The Team Leader role will be a working leader and should have a proven track record of leading a team to reach its goal. A successful candidate in this positon will have excellent communication skills to provide training and daily direction to the team. As a Team Leader you will manage the flow of day to day operations ensuring deadlines are met. Candidates must be outgoing and people friendly, motivated and able to multi-task, as well as able to work with a deadline. As a working detailer you must be extremely thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing the automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail. This position also ensures that all vehicles are prepped for delivery, clean and on time while adhering to the department delivery schedule. The Detailer will also cautiously move cars on the property organizing them in a presentable manner. This will be a full time position working the following schedule with additional hours as needed to exceed customer expectations: Monday: 9am-8pm, Tuesday/Wednesday: 11am-8pm, Thursday: off, Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday: 9am-4pm

“A Lesson in Leadership” By Rev. Dan Minor
revdminor@att.net _____________________________________ “Moses … chose capable men from all Israel and made them leaders of the people …” Exodus l8:24, 25 In the early years of pastoral ministry I learned a lesson in leadership that served a purpose later in my ministry. The story begins in Plainwell, MI when I worked for a local painter. It was the summer of our marriage. We would enter seminary in the fall. When I drew my last paycheck my boss said something like “You have learned something which will be helpful to you later on.” He was right. We painted in every parsonage we lived in. When we went to our first appointment, I had the (not so bright) idea of volunteering our youth group to paint the home of one of our shut-ins. Our numbers and interest gradually dwindled until I was the last painter left. If it had not been for another man in our church, I would have spent most of that summer finishing the project myself. The years passed and I was getting tired. During the introductory meeting of our last appointment someone asked, “How can we help you?” It was then that I really began developing lay leadership in the church. Do you remember Moses? Although he was hesitant at first (Exodus 3) he ended up leading God’s people from bondage to freedom (Exodus 12). Yet he would learn a lesson in leadership from his father-in-law (Jethro). Jethro noticed he was doing too much of the work himself (Exodus l8:17-23) and advised him to recruit others to help him. In Exodus l8:24 we read, “Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said.” Thus, Moses learned a lesson in leadership – delegate! Our Lord was the Master of delegation sending out disciples and giving them authority for service in His name (Mark 3:13 ff). The work of the ministry is too much for one person to do it alone. Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to answer the call to service in your name. Amen.

shoppersguide@sbcglobal.net Press Release: The second annual Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) Golf Scramble and Skills Competition took place on Monday July 25, 2016 at Lynx Golf Course in Otsego, raising more than $7,000. The event, which hosted more than 35 Special Olympic Michigan athletes, included a 9-hole golf scramble, lunch, refreshments, a four-event skills competition and an awards ceremony. After the events was the awards ceremony, where every athlete received an award. The 9-hole golf scramble hosted the sponsors of the event with some athletes also participating. The SOMI Golf Scramble and Skills Competition highlighted the power of community. With all of the athletes coming from the southwest Michigan region, and all of the sponsors being local, it became clear that Special Olympics is not just about a state-wide event, but rooted into local communities as well. LYNX GC already has plans to continue its tradition of hosting the event again next year.

