Mary Elizabeth Disney was born Mary Elizabeth Thompson on August 2 1946 She passed away on May 28, 2026 following a prolonged illness Her parents precede her in death, Thomas Thompson and Theo Thompson Surviving are her siblings, Thomas Thompson Jr and Carolyn Baxter She is also survived by her significant other, Hector Llerena as well as her daughter, Mary Ellen Burr, and her son, Donald Ray Disney Grandchildren are Caleb Disney, Mason Burr, Reece Disney, and Lauren (Burr) Fillmore She also has a great-granddaughter, Phoebe Fillmore Mary worked as a CAD operator for MDOT for 15 years Prior to that, she worked for the Michigan State Police as a Capital Security Officer for 13 years She and Hector loved traveling and visited every state in the US as well as 12 other countries The family met with friends on Wednesday, June 3rd with a Celebration of Mary's Life after at the Bangor Chapel, D L Miller Funeral Home

Sharon Lavon (Baux) Moreno, beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away December 29th, 2025, after a brief illness She was 69 Sharon was born October 11,1956 in Kalamazoo, MI to Daniel and Lila Baux She spent the majority of her life in West Michigan It was there she raised her three children, John, Suzanne, Stevie and welcomed her three step-children into the family She was a spitfire who modeled the way for her kids, instilling a good work ethic and ensuring they knew the value of a dollar She later moved to the South Florida area Sharon spent more than two decades there, some of her most rewarding years There she embraced a coastal lifestyle and love for the ocean You could find her taking quiet strolls on the beach collecting the best sea shells or on her porch sipping coffee and listening to the birds Above everything, she loved being present for her grandchildren, visiting frequently, attending their various activities and finding every way to spoil them They were her greatest joys Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Lila She is survived by her spouse, Edward; children John, Suzanne (Paul), Stevie (Ryan); step-children Edward Jr (Lindsay), Maria (Markus), Michael (Erin); Siblings Daniel (Liz), Brian (Rhonda), Paula (Kevin); grandchildren Madison, Mya, Nikolas, Kevin, Morgan, Makenna, Liliana and Magnolia, as well as multiple stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament (110 N Cedar St Allegan, MI) June 13th at 10am, followed by private burial Those wishing to share memories or condolences to the family are welcomed to attend a Celebration of life at The Robinson Manor (701 Marshall St Allegan, MI) June 13th at 12pm

Martha E Simpson, passed away on June 2, 2026, at Wings of Hope Hospice House in Allegan, Michigan
She was born on September 18, 1938, in Cheshire Township, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Mudgett) Trustch Throughout her long career, a dedicated custodian who served the Allegan school system for an impressive 31 years Martha contributed tirelessly to the educational community, ensuring that schools were welcoming and well cared for until her retirement in 2005 Beyond her professional life, she found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening and cherished moments of relaxation during her leisure time Martha’s legacy lives on through her family She is lovingly remembered by her sons Harold Simpson of Holland and Mark (Yolanda) Simpson of Otsego She also leaves behind one grandson, Tim Simpson, four step-grandchildren, and many step great-grandchildren Let’s not forget her faithful puppies: Cade, Digger, and Po Martha was predeceased by her son Larry, daughter Ruth, brother Harold Trustch, and sister Betty Nichols, all of whom she is now reunited with in peace A graveside service to honor Martha’s life will be held on June 12, 2026, from 2:00 at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, Michigan Family, friends, and community members are welcome to attend this service Martha’s family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care provided by Wings of Hope Hospice Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice Martha E Simpson’s enduring kindness, steady presence, and dedication to her work and loved ones remain a lasting inspiration to all who knew her She will be remembered with great respect and deep affection

