Jesus walked on water, calmed the stor m, fed the multitudes, healed the sick and raised the dead Power over Sin and Death

“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law But thanks be to God! He gives us the v i c t o r y t h r o u g h o u r L o r d J e s u s C h r i s t ” ( I Cor inthians 15:56, 57)

God never r uns out of power because God is power We can tap into the Holy Spir it’s power at any time Another word for power is omnipotence One day we will join the Heavenly hosts in singing “Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth!”

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin I do not understand what I do For what I want to do I do not do but what I hate I do Romans 7:14-15

REFLECTION: As a regenerated person of Chr ist I know full well that the remnant of my flesh is opposite to the Law Yet, the Spir it that has regenerated me makes me want to obey God There is no greater divide than between the flesh and the spir it There is no agreement between the natural sinful person and being spir itually connected to God People are car nal and there is no agreement with Chr ist None! It can be compared to the difference between light and dar kness The Law is spir itual and when we hear it we hear about the r ighteousness of God Humans by nature are corr upt We can only taste ear thly matters as a br utish animal The Spir it, on the other hand, renews our sluggish nature God’s Spir it comes to us when we hear the Word We lear n that we have fallen from grace and made in His own image This conflict between the old and the new life in Chr ist is a miraculous gift of the Spir it St Paul tells us that one who is regenerated by the Spir it clear ly sees the disagreement between pur ity of the Law of God and the sinful nature Our destr uctive behavior is prevalent, and we have little strength to make us more loving We repeat patter ns of past broken relationships one way or another Innately we seek God’s forgiveness and love and pray, asking for a new star t in life That is exactly what the Divine grace of Chr ist does The Spir it of God, even though we are corr upt, invites us to Chr ist He paid the ransom for sin, so sin no longer holds us captive We know the law produced death and sin causes us to fear and worr y In Chr ist we are granted new life a real life Our regenerated hear t gives us a second chance to live fresh Galatians 5:17-18 For the flesh desires what is contrar y to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrar y to the flesh They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law

PRAYER TIME: Lord, I find comfor t knowing that Paul also suffered from the same weakness as I do With your help I will continue to look at the Word and be guided by the Spir it to do what your desire for me is to do This is to love you with my hear t mind and soul In Jesus’ Name Amen