Bernard Leroy DEBRUYNE AGE 82 – PLAINWELL, MI
Bernard Leroy DeBruyne peacefully made his transition from his earthly home to his Heavenly home on August 6th, 2016. He was born November 16th, 1933 to Dora Mae & Jacob DeBruyne in Plainwell, MI. On December 24th, 1952 Bernard married his sweetheart Barbara Ann Stickley. The two welcomed their first child Debra Lynn in 1954, Son Mark in 1957, Daughter Pam in 1959 and Son Michael in1961. Bernard was in the Navy from 1951 to 1954 Active duty and 4 years inactive. He was in the Korean War aboard the USS Des Moines. He returned home to Plainwell and started working at Plainwell Paper in 1957, where he would retire in 1996. He was an avid fisherman & hunter. He enjoyed woodworking, carving ducks playing the guitar with his friends. He was in bowling leagues and enjoyed spending time playing cards with friends and spending time with his family. Bernard loved his LORD & SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST and also took great pride in his family name. Bernard was a hardworking, simple man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great & great great-grandchildren so very much. He was a jokester and made a statement wherever he went. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Barbara DeBruyne of Otsego, Son Mark (Kathy) DeBruyne of Plainwell, Daughter Pam (Charlie) DeBruyne McQueer of Otsego and Son Michael (Tammy) DeBruyne of Kalamazoo. One Sister Carol Brewster of Texas. Bernard’s 2 beloved dogs Katy Marie & Bo Jangles. 12 Grandchildren: Gretchen Kershaw, Amanda DeBruyne, Thomas (Meghan) DeBruyne, Jacob (Brittany) DeBruyne, Josh (Jerrica) DeBruyne, Justin DeBruyne, Heather McQueer, Brooke McQueer, Steve (Cindy) McQueer, Tracy (Chad) St. Clair, Josh & Travis Kent. 9 Greatgrand children, 6 Great-GreatGrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother & father Dora & Jacob DeBruyne, Firstborn daughter Debra DeBruyne, Firstborn grandson Michael Sloan Harris, Sisters June Bradshaw, Doris Ferguson, Shirley Stowell, and Helen Watts. Thomas Elwin NORTHRUP AGE 54 – DELTON, MI
Thomas was a fun loving brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He was a lover of all people who enjoyed sharing his natural gift of music, his kind hearted friendship and his quiet wisdom with others. He was always one to look on the bright side of life and made everyone he met feel special. Always equipped with quick humor to lighten the mood, an ability to empathize with others and a hearty sense of adventure, Tom lived his life to the fullest. He was a talented musician, a courageous spirit and a wonderful companion who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In 1962, Elwin and Aileen (Schultz) Northrup welcomed home their newborn son Thomas, born on January 29th in Plainwell, Michigan. Growing up in the small town of Martin with parents both actively involved in public education, Tom and his siblings, Ron and Amy couldn’t get away with much of anything! His father was a principal with Martin Public Schools and his mother was a school teacher in the same district. Tom attended local schools and like his parents, had a natural gift for music. He took piano lessons as a young boy and while in high school was actively involved with band, including jazz band and choir. Tom passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident on July 27 while vacationing in the Upper Peninsula. He was 54 years old. Tom is survived by two siblings: Ron (Diane) Northrup, of Kalamazoo; Amy (Steve) Collins, of Hastings; Nieces and Nephews: Amanda and Matthew Northrup; Ronnie, Kayleigh and Allison Collins. He is also survived by his companion of 16 years, Kristine Tappan, of Grand Rapids; aunts and uncles: Norris Northrup of Allegan; Doyal and Betty Northrup of Portage; cousins: Sally Beyer, Connie Kirk, Ginny Cronkhite; and extended family. Tom is preceded in death by his parents: Elwin and Aileen (Schultz) Northrup. Funeral Servics were held Monday, August 8, 2016 at Martin High School. Anne Clark Carlyle has reunited with her husband in heaven. She passed peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep on Thursday, August 4, 2016. She was born in Ashland, Ohio on November 27, 1946 to Donald and Wilma (Bowen) Clark. Anne was a faithful member of the Otsego United Methodist Church where she was heavily involved in mission work, praise team and choir. To know her was to love her. She was admired by many for her caring generosity, patience and kindness. For 40 years Anne had been active with Carlyle Roofing which she operated first with her husband and later with her son. On August 10, 1969 in Ashland she married Harold “Butch” Carlyle who passed away in 2012. Anne is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Joe) Gibson; son, George (Kelly) Carlyle, grandchildren, Ben, Rebecca and Sam Gibson and Andrew and Grace Carlyle; sister, Connie (Richard) Jones; brother, Steve (Terry) Clark and countless nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as Auntie Anne. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Bill. A funeral service was held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Otsego United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Shaler and Pastor Dan Minor officiating. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell. Tom passed away at his home on Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was born September 30, 1956 in Kalamazoo, MI to Dennis and Hazel (Strauss) VanDusen. Tom had worked in several area factories, most recently in plastic molding plants in Otsego and Martin. He loved fishing and was a member of B.A.S.S. and loved throwing his annual fish fry for family and friends. Tom also enjoyed making peace pipes and walking canes, playing guitar, listing to classic rock and watching horror films. Surviving are his children, Salina (fiancé, Steven Tracy) VanDusen, Jessie VanDusen and Zackery VanDusen; his grandchildren, Avery Tracy and Addisyn Town; his mother Hazel and his brothers, Ralph, Dennis and Mike. He was preceded in death by his father and by his brother, Steve. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Melissa passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 6, 2016. She was born March 17, 1982 in Plainwell to Steven and Charleen (Blanton) Wooten. Melissa was a Plainwell High School graduate and had attended Western, Grand Valley, and KVCC and was close to completing her degree. She enjoyed volunteering at many area nursing homes, loved shopping, going out to restaurants and most of all, spending time with her daughters. Surviving are her children, Ellyna Mae Ellis and Isabella Mae Wooten; her parents; brother, Steven (Ashley) Wooten; 2 nieces; sister, Kourtney (David) Senters; grandparents, Joyce (Roy) Ellison and William (Judy) Wooten; many aunts, uncles, cousins and her friend, Sherry Morrison. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dollie and D. Dennis Blanton; aunts, Mae Hicks, Freda Tammell and Betty Watson; uncles, Mac Arthur, Dee Blanton, Ernest Dyer and Sammy Blanton; cousins, McKenzie Mills and Kenny Hicks.