Robert A Johnson Jr passed away on January 27, 2026, at the age of 86 He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Liz Johnson of Hendersonville, NC; son, Mike Johnson of Washington DC; daughters, Debbie (Chris) Clancy of Ludington, MI, and Sarah French (Mike Walters) of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren Tori Clancy, Molly French, and Erin Clancy; great-grandchild, Robbie Bammert Bob is proceeded in death by father, Robert A Johnson Sr ; mother, Helen Johnson; and wife, Martha (Christy) Johnson Bob graduated from Otsego High School in 1957, where he played the drums and guitar, was a proud member of the Skunk Patrol with his close friends and was voted Best Dressed an early sign of the personality, style, and confidence that stayed with him throughout his life He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1961, which began his career as a high school history teacher in North Muskegon, MI, where he was a favorite among the students and staff After a few short years of teaching, he was eager to move into the corporate world He worked in Human Resources at American Motors, JI Case, Clark Equipment, and finally ended his career as the head of Human Resources Department at the Volvo (Construction Equipment) North American Headquarters in Asheville, NC Bob believed that the best memories were made intentionally, especially during his beloved two-week summer vacations when his children were younger, which he planned with care and enthusiasm year after year with his wife Sue Valentine’s Day vacations were a favorite surprise, revealed through cleverly written cards filled with clues about where they were going and what to pack He delighted in creating anticipation and wonder Later in life, Bob’s children were the ones to plan yearly special vacations, which for the past few years were to Highlands, NC The time spent together with his kids was the most precious gift to Bob Family was at the center of Bob’s life He rarely missed a birthday for his grandchildren, happily traveling to Michigan whenever there was something important to celebrate His home, and especially his pool, was a gathering place full of laughter, where the grandkids loved to play when they visited, and everyone felt welcome Every day at precisely 3 o’clock, Bob could be found enjoying his orange cappuccino, a small ritual that brought him comfort and a burst of energy He also enjoyed his weekly breakfasts with his friend, Fred Mehlin and he cherished the friendships he had with Denny and Pam Miller and Jim Bennett He was a devoted fan of Michigan football, the Detroit Lions, and especially the Detroit Tigers, following his teams with loyalty and hope that never wavered Evenings were often spent around the table playing I’ll Buy It, a card game enjoyed by everyone, but especially his wife, Liz, and his sister-in-law, Gayle Those games were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and togetherness As he grew older, Bob developed a fondness for antiquing and, with recent movie streaming, rediscovering many of his favorite classic movies Though he never had pets for much of his life, he eventually found himself completely charmed by his cats, who became unexpected companions he truly loved Bob will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, his traditions, his sense of fun, and the deep love he had for his family His legacy lives on in shared stories, family games, surprise trips, and the countless moments he made special simply by being himself A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, Friday, June 19, 2026, at Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, Michigan, with a time of sharing starting at 6 PM Those attending are encouraged to wear something colorful as a reflection of Bob’s bright and lively spirit Private family burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego Contributions in memory of Bob may be directed to Blue Ridge Humane Society of Hendersonville NC

James “Jim” Belcher became an ancestor on May 29, 2026, surrounded by his devoted wife and three loving daughters The son of Eldon and Annie (Edwards) Belcher, Jim was born on April 17, 1951, in Plainwell, MI Jim graduated from Plainwell High School in 1969, where he excelled at sports He played on the basketball and baseball teams He even played football at the varsity level for all four years and was the team captain Out of high school, Jim worked for Parker Hannifin, before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1970 Jim served his country for four years as a marine mechanic working on the Subtenders USS Fulton and Orion Jim married the love of his life Nancy on May 2, 1970, at St Margaret Church in Otsego, they went on to have three beautiful daughters Once out of the Navy, Jim worked at Plainwell Paper until he decided to go to truck driving school He worked for many companies, most notably Spartan Stores, from 1988-2013, when he retired on the same day as his wife Jim and Nancy then went on to enjoy summers in the U P on McDonald Lake and winters in Arizona In July of 2019, they moved back to Otsego full time Jim had many hobbies, golfing, watching old westerns, mowing and maintaining a meticulous lawn, tinkering in his garage and shed, sneaking sweets, and most of all, watching University of Michigan football and yelling “Go Blue!” Jim also really enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and loved to take them fishing Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years Nancy, daughters, Tanya (Jeff) Keith, Tara Belcher (Trent Szymanowski), Amanda (Allen) Klumpp, grandchildren, Kenny and Seth Rose, Trey Szymanowski (Maddie Munch), Olivia and Patrick Klumpp, Eli and Jasper Keith Jim also leaves behind his dog Lucy, and sisters Rose Ann, Louise, and Virginia Jim was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Tyler Burd, and his most beloved dog ever, Maize The family would like to thank Wings of Hope Hospice for their tremendous care and support during this difficult time According to his wishes, cremation has taken place Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 6, from 11:00 A M until 2:00 P M at the Winkel Funeral Home The family encourages guests to honor Jim by wearing the maize and blue colors Arrangements by Winkel Funeral Home - Otsego Messages of condolence may be posted at www WinkelFuneralHome com

A few months ago I taught a Youth Confir mation class in our church One of the youth raised the question, What is a denomination?”
Answer : In the Chr istian religion there is one church (called the Body of Chr ist) which is made u p o f m e m b e r s o f va r i o u s s u b gr o u p s (denominations) such as Methodist, Baptist & Lutheran
The issue is when cer tain denominations have the attitude they are super ior to other denominations One example of this takes me back to the ear ly days of pastoral ministr y when a group of clergy in the community we were ser ving met to plan a community ser vice of worship One of them piously said, “I know I will be in Heaven someday but I cannot speak for the rest of you ” One in our group piped up and said, “You may be sur pr ised!” Chr ist cannot be divided Heaven is not made up of denominations It is not like there is one r o o m fo r C h r i s t i a n R e fo r m e d , a n o t h e r fo r C o n gr e g a t i o n a l i s t s a n d a n o t h e
