonnie (Dave) Markle Plainwell, Lawrence Risner Jr. of Kalamazoo, and Richard A. (Angela) Risner of Battle Creek; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Vivian Trimpe; brother, Norman James along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Winford James and sister, Ollie James and by her infant sister, Little Victory. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to one of Ida’s granddaughters, Lacey Ford and niece, Heather Griffin, both registered nurses, for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Ida during her final days. Their dedication, kindness, and presence were a beautiful gift to Ida and her family. Friends visited with Ida’s family starting at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Orangeville Pentecostal Church, until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Mike Risner officiating. Burial followed at Oakhill Cemetery in Orangeville. Contributions in memory of Ida may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by

Lawrence Edward “Ed” Main, age 75, passed away on September 10, 2026. Ed was born on January 5, 1951, in Hastings, Michigan. He made his home in Otsego, Michigan, where he raised his family and built a life filled with hard work, generosity, laughter, and a whole lot of love. Ed was stubborn as hell, and he was so very loved. Those who knew Ed will remember a kind and loving man who cared deeply about the people around him. He was someone who always wanted to make sure everyone else was comfortable and taken care of, often putting the needs of others before his own. His generosity extended far beyond his family, and throughout his life he quietly helped and cared for more people than could ever be counted. Ed made his living as a painter, but outside of work, he was rarely one to sit still. He had a lifelong love of working on cars and could often be found tinkering with something that needed fixing. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent many years showing horses. Whether he was working with his hands, spending time outdoors, or simply surrounded by the people he loved, Ed found happiness in the things that made life feel full. At the center of Ed’s life was his family. On July 29, 1977, he married the love of his life, Zarlene Breedveld. Together they built a life and family that meant everything to him. Zarlene preceded Ed in death in 2020, but the love they shared remained an important part of him for the rest of his life. Ed is survived by his sons, Justin (Ali) Main and Lawrence (Katie) Main; his seven grandchildren, Ava, Aaden, Mason, Tinsley, Berkley, Alexa, and Oakley, whom he adored dearly; and his brother, Steve (Abbie) Main and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zarlene; his parents, Lawrence and Barbara Main; and his siblings, Ron, June, Tom, and Bob. Ed leaves behind far more than the things he owned or the work he accomplished. He leaves behind the family he loved fiercely, the people he helped along the way, countless memories, and the unmistakable mark of a man whose kindness and generosity touched many lives. He was stubborn. He was generous. He was deeply loved. And he will be deeply missed. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at VFW Post #3030 in Otsego, Michigan. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life that meant so much to so many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Otsego VFW Post #3030 in Ed’s honor.

I'm grateful for every memory we made and every moment I was blessed to call you mine. I still miss you in the quiet moments, when my heart reaches for someone it can no longer hold. 1. ABRAHAM LOVED GOD. The Bible says “We love because God first loved us” (I John 4:19). God must have loved Abraham because he called him to be the founder of the Hebrew religion. That was quite an assignment considering Abraham was raised in a pagan home which practiced idolatry! This shows that God can change the life of anyone who is willing to believe and be God’s friend. Friendship with God is so strong that nothing can break it. Human friendships can be superficial, one-sided and manipulative. To the contrary, friendship with God is unfailing, unbreakable, genuine and lasting. God will always stand by us no matter our situation (Proverbs 18:24). 2. ABRAHAM SPENT TIME WITH GOD. Abraham spent time with God. So can we. Starting the day with God through daily devotions is the best way to start the day. Being aware of God’s presence throughout the day and inviting Him into our decisions and everything we do is the true secret of friendship with God. Friends spend time with friends. 3. ABRAHAM WAS OBEDIENT TO GOD. The Bible says when Abraham was called by God he went out in obedience to God even though he did not know where he was going. Jesus said to his disciples, “You are my friends if you do what I command” (John 15:14). If that was true for them, how much more for us!

Prayer: Dear Lord, we want to be Your friend forever. In Your strong name. Amen.
